EPILOGUE

As the world they've been living in so long quickly dissolves around them, the oppressive air from the Gate fades away from their senses and their vision turns turns completely white. It only takes an instant for their sight to return, but when it does, they'll find themselves in the same dim, dank chamber that they were in a moment before albeit with several main differences: the Gate and the machines that were clustered near it are now gone.

However, you'll only be able to take in this sight for a few seconds before the scenery blurs and suddenly there's the scent of the cool December air brushing past your face, blinding sunlight assaulting the eyes.

It's been six weeks since you've seen anything but the night, so it may take a bit of adjustment before realizing that there's a number of very, very familiar faces before you, as well as one who might not be so recognizable. Either way, one thing is for sure: that long, long Night is over, and it's the start of another Day.

[ the sun is definitely blinding, and raven needs more than a few moments to adjust to it. her hand comes up and over her eyes, filtering out the sun rays as she emerges back into the light again.

it's been too long since she's seen the sun. she relaxes in it for a while...before she just lets out the longest, most drawn-out sigh in krakow. ]

...I don't even want to try to fathom what just happened right now.

[So Cumore is not going to be terribly difficult to find, seeing as he's just going to need to take several minutes to regroup himself, which really just means that he's finding the nearest bench in the square for the sake of sitting down, burying his face in his hands and fucking shrieking into them.

...People were somehow surprised that he has Sonui.

Once he's done...that, however, he looks decidedly less like he's going to stab someone, cry, or stab someone while crying. He's still not together but he's getting there, even if everything is kind of a tremendous "what now" and he doesn't know what to say to any of these people.

The sun is nice, though. He's not going to complain about the sun. Even if it's illuminating the architecture, which he still kind of hates.]

[ Once he's gotten even slightly used to the sunlight, Mikami is going to rush to find Cumore. This was... this was a mess and he's got so much to make up for. Even if technically he never betrayed their promises, even if technically he only played with the thought--- and it was a righteous thought, mind you! Even then.

Once he arrives at the bench, there's only going to be a deep bow. He's not getting on his knees on the dirty floor, but he's bowing as deep as his body will let him. ]

I apologize. I apologize for what I considered. I'm still yours to decide over - whether you keep me or not is your decision and I will accept any judgment. But for what it's worth, I am sorry.

[He heard how everything went down after his death, so...yeah. That really means a lot to him. Cumore dealt with so much shit that weekend.]

[Just hanging out here looking exactly like himself, drinking an iced tea and apparently sitting on like a bench or something next to a whole lot of McDonald's takeout. And popcorn. And empty wrappers.

It's unlikely that he even consumed most of that, but whatever.

[ Among all the survivors, no in-births, you'll find someone who doesn't belong. His red eyes look familiar though, even if his looks have changed yet again. ]

My, the sun is nice to see even for someone like me. [ Feel free to yell at him, fight him, or really just ask him if he can send them all home. ]

[GODS WHY IS IT SO BRIGHT, just put him back in Nohr where we never see the sun, that almost sounds preferable to this hell—

Anyway, looks like we survived. Somehow. Seriously, that was looking really rough for awhile there and once Iago has taken a moment to get used to his surroundings, he promptly decides he's not ready to deal with Krakow But Daytime right now. He sort of wants to just sit down and scream into his hands for the next three years, but he's got more important things to worry about.

First of all, he's going to be looking out for Cumore. He's going to be prioritizing Cumore for a bit until he's pretty damn sure Cumore will be fine on his own because sometimes your friend just kind of breaks and you have to sit there with him until he starts feeling better. It happens. A lot.

Anyway, after that he's not going to investigate anywhere, but he will be just sort of wandering around, marveling at everything in the daylight. It's like a whole different city, damn!! Feel free to find him anywhere in the main square; he's not going too far since there are some people he really wants to see and wouldn't dream of potentially missing them by wandering off.]

[Once Iago is on his own, he'll find that someone has been looking for him. Judging from the shout that comes from behind him, anyway. It's been a couple days since he last heard it. A long couple days. This time, though, it's in person.]

Well, he looks as dumbfounded as he’s been feeling for the past while, and he almost... kind of collapses in... relief? Exhaustion? Yeah, it’s probably exhaustion. He’s just... wow, this has all been a lot, and he looks for something to steady himself on something or other.]

I think I owe you an apology, for getting out of sorts there at the final stretch, and being unable to get it all under control for a long while.

Haha!! Well, as I suspected-- there was nothing to worry about after all.

[It certainly feels good when the faith you put in others pays off so nicely. But he hadn't been all that worried. Regardless, he'd made his preparations before his death. But it feels nice to have an even better ending than he'd anticipated.]

Well, we can all guess where he's going whenever he has the chance -- go hit the bar if you're looking for him. He'll actually have chilled out a little by that point, at least, and will be looking thoughtfully into his drink.

He's still mad as hell, but this isn't the worst that could have happened. To him, specifically. ]

[When everyone regroups in the Day, there is one glasses-wearing individual who is standing a bit off from everyone else. He looks a little apprehensive too, because he's totally expecting to get punched a few times.

But if you're not here to punch him, Ango will talk. He's just not sure what to say to the living quite yet.]

[ Well, Rideaux isn't that eager to be near most of them either, even if their reasons are different, so he'll come over before he heads to the bar. ]

I'd say we should give our cop routine one last try on Iago, but I think he hates you even more than he does me now.

[ It is a shame they never really got to put it into action, though. ]

[ Well, they're... back??? Or one step closer to being back in their homes. He wants to leave immediately and run back to his world and his friends—he's thought of nothing else since coming here—but there are things to work out.

Contracts, waiting on reunions, waiting for Rembrandt to send everyone back (which he probably can if he brought them here in the first place).

If you want to catch him to talk, feel free! He's around but looking for Rembrandt. ]

[ Goes to hand Erik some Stuff in a Mcdonalds bag. They're a bit dirty from being on the ground, but should be fine. It's the things needed for demon banishment stuff.

He doesn't say anything before going off his own way. ]

[Dist is still a bit lost for words when everyone from the Night arrives. Even though he has been here for a few days, only now does everything feel...real. They actually made it out of this. And while he seems tired and contemplative over how it all panned out, he can't help but find happiness in that. The future is still uncertain, but at least he won't be alone in it.

He'll be around to catch up with everyone, though! And he'll be trying to discard the empty McDonald's wrappers before anyone comes up to him. He doesn't eat that garbage! Not at all!!!]

[ He'll smile weakly as he caught one empty McD's wrapper, but he won't say anything about it. ]

It's good to see you again and that everyone else made out okay. It'd been awhile, and things were getting really difficult for awhile...but it all worked out.

[ Well, that was-- He's not sure what happened here, and he looks pretty bewildered, actually? One moment he'd gotten caught up in all that fog and the next.... Once he learns what all happened, he's significantly less confused, but also, it's still pretty disorienting to know he lost such an amount of time.

After that, he's gonna be around--either here to approach, or approaching people to check up on them. Or... he's off by himself a little way, perhaps seated on one of the higher floors of the clock tower. When he's at the clock tower, he looks... well, pensive is a word for it, but there's something that runs much deeper than that. ]

[ This all sure happened. Mikami's... he's relieved? He's more relieved than a man who just missed the chance to save (?) his world should be. While immediately after waking up, he's off to save his relationship, he can later be found alone in the main square. He's just kind of squinting at the buildings around them, because... what was it that caused all of this to be ripped from the tourism magazines? It's driving him a little crazy.

Or you can find him in the bookstore, where he is... looting? Yeah, he's looting. The selection here isn't great for his standards, but he needs to take some Earth books to fantasy world or he'll die. For someone who values the law, he is sure looking fairly relaxed and contented while stealing......... This time did a number on him. ]

[ It's bright and so very arm. He's squinting at sky for a moment before he starts laughing. All the stress, drama, and everything just hits him all at once. He's reaching up to cover his face with his arm.

It takes a few moments to calm down. Then he's just going to sit down on the ground right there. ]

I wasn't sure for a bit there, but... [ Making a sigh. ] There was something beautiful about everyone trying so hard.

[ Yeah, that's all he has for now. He's tired. ]

[ Rean will be coming over to him, and he'll look at least kind of sheepish. ]

I'm sorry for giving you so much trouble, but...I appreciate your efforts in all of this and for looking out for me in your own way.

We managed to somehow come out on top out of all of this, after all.

[ You're used to seeing a certain blond woman by now, but off to the side in the square is a blond girl, observing everyone with her arms crossed. ]

If you destroy anything, I'm sending you the bill. [ That's not all she has to say but it's a start, and she's very visibly glaring at the leashed again demon whenever she catches him. But getting all these people off her lawn is her first priority. ]

[ wanders to wagner-chan because of course he does. He's sighing because that was a long popcorn session full of headaches. ] All's well that ends well, maybe?

[ He's on a roof. His powers aren't anywhere near full capacity, but he's managed. Slow steps up to get up here. He can't just float, so this will do to get away from people. He only really gets along with four people, so he doesn't really want to deal with this influx. Maybe in a few hours more he can do some healing too if the bio-control kicks in.

He also just really wants to go home. ]
