WEEK 4
WEEK 4
Last week could probably only be summed up as a mess. Three people died, one was turned to currency and the hotel pool remains in a general state of unusability unless swimming in pulpy mush is someone’s idea of a good time. And that’s not even counting the haunted morse code T-Rex. At least the greenhouse is as relaxing as ever, even if someone seems to have made off with a number of succulents and cacti.
But with the new week comes a new set of locations to explore as the fog retreats to reveal another portion of the city. The half moon wanes to a new moon this week, leaving streets even dimmer this week -- hopefully you have some other portable sources of light available if you plan on straying too far beyond the reach of the lampposts in the new areas.
[[Welcome to Week 4! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 4 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]
Tarot 'readings'
Care to get your fortune read? I can answer specific questions or give you general guidance for your future.
[Fair warning: Ango knows absolutely nothing about Tarot and will 100% be making up his 'readings' based on the images on the cards.]

Go for it.

[ Most of the things he'd want answers to -- if this wasn't bullshit, that is -- aren't things he wants anyone to know he worries about, so. ]

Now, these cards won't give you just a cut-and-dry answer. It's not like asking a yes-or-no question. Each card represents a general idea, and it takes three to paint a decent picture of what your future holds for you. The first card represents who you are now, the second is what you must do, and the third is how you will do it.
[#bullshitting so much right now.
The first card he flips is the king of pentacles. And we'll say the cards also have the name on them so Ango doesn't fuck up his con.]
This one here doesn't necessarily mean a literal 'king', though it can represent someone with quite a bit of power, be it literal, social, or economical power. See how he is covered in plants? This shows that his power is 'natural' to him, and he was likely born into it or inherited it based on his own merits. Likewise, that is who you are: someone with power, and that power came to you naturally.

I told you it would be fun. But please, I want to hear what my future holds according to your vision and what wisdom the cards can impart on you.
no subject
You're not wrong! And I think I can draw just one card to see what's in your immediate future.
[But that one card is. Hm.]
Now I know this looks bad, and...okay, yes. It can be bad. But old foundations must be ripped up to build anew, yes? That's what this is saying about you: in order to move forward, you have to get rid of what you used to know.

Oh dear. Well, I suppose if I turn up dead this week, everyone can blame you.

[SHUFFLE SHUFFLE and first card revealed: ten of cups.]
Ah. You're a generally cheerful person, aren't you? As I'm sure you can guess from the image, this card represents a general sense of happiness. Maybe not at the specific situation we are in now, but generally speaking you're more of a positive person.
no subject
[ He listens to Ango, and... welp. ]
I definitely try. You have to stay positive when you've done the sort of things I have.

[ He may have seen it done before, but he will hold his hand out for the booklet, before shuffling the cards and drawing one.
It's the King of Pentacles. ]
Here's the past card. [ Skimming the booklet. ] Looks like all your cautious work is leading you to success. It means abundance, prosperity, and security.

Let's see what general guidance has to say, first.

[Ango deals out three cards, and the first is a nine of pentacles. But when he flips it over, it's upside-down.]
Now this is interesting. Each card has a meaning, but when a card is shown upside-down like this, then we are meant to infer the opposite of the card's meaning. While the nine of pentacles normally means being rich and plentiful, having it reversed like this means recklessness with wealth and living beyond one's means.

[Shuffle shuffle, and three cards laid out! First is queen of cups, which makes Ango smile.]
You're a very compassionate person, aren't you? It's easy for you to empathize with others and want to do right by them. And this is innate to you too, it's not something you have to work at or do on purpose. You're just a generally nice person.
no subject
...You're right that it's something I try my best to be.
It feels a little like the cards just know who's getting this reading...
[ Could it be...the heart of the card? Wait no, that's Yu-Gi-Oh. ]

[It seems to be mostly rhetorical, Ulquiorra staring flatly over the so-called slips of paper with the most maximum doubt that ever doubted. Fatalistic, nihilistic, all those -istics he might be but tarot yoloing is still going a little far into the silly zone for him.
Unsure if this is a challenge or not. Up to Ango.]
