WEEK 1

Your hosts have come and gone, and have left you with nothing but more questions and a key. Regardless of how you reacted or what you decided to do soon after that, it’s a fact that the day must end eventually.

And so it does, with the striking of the clock. As the twelve gongs reverberate and disappear into the night, the rest of the city is left silent save for a chilly wind that skims the streets. Those who have retired to their assigned rooms will find that the furnishings are decent enough to get a good night’s sleep, while those who wander the city will only continue to see empty streets and fog. But regardless of how you spend the night, eventually it will become readily apparent that dawn will not be coming any time soon as the waxing moon continues to hang in the sky even as the clock strikes six or seven or eight.

No one’s stopping you from wallowing in bed or holing up in a building during this perpetual night, but there’s a whole city out there to check out and some interesting additions to the Opera House decor; don’t forget though, a cage is a cage and every good cage needs its bars. While a portion of the streets and buildings are clear, any intrepid explorers won’t find themselves able to get very far through the fog that surrounds them; anyone who tries to venture through will end up getting turned around and end up right back where they started. Still, there’s plenty of other places to check, even if the fog-shrouded buildings are more or less off limits. Fortune favors the bold, after all.

Have you heard of them? [ He blinks once, because everyone else he's run into has had no idea. ]

Only figurative ones I'm afraid. [ If his eyes could twinkle they would. But he's got those dead fish eyes, y'know. ]

Yes, that's pretty much it.

Oh...well that's a good thing then. [ A bright smile. ]

Did you used to fight when you weren't old then?

[ Grandpa's smile turns a bit sad. ]

I started fighting when I was just a little boy.

...that's a really long time for a human. [ Or a special human, as it were. ]

Food Souls were made to fight, so it's different for us and I don't mind helping out however I can. [ ... ] But you don't have to fight anymore, right?

Yes... It has been.

[ And he folds his hands under his chin. ] What do you think?

I think... [ He looks to Hyoubu and then looks away. ]

I think you probably fight now too, even if you don't really want to anymore.

Close! I'm quite fine with fighting. There's things worth fighting for, even if it takes a whole lifetime and beyond.

Oh! [ He brightens up again. ]

That's good then! And I agree, I'll fight my whole life if I have to!

You should live happily if you can though, while you're young. [ but he thinks you're a good boy.]

Pizza is pretty old, but I'm not that old yet! You're pretty good at this, Mr. [ hm he. should probably ask for his name. ]

Pizza, is it? Nice to meet you... Pizza. [ Would it a be a compliment or an afront that Yoh ate a lot of pizzas. Well. No chances he guesses. ]

[ This is the best day of Pizza's life in Krakow because he finally got a high five! See this is how you do it Iago. As if Iago would be watching or care. ]

Then we're officially friends now! But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop playing pranks on you.

[ He is a tall boy! ]

I dare you! I'm pretty good at them, so I'm pretty good at not falling for them either. [ This is a lie. ]

I'll be sure to be extra sneaky then. [ He says, putting his head on a hand, amused.]

Do your best. Whenever you're done being a sleepyhead. [ This is where he would pat Cheese or Cassata but Hyoubu is older than him and human. Head pat denial... ]
