EPILOGUE
As the world they've been living in so long quickly dissolves around them, the oppressive air from the Gate fades away from their senses and their vision turns turns completely white. It only takes an instant for their sight to return, but when it does, they'll find themselves in the same dim, dank chamber that they were in a moment before albeit with several main differences: the Gate and the machines that were clustered near it are now gone.
However, you'll only be able to take in this sight for a few seconds before the scenery blurs and suddenly there's the scent of the cool December air brushing past your face, blinding sunlight assaulting the eyes.
It's been six weeks since you've seen anything but the night, so it may take a bit of adjustment before realizing that there's a number of very, very familiar faces before you, as well as one who might not be so recognizable. Either way, one thing is for sure: that long, long Night is over, and it's the start of another Day.
Witamy w Krakowie.
[[Everyone will find themselves in the Main Square. Furthermore, those who had body horror will find that all traces of it are gone!]]

[ He has wasted THIS MUCH TIME on the lamp posts? The lamp posts that they later learned about anyway and that didn't particularly help them with solving this mess anyway? Those lamp posts? Wow. This is. underwhelming. ]
What an inane way to conceal it.

[ HE'S SO MAD ABOUT HOW MUCH TIME HE WASTED ON THIS. ]
What an utterly despicable woman.
[ Not just because of the magazines but also in general. ]

By the way, by whose hand would I have died? Did God already plan for it all along?
[ Because now that he thinks about it, if his death was actually fated via the Kira murder weapon instead of being general ~divine retribution~ then the timing of him being written doesn't make much sense. ]

But he goes quiet at this for a good moment. ]
... then he really did decide to discard of me ahead of time.
[ He cannot fathom the idea of anybody else using the notebook right now because his memories aren't there! Awkward misunderstandings!
From his perspective, Light has killed him before the finale even came to be and... well, that is sobering in a way. ]
I suppose all I did or didn't do was according to his wishes as well then.

And what of your future? Will that be in accordance with his wishes?

Breathe in. Breathe out. He's got this. Maybe. ]
Not directly. But I am removed from the world he wanted me gone from all the same - and I will spread his justice to a place he never even knew of.

Ohoh... I'll keep my ears open. [ Just in case that doesn't work out, yknow. ]

[ NOT THAT HE'S CONSIDERING. Cumore would skin him alive. ]

[ Though he's not in any danger of wanting to make the contract now, it still seems like the cleanest and easiest solution to a lot of problems. Maybe removing it from the equation entirely is the best thing he can hope for to honor his promises to the others. Hm. ]

[ Though he doesn't strictly like or dislike Rembrandt, Mikami is very far from caring about his well-being on any level. ]
As for me or him... isn't it all the same? I can't say selling one's soul isn't inherently an awful deal.
[ ..... or maybe he can say it, but. Shh. ]

Most desires can be accomplished with hard work and dedication and an intact soul, really.

But I won't belabor the point while you're not yet ready.

[ This is a lie, but he is grateful to be done with the subject anyway. ]
