EPILOGUE
As the world they've been living in so long quickly dissolves around them, the oppressive air from the Gate fades away from their senses and their vision turns turns completely white. It only takes an instant for their sight to return, but when it does, they'll find themselves in the same dim, dank chamber that they were in a moment before albeit with several main differences: the Gate and the machines that were clustered near it are now gone.
However, you'll only be able to take in this sight for a few seconds before the scenery blurs and suddenly there's the scent of the cool December air brushing past your face, blinding sunlight assaulting the eyes.
It's been six weeks since you've seen anything but the night, so it may take a bit of adjustment before realizing that there's a number of very, very familiar faces before you, as well as one who might not be so recognizable. Either way, one thing is for sure: that long, long Night is over, and it's the start of another Day.
Witamy w Krakowie.
[[Everyone will find themselves in the Main Square. Furthermore, those who had body horror will find that all traces of it are gone!]]

Anyway, looks like we survived. Somehow. Seriously, that was looking really rough for awhile there and once Iago has taken a moment to get used to his surroundings, he promptly decides he's not ready to deal with Krakow But Daytime right now. He sort of wants to just sit down and scream into his hands for the next three years, but he's got more important things to worry about.
First of all, he's going to be looking out for Cumore. He's going to be prioritizing Cumore for a bit until he's pretty damn sure Cumore will be fine on his own because sometimes your friend just kind of breaks and you have to sit there with him until he starts feeling better. It happens. A lot.
Anyway, after that he's not going to investigate anywhere, but he will be just sort of wandering around, marveling at everything in the daylight. It's like a whole different city, damn!! Feel free to find him anywhere in the main square; he's not going too far since there are some people he really wants to see and wouldn't dream of potentially missing them by wandering off.]

Iago!

Dist!
[There isn't any hesitation when he moves forward and wraps his arms tightly around Dist's waist. If he had a strength stat, this might possibly be painful, but thankfully he doesn't.]
You're here. You're here...
[Give him a moment. He hasn't forgotten about the name at all, but for right now... Well, he needs a bit. He's been barely holding himself together for a whole damn week, after all.]
no subject
As are you, my dear Iago.
[He's trying his best not to lose his cool immediately, but he can't help it.]
You did so well. I am so incredibly proud of you.
no subject
[It's just a shame it wasn't enough to wrap this up nice and neatly. Still, the Lady lies dead, and he's confident Rembrandt won't be a threat for as long as he's tied to Erik.]
I... I have missed you so much. More than I can ever express.
[He's already said as much - more times than either of them probably care to remember, really - but there's a weight to it now that it lacked every time before, almost like he's leading up to something else.]

Rean was starting to worry...I mean, once he got his senses back, and then he'll approach the other man hesitantly. Because uh, that sure was a lot back there that he also ended up participating in. ]
...It really does look nice like this, doesn't it?
no subject
[He's not sure what to do with it, but after a moment he turns to look at Rean.]
...Are you okay?
[...there's no nice way to ask "what the fuck happened there".]
no subject
...I think so. I'm mostly just tired right now...I think what happened drained me a lot.
[ He'll pause. It's a long, awkward pause, but it's clear he wanted to say something as it felt like his emotions twisted uncomfortably inside of him. Not for...demonic ogre reasons, but because of just, having shown that to everyone.
Some lingering anxiety for the road. ]
I'm sorry you had to see me like that.
no subject
Rean, I quite literally told you I would be fine with torture, you really don't need to apologize to me for something like that.
[LIKE. JUST GETTING THAT OUT THERE, BUDDY.]
It seemed as though you couldn't control yourself. Is that what happened?
[He doesn't expect Rean to open up and discuss it, but like... are you gonna be okay...]

Hm. You know, I wonder if we could come into some currency here before we leave. There is something I would like to try...

[He'll incline his head toward the direction of the clergy housing; let's go see if we can find some more goddamn skala!!!!! He doesn't even question this. This might as well be happening, just like everything else.]

I never got the chance to express my gratitude for silencing her.

[He doesn't even look surprised at the different appearance. This might as well happen. That's been his motto all damn day and it sure as hell isn't changing now.]
I'm pleased it worked out as well as it did. At least until some people decided to be stupid.
[He is a genius tactician who... literally had nothing else up his sleeves, that was it, his one plan. But hey, his one plan worked out, sort of, so surely that counts for something!!]
You have my thanks for giving me all the information I needed for that plan. I wanted her dead.
[Second only to reuniting with the dead and getting out of there alive.]
no subject
I believe just about everyone did. And now that I am able to speak freely, I tired of her about halfway through this ordeal.

But towards Iago, there is only a slight bow of his head and not a real bow. ]
I apologize for concerning you today. Your work was formidable.
[ In the first half of trial anyway, he's still :/ about the whole post-Lady-death situation. ]
no subject
Anyway, he nods a bit at that; acknowledgement, not dismissal.]
I told you people to stop underestimating me. Though really, it was Cumore's power that made that possible at all. Had he any other power, we would have been in trouble.
[Yes, his entire plan hinged on shutting the Lady up. That was it, that was the plan.]
Don't ever speak that way around Cumore again, do you understand me? I don't care if you want to put yourself at risk around anyone else, but don't do that to him.
[He is not usually this blatant about caring about someone if they aren't Dist, but listen!!! Listen. Cumore is Very Important, okay.]
no subject
I don't think the risk was the issue here so much as the fact that I might have left him.
[ Just saying. Like, it'd be nice to compartmentalize this as Cumore being worried for him, but beyond that... they've certainly had agreements and Mikami was about to violate a lot of those. ]
Which I do not intend to ever do again. You've phrased it in a lot of bothersome ways, but in the end, you were exactly right about my feelings towards him.

she finds him and gives him a smirk. ]
Well done, Iago.

So when Raven approaches, he nods in greeting, no more irritated at her than he would be at any other day; though that is primarily because things ended up working out surprisingly well anyway.]
I did warn you all not to underestimate me. Countless times.
[He pauses for a moment and then shakes his head. He's smiling, but it's a wry expression.]
In truth, I'm dreadful at reacting to sudden changes and this experience has been nothing but that. I was only able to come up with that plan thanks to Rembrandt's information and Cumore's ability. Without either of those, I wouldn't have known how to proceed.
[He was close with the Lady, but he wasn't sure exactly how to proceed without potentially making things infinitely worse, so he'd opted for the safer option. Which involved silencing the room and praying to whatever deity would listen that the rest of them would be adaptable enough to deal with whatever happened next, but hey, it worked out! The one time he actually attempted to have any faith in anyone else and it worked. Well, up until Raven stopped Rean from killing the Lady and Dazai knocked her out and things rapidly spiraled out of control again, but you know. This may as well happen.]
You have my thanks for rushing in when you did. [He inclines his head a bit.] I am sorry about your hair.
[it was a dramatic anime haircut and it was super cool, but now your hair is short.....]
no subject
[ if lucrezia had ordered rembrandt to do anything to everyone else while rean and raven were fighting her...yeah. people might've been toast. they all might've been toast. ]
Don't be sorry. It's a price worth paying. [ honestly...she's mildly miffed that her hair's now a short, ragged mess but she'd take that over her life, obviously. ]
...I didn't kill her because I knew it was what she wanted. I was concerned that it would've unleashed something far greater than whatever any of us could have handled, something more terrifying than Rembrandt himself. That, or some part of the world would've fallen apart and would have made it that much harder for us to get out alive.
[ ... ] Clearly, that wasn't the case. I'm glad for it.

Ah—
[TOO LATE, he barely has time to turn before suddenly Pizza's hugging him.
Weeks ago - even around the time of Pizza's death - the contact would have made him flinch and struggle to escape. But much like a feral cat who has been gently treated with a lot of patience and care, Iago has been socialized into finding hugs acceptable, even though he's really only managed this with two people so far. Make it three now, since he settles easily once the initial surprise wears off and he carefully returns it.]
Don't startle me like that. And be careful, you could have knocked me over.
[It's surprisingly gentle chiding considering how flustered Pizza usually makes him.]
