WEEK 1

Your hosts have come and gone, and have left you with nothing but more questions and a key. Regardless of how you reacted or what you decided to do soon after that, it’s a fact that the day must end eventually.

And so it does, with the striking of the clock. As the twelve gongs reverberate and disappear into the night, the rest of the city is left silent save for a chilly wind that skims the streets. Those who have retired to their assigned rooms will find that the furnishings are decent enough to get a good night’s sleep, while those who wander the city will only continue to see empty streets and fog. But regardless of how you spend the night, eventually it will become readily apparent that dawn will not be coming any time soon as the waxing moon continues to hang in the sky even as the clock strikes six or seven or eight.

No one’s stopping you from wallowing in bed or holing up in a building during this perpetual night, but there’s a whole city out there to check out and some interesting additions to the Opera House decor; don’t forget though, a cage is a cage and every good cage needs its bars. While a portion of the streets and buildings are clear, any intrepid explorers won’t find themselves able to get very far through the fog that surrounds them; anyone who tries to venture through will end up getting turned around and end up right back where they started. Still, there’s plenty of other places to check, even if the fog-shrouded buildings are more or less off limits. Fortune favors the bold, after all.

[You know, as much as Cumore tends to look and act the part of spoiled nobility, the fact of the matter is that he's a ridiculous morning person - he's used to overseeing drills well before sunrise, so it's only natural that he would be up and in one of the common areas of this hellhole, watching Rean doing...whatever it is Rean is doing.]

Well, it's good to see someone not letting this place get to them.

[He remembers Rean from the day before, obviously, all the bravado and bullshit was a little disgusting? But you know what, he at least has the common sense to not go about deliberately making enemies with people he hasn't even spoken to personally yet.]

[ Rean wasn't really expecting many to be up at this hour, but at least him considering the possibility that someone else could be didn't make it a surprise that someone was. Though...he hadn't expected it to be Cumore. ]

Haha, well...I didn't think this was a situation that anyone can afford to. At least not for long.

Those two would take advantage if someone did.

[ He's sure of that at least. And with how hard he saw they were trying to pit everyone against each other, he thought this should help fight against that. Hopefully. ]

Oh, I'm sure they will. What with all that talk about making it worth our while, trying to make it seem as though they know us and all.

[Speaking of things that are a little disgusting, that was a little much, good fucking god.]

You're up early, incidentally. Can't sleep, or force of habit?

[ He was actually with Cumore on that. 100%, because dear Aidios. ]

Yeah. If anything, that just felt like they were getting desperate to have a reaction.

[ Rean supposed that it worked, to a degree. But it was irritating, to say the least. ]

You'd be right that it's a habit. I'm used to getting up this early back home at the academy, so it's hard to shake it. What about you?

...Likewise, I suppose. I ensure that my troops are up before dawn for drills; I dislike wasting daylight hours.

Not like that seems to matter here. Judging by the note we were given, we arrived here shortly after noon yesterday and it was impossible to tell that.

...That's right, that profile did mention something about you being the Captain of the Imperial Knights, didn't it?

[ So it'd make sense for someone else who was military-inclined to have an early morning schedule. ]

It's really strange. I'm not sure what sort of ability or circumstances that's causing this constant darkness, but I doubt it's anything good.

[ He hadn't thought too much about it yesterday, with everything that was going on. ]

[He hasn't seen the profiles yet, but he is making a note of that, damn.]

I've never seen anything like it. Taking out the power to an area is one thing, perpetual night is something else entirely.

[ Night vision googles might start coming in handy sooner than later, and so he made a note to check out that shop again. ]

I've seen the sky darken before, but I don't think it's been anything like this. Though, at least it's easy to guess why the fog's there.

And yet I'm certain if we asked her about it, we would simply get an answer about how it adds to the atmosphere around this place.

Haha, yeah...what would she do without being able to give a useless answer like that?

[ They bring out a little sass from him but that's probably unsurprising. ]

She clearly thinks she's so clever for it, too.

The other one seems to hand out answers that are slightly less insipid, but he's not terribly useful either.

I almost don't understand how.

[ It's been awhile since he's seen quite an ego... ]

I'm sure that's definitely one of the big reasons why she has him around.

...It also seems there may be personal reasons.

[He didn't remark on it, but the very much was an entire section of meeting centered on Y'ALL BE FUCKING.]

[ DEAR AIDIOS...that indeed was a thing that happened. ]

I'd thought maybe there was a misunderstanding at a certain time during one of their conversations yesterday, but...they do get along really well.

[ They did really seem like a married couple, so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise. ]
