WEEK 1

Your hosts have come and gone, and have left you with nothing but more questions and a key. Regardless of how you reacted or what you decided to do soon after that, it’s a fact that the day must end eventually.

And so it does, with the striking of the clock. As the twelve gongs reverberate and disappear into the night, the rest of the city is left silent save for a chilly wind that skims the streets. Those who have retired to their assigned rooms will find that the furnishings are decent enough to get a good night’s sleep, while those who wander the city will only continue to see empty streets and fog. But regardless of how you spend the night, eventually it will become readily apparent that dawn will not be coming any time soon as the waxing moon continues to hang in the sky even as the clock strikes six or seven or eight.

No one’s stopping you from wallowing in bed or holing up in a building during this perpetual night, but there’s a whole city out there to check out and some interesting additions to the Opera House decor; don’t forget though, a cage is a cage and every good cage needs its bars. While a portion of the streets and buildings are clear, any intrepid explorers won’t find themselves able to get very far through the fog that surrounds them; anyone who tries to venture through will end up getting turned around and end up right back where they started. Still, there’s plenty of other places to check, even if the fog-shrouded buildings are more or less off limits. Fortune favors the bold, after all.

[Well uh. Honestly, Mikami, everything seems some degree of used. There's no priest graffiti or priest shipping walls or what-have-you, but the drywall isn't pristine--it's yellowed slightly but by age rather than anything else. If he checks out the desk, there will be minor scratches and blemishes on the surface along with faint ink stains and basically what you'd get from everyday wear and tear. Everything is clean though, make no mistake about that; it's akin to being in a well-kept motel room rather than being dumped into the middle of someone's living quarters.]

[ The cleanliness is at least a big relief. Mikami still wants to do some deep-cleaning of his own here if it turns out they're stuck for more than a few days, but for now he's... put at ease.

Not at ease enough to not check out the bath across from the storage though. Same procedure here. It's time to look at all the walls and any cupboards or what there might be and see if anything sticks out. ]

[Beyond your usual amenities like toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, deodorant and soap (but no shampoo), there's nothing unusual about the cupboards. Another one stores some towels and the like too, but there's not nearly enough for everyone to get one for themselves, so enjoy that.

As for the rest of the baths, well. Despite the name there are some shower stalls available too, if that's more your speed and it's as clean as everything else around here. As for the walls, they're like the rooms in that they show signs of age and perhaps a bit of water-staining due to the area but nothing else strange. The mirrors are clean too.

...You can investigate the toilets too, but those will more or less fit the 'perfectly normal' vibe that the rest of the baths share.]

[ Well, he's stealing some of these toiletries for himself now to take to his room. Personal hygiene is no laughing matter! The towels get... a long stare. That's too little. It's just too little. But... in the end his need to be clean wins and he takes one too. Sorry, general populace.

So, let's bring this haul back to his room, lock that again, and then do the other bathroom because why not get these over with now. They're not the most pleasant place to snoop around in. ]

[Being Mikami is suffering, but at least he got some free toiletries out of it. Score?!

I will not provide a loving description of how clean the baths, the shower stalls and the toilets are in the other bathroom because it's more or less the same dealio as the first one. Quite possibly the most significant conclusion Mikami may get is that there are still not enough towels for all of the Survivors at the moment, even if you sum the number that was found in Bathroom #1 with Bathroom #2.

It's inhumane, I tell you.]

[ Having taken a towel was definitely the right choice then. Safely locked in his room, just for him. No need to share with total strangers. He's righteous he deserves this - or so he'd normally think, but even with his righteousness called into question so upsettingly... he still should deserve it, yes.

The next sweeps are, in order, kitchen, dining room, hallway and storage. If they're all ordinary, clean and reasonably-used, he'll give up for the day. ]

[There's nothing out of place for any of those locations, yep. The only things that might be worth noting is that there's only a couple of knives in the kitchen drawer so it's gonna be an issue if people start taking them willy-nilly, and that the storage closet just contains more additional toiletries and some basic cleaning items like bleach, sponges and washcloths and the like.

But no towels.]

[ Well, then he'll take (and later return) some cleaning supplies and make his room even more clean. Mikami standard clean. He has nothing better to do right now and it helps him think. ]

[You do you, Mikami! Just note that the supplies are somewhat limited so if everything gets used up, then well. That's that.]
