WEEK 1
WEEK 1
Your hosts have come and gone, and have left you with nothing but more questions and a key. Regardless of how you reacted or what you decided to do soon after that, it’s a fact that the day must end eventually.
And so it does, with the striking of the clock. As the twelve gongs reverberate and disappear into the night, the rest of the city is left silent save for a chilly wind that skims the streets. Those who have retired to their assigned rooms will find that the furnishings are decent enough to get a good night’s sleep, while those who wander the city will only continue to see empty streets and fog. But regardless of how you spend the night, eventually it will become readily apparent that dawn will not be coming any time soon as the waxing moon continues to hang in the sky even as the clock strikes six or seven or eight.
No one’s stopping you from wallowing in bed or holing up in a building during this perpetual night, but there’s a whole city out there to check out and some interesting additions to the Opera House decor; don’t forget though, a cage is a cage and every good cage needs its bars. While a portion of the streets and buildings are clear, any intrepid explorers won’t find themselves able to get very far through the fog that surrounds them; anyone who tries to venture through will end up getting turned around and end up right back where they started. Still, there’s plenty of other places to check, even if the fog-shrouded buildings are more or less off limits. Fortune favors the bold, after all.
[[Welcome to Week 1! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also now privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt at your leisure!]]

investigation - bookstore
Rean had took the time to get up at 5:00AM in the damn morning, posting up as many notes as he could after his early morning routine.
...At the very least the amount of explorable places made this possible. It also meant he caught a glimpse of the profiles that went up in the Opera House as well. Suffice to say, rough weather never stopped him.
The notes read: ]
Everyone, I believe it'll be good if we got together to talk about our situation together, what we've found out, and what we could do to turn this whole to our favor. After all, it'll benefit us if we were organized and did our best to work together against them.
The meeting time will be 12:30PM tomorrow. I will bring refreshments and food, but anyone else is free to do the same.
- Rean Schwarzer
[ After that, Rean could be seen later in the morning at clergy housing, making do with what they have and cooking some breakfast in the kitchen. If he saw anyone, he'll give a small smile.
There's also a jar of some syrupy substance on a counter nearby him. ]
Did you want me to make you something too?
[ Because he's making pancakes and some simple eggs to go along with it. Thank goodness for there being a place to collect dairy ingredients.
After he's done making breakfast, he'll leave a few pancakes out for people on plates in the dining room, even if they didn't ask. There's some notes right next to them, one pile noted to be 'jelly-filled pancakes', and 'regular pancakes'. There's also a container of syrup on the table to go along with that, which is basically kind of fruity and one Rean made do with what was lying around in the cans.
There's also some self-made, warm milk tea in a container, with a note that also says 'for everyone'.
He'll also take a seat himself and begin eating.
Towards the afternoon, Rean will head into the bookstore for more books to read to occupy his time. If he caught the eye of someone in there, he'll give a slight smile as a greeting. ]
How have you been holding up?
[ He figured he should ask, even if they haven't been here awhile. It'd be best if he started looking out for others right from the onset.
In the later half of the afternoon Rean will return to the bookstore, so that he can start to investigate that small office, trying to see if he could find anything of note. ]
Breakfast
What you're making right now smells quite good enough.

kitchen
[And I mean, after all the confusion of the previous day and very likely at least most of the night spent wandering and banging into uncooperative fogbanks, it's a little easier to see that while his uniform is still mostly as pristine as it used to be colorwise (minus some scuffs, though all of that's already a miracle considering white is only a useful color in Hueco Mundo) the collar is held together by willpower, prayers and maybe a pin or two.
It's certainly not sturdy enough to avoid revealing the Hollow hole just at the base of his throat, so really would the food even go anywhere. Mysteries of Hollow anatomy.
So instead of judging the state of Rean's pancakes, he'll just start rifling around in the drawers himself, quiet aside from the clatter.]

Well, it's good to see someone not letting this place get to them.

Investigation - Clocktower
[He can be found at the tram station, investigating one of the trams with a curious expression and reading the operator manual. You might even catch him trying to operate one to no avail.]
A most curious contraption, here...
[He can also be found at the milk bar trying out everything on the menu and giving it his opinion.]
Well, this is certainly an interesting-tasting treat. [He's tried one piece of leniwe, and now he's shoving more into his mouth in a rather undignified fashion.]
[Later on, he heads towards the fourth floor of the clocktower, trying to get a good look at how the mechanisms operate. He still doesn't have a good sense of his limitations in this form, so he might get closer than is actually safe...]

investigation and some other things
First things first, he goes to the bookstore in search of materials. Ango is a very methodical person, and if he's going to be investigating then he's going to be taking copious notes as he does so. He's totally raiding the stationary section and picking up a few pens as well. It's not quite a notebook, but it's better than nothing.
Next, he goes to the Opera House and starts a search of the place that will likely take a few hours. If he still had his ability then this would be a piece of cake, but without it he can only rely on his investigative senses, which makes it take longer. He does have a peculiar habit of reaching out and touching objects from time to time, only to seem disappointed or slightly miffed shortly after. Hm. How strange.
He does also linger by the profiles for a while, letting out an irritated huff as he looks over his own. But Dazai's profile, that's the one that gets his attention the most. He almost looks sad as he gazes at that picture.]
Dazai-kun... you won't be happy to see this, will you?
[After losing nearly 20 minutes of daytime to a poster, he finally moves on.
His next stop of the day is the tram station, and he's actually going to try walking along the tracks if he can. Will he be able to go anywhere just walking along the tracks, or will fog turn him back around?]

Needless to say that Dist starts out on the wrong side of the bed this morning, grumbling all the way to the kitchen where he only grumbles more because...well...he's not at all used to cooking for himself. He's not desperate enough to accept Rean's offering—trust is not his forte right now—so he has to make do with bread and a shittily-made omelette that is basically unseasoned scrambled eggs.
He takes his breakfast to room XX to eat in solitude, because fuck social dining!! But anyone is welcome to bother him on the way there or even while he's in his room. He spends a bit of time there before venturing out.
...and boy does he wish he hadn't. His suit is going to get ruined in this rain?! At least it influences where he's heading next, which is the market square. He can be found searching the shops for a raincoat or umbrella, though he comes up short. Ugggghhh, RIP his hair too, then.
He almost considers just going back to housing to dry off, but he might as well do some exploring while he's already out. He makes a stop at the bookstore to get some coffee and peruse the selection. He ends up picking out some science and history books and takes them with him so he can read them in his room. He doesn't seem very chatty, but he'll reluctantly hold a conversation if approached.
His last stop is the opera house, where he finds the profiles. He spends a good amount of time studying them, though his own profile gets a vocal reaction from him. An angry one, naturally.]
Did she have to word it like that?!
[He's talking about the Lady though, so of course she had to word it like that.
As evening rolls around (or well...evening by the clock's definition), Dist is back in housing, wearing his priest robes while his suit dries out. They're unsightly, but they're dry. He can be found back in his room, reading the books he had picked out. The door is slightly ajar until nighttime, so feel free to check up on him.]

Investigation: Candle Store
When the rain lets up, he migrates to the candle shop, taking stock of the candles. He's set a few of the make-your-own-scented-candle kits to the side for now, looking for anything of interest he could use for long term survival.
There's just one thing... The thing in the back of his mind. The thing the lady gave him. Did she actually allow him to...?
If you come by the candle shop later in the day, you'll find him muttering dejectedly at a very strange person... Who looks a lot like himself. Most of the conversation is in Cantonese, but every so often he slips out of his native tongue-]

Up first is the bookstore, where Iago's going to pick quite a few books and then find somewhere to sit (probably on the floor, like a heathen) so he can hopefully wait out the rain. Though none of these books are on magic, he seems pretty interested in what he's reading, even if his look is pretty damn skeptical at times. He probably won't mind an interruption all that much, especially if you know how to use that thing to make coffee.
The rain doesn't die off by the time he's decided to leave, so he's smuggling some books and stationary back to his room. After that, Iago heads to the opera house to poke around a bit. That doesn't end up happening, because he gets promptly distracted by the profiles. He's going to read over all of them, but naturally his own is the most important, so he starts there.]
That's rude. It was not sucking up, it was years of hard work!
[...Anyway... If you're here to check the profiles as well, he'll turn to you and gesture to them.]
Are there inaccuracies listed in yours as well?
[That's not an inaccuracy, he's just being picky about the wording...
Eventually he'll make his way back to room IV. The door is slightly ajar if you're interested in talking to him, otherwise you might be able to catch a glimpse of him... playing with a pen. He's absolutely fascinated with this pen, how does it work?? Technology is wild. This is by far the best thing about this place, prove him wrong.]

investigation-opera house
Once he's managed to figure out breakfast, he'll head out on the town and do a little exploration. After the hell that was the kitchen he is not prepared to figure out subways and trams and the weather is completely awful, so he'll head to the opera house, where he. Well. He. He was thinking of doing a little investigation but he gets kind of... distracted by the profiles? Oh goddess. Oh goddess how did that- he's going to have to figure out how to address that, but people probably already saw it...
...well, time to head for the bookstore to pick up some pens, which well, he would probably stop to admire for their sturdiness if he wasn't in panic mode right now. And maybe to the candle store to pick up something he could use to light his way in the opera house, since it was pretty dark in there... and then he's going to return to the opera house to investigate properly. And, uh, see if he can edit his profile a bit. Just... try and cross out the first two digits in his age over the glass, and try and cross out "daughter" and write "younger sister" above it. It's pen on glass, so it's probably not going to be very effective, but, welp. After that, he'll light a candle and head into the restaurant to start out his investigation, with plans to go up to the second auditorium after he's done there.
Later on in the evening (much later, when he thinks no one else is out and about), you can find him at the church standing in front of the altar and praying rather fervently, though quietly. If he detects someone's entry, he will stop and turn to face them.]
...ah, hello. I hope you are holding up well, though if you are feeling troubled, I am willing to listen.

Oooh! That's interesting!
[ His attention seems to pause on a profile or two as he continues to make commentary.
Eventually, his attention will linger on something over in the A's.
Later, he can be found standing in the rain. His hands are in his pants pockets as he looks up at the clock as if he's pondering something.
Once he sees someone is there, he'll give something like a smile. ]

[ aaaaand then she'll brush past you, too. well aren't we just a ray of sunshine today!
at least she's not wandering aimlessly though, because she's going to make her way to the bookstore, towards the non-fiction section, looking for history books of any kind. she'll also be searching for information on religion. what can she find?
regardless of the outcome of her search for history and religion texts, raven can be found heading towards room xxv carrying a stack of books in her hands. maybe give her a hand with opening her door?
around midnight, once the rain clears up, raven can be found at the edge of town square, looking into the distance. she appears to be distant herself, too. ]

Mini-Investigation: Clergy Housing
So instead, he's going to be spending some time in the Clergy Housing proper. First he'll take a better look at his own bedroom. Is there anything here he can find that seems used? Anything noteworthy? Scribbling on the walls? Whatever it is, if anything, he's going over every inch of the room to find it.
Later, he can be find in all of the common rooms of the Clergy Housing, doing the same kind of sweep. If anyone is around, he'll give them a curt nod and otherwise ignore them unless he's spoken to.
Later in the afternoon, whisper of the profiles has reached him and he endures getting wet in order to get to the Opera House and study all of them. Especially his own, which... what? Forgery? He's never forged anything in his life. Normally, he'd get offended, but with everything that has Rembrandt and the Lady know and that he doesn't know... He feels sick. When he leaves the Opera House he is visibly paler than when he came here.
Back at the Clergy Housing, he has to spend considerable time wringing the priest robes out to remove the water. Rip. ]

Like pretty much everyone else today, he eventually ends up at the opera house, specifically because everyone is going there and he wants to see what all the fuss is about.
Oh, that's a good photo of him. And the profile seems accurate enough, too, even if he's a little flustered by the whole world-destroying thing being laid out in the open like that. ]
Well, so much for classified information.
[ Well, whatever; if the department's secrets have already been breached, then it's not on him to bother trying to keep them anymore.
That aside, he's definitely paying attention to everyone else's details, too -- and should anyone come in whose name he doesn't know already, he'll quickly look to their profile to match the names and faces.
(And speaking of names, he is very weirded out by how his looks in this language???)
...At some point late in the evening, if you happen to be in the housing hallway, you might see him crossing from the bathroom to room II, in a priest robe again because it's hilariously the closest thing he has to a bathrobe here, with his hair wrapped up in a towel and looking decidedly displeased. He'd already accepted that he'd have to do without a blow dryer here, but come on. ]

investigation - church
It's really coming down, isn't it? Turns out the weather's no more welcoming than our favorite sneering kidnappers.
[ Dryly. He gives his shoulders a good rub in a lame attempt to get warm before giving up and wringing out the ends of his tunic. Followed by his hoodie. Hello floor, meet water. You're welcome for the introduction. ] Think anyone would object to a small campfire? Outside's no good, but we might be able to manage one inside one of these buildings.
[ If they can find wood anyway. And an area that has enough ventilation so that they don't, y'know, inhale large quantities of smoke. Okay, so maybe firewood will be a no go since there aren't any fireplaces around and thus no freshly chopped wood, but maybe they can just use something else. Wood's wood, right? Who cares if it's furnished (you should care if it's furnished).
When he decides that being indoors is worse than being outside, he can be caught loitering outside in the rain. Too bad he isn't doing much of note besides brazenly braving the storm. The way he sees it, he's already soaked to the bone. Staying out longer isn't going to change that. Neither is coming in for a change of clothes or a hot drink. Besides, he has wandering to do.
Eventually, said wandering takes him to the church. While he's been all over, this is the first place he stays in longer than a few minutes. He starts poking around, mainly by nudging objects to see if they're fastened to the floor or to see if there are any pots about. If his best friend were here, that's where he'd start. So that's where Erik's starting, too. ]
