Last week could probably only be summed up as a mess. Three people died, one was turned to currency and the hotel pool remains in a general state of unusability unless swimming in pulpy mush is someone’s idea of a good time. And that’s not even counting the haunted morse code T-Rex. At least the greenhouse is as relaxing as ever, even if someone seems to have made off with a number of succulents and cacti.

But with the new week comes a new set of locations to explore as the fog retreats to reveal another portion of the city. The half moon wanes to a new moon this week, leaving streets even dimmer this week -- hopefully you have some other portable sources of light available if you plan on straying too far beyond the reach of the lampposts in the new areas.

[Dist is here...but for all of his projected charisma, he is actually a pretty big wallflower when it comes to parties. Why? Well...he's a fucking nerd, do you think he was ever invited to them in his younger years? Better yet, do you think he had the time to attend one in his younger years?

The answer is no, to all of the above.

So despite the fact that he has dressed his best in new clothes from the boutique, has his makeup and hair done perfectly, and has his party food at the ready, he...kind of meanders at one of the tables. He did bring his mini Kaiser Dist RX as a potential discussion piece, at least. But no, it is not for use in a game of Hot Potato this time!!!

At some point during the party, he can be found writing in the journal. Considering it's public information, it's nothing too crazy. He just writes a bit about his world, Auldrant, and the magical aspect of its technology as well as his robots. He can be asked about it too!]

[ Wallflowers united. Mikami is grateful for the little robot as a conversation piece, truth be told, because if he's engaging with Dist about something, he can maybe escape Dazai. He likes escaping Dazai.

So hey, let's... make awkward conversation over here. ]

[The conversation doesn't need to be awkward!! In fact, talking about his creations is something Dist is really good at.]

It is indeed! Though this is nowhere near its original size. In actuality, the Kaiser Dist RX is about fifteen feet tall.

[His disappointment was immeasurable when Rean brought it to him, honestly.]

[ Then they have one conversationalist among them! Dist, we're counting on you! At least Mikami is genuinely curious about the little robot, though. As much as he's running from Dazai, it's not a totally heartless conversation. ]

Oh. Then it's no wonder you took to looking at the trams so quickly... You're an expert in big machinery. What is this one used for, in its usual size?

Precisely! I greatly enjoy working with large machines and computer-operated technology.

[None of which he has really had the pleasure of messing around with in Krakow...but his lucky break is coming with the trams at least.]

As for my Kaiser Dist line...they are designed for combat. [He motions at the various appendages.] These are all weapons suited for dealing with large waves of enemies. Of course, the drills are also useful for construction, but combat is the primary function.

[ Kind of hard to imagine this tiny thing functioning in a real battle, but Mikami will squint at the appendages and try his best to really imagine it. The attempt to take it seriously and understand is there! ]

Is your homeworld currently at war then?

[It's like you've never been invited to a party before, Dist!! Come on, enjoy yourself a little!! Anyway, here's Iago, claiming a seat beside Dist and... immediately getting distracted from whatever he was about to say when he notices the robot. Isn't that the thing he threw away...?? He just. won't. mention that. It's fine!!]

Ah, I completely forgot to ask you about this! I saw it on your desk, but it simply slipped my mind. This is something you've created, isn't it?

[He's not going to reach out to touch or anything, but it's obvious he's very fascinated by it.]

[Listen...he's perfectly fine making conversation at the tables. People are coming to him, so it's been working out!]

Fortunately for you, I have brought it along to remind you.

[Like, that wasn't his specific reason for bringing it along, but he's glad that Iago asked because he's been meaning to show it off.]

Yes, this is mine. It is called the Kaiser Dist RX- one of many models in my Kaiser Dist line. I was actually working on a brand new model before I was brought here, but I suppose a finished model is better to have on hand. [...] Never mind the fact that it is extremely downsized and nonfunctional.

[It's still cute, at least.]

[Time to pick it up!! He definitely had his hands on it earlier, but he didn't really pay too much attention to it. Now that he's studying it, he has a better idea of just what a "robot" really is. A metal, man-made golem certainly isn't far off the mark, as far as he's concerned.]

This is fascinating, Dist. How large is it usually? It is usually capable of combat, correct? How does it fight?

[...he is absolutely going to be bombarding Dist with questions for the next ever, be prepared.]

[He is here with answers!! Especially since Iago opened up with calling it fascinating. That's definitely what he likes to hear.]

About fifteen feet tall. It is large enough to handle large groups of enemies, and its weapons keep them from attempting to do any damage.

[He points at the robot's various appendages.]

Its primary weapons are these drills here. They can also be used as bludgeoning weapons to knock enemies away or smash them into the ground. This arm here has a gripping saw blade, this arm fires explosive rounds form its cylinder...and most deadly of all are these arms that can fire twin lasers!

[Next up, he points at the weird tube things on either side of it.]

These are propulsion devices that allow it to launch itself into the air to cover more ground. When I create a new Kaiser Dist model, I make sure absolutely all of my bases are covered.

I am still absolutely baffled how your fellow Oracle Knights can treat you so poorly when you're capable of creating something like this.

This is absolutely stunning, Dist. If I had technology like this, Hoshido would have been under Nohr's control long ago. I want to see it once you've completed it.

[Never mind that world-hopping might not be a thing, he's not particularly in the mood to think about that right now.]

[ It was the same in his own, but he hadn't known if that held true for the rest. ]

[...he's not actually mad about it, though. He sets the pen down for a moment to face Rean properly.]

In some of it, yes. It is called fonic technology, and I am particularly skilled in engineering it.

...Aha, sorry. I guess I am a little.

[ Even so, Rean looked a little sheepish, but hey now his curiosity was even more piqued. ]

Well, I've certainly never heard of it before. How do you make it work? Casting something like an art on a machine and then do some ... engineering?

[ Rean's familiar with 'magic' moreso when it came to orbal arts, so of course he'll call it an 'art. ]

[Honestly, Dist is grateful for the familiar terminology. Though really Rean, what kind of guesswork is that...]

Actually, fonic technology bypasses the need to cast an arte. That is what makes it so useful, as particular artes can be difficult to cast in the first place. It is able to produce the effects of a fonic arte without the need of a fonic glyph.

[...and in case Rean glazed over the bits about fonons:]

Fonons are the particles that make up my world and theoretically, the universe. They are utilized to cast artes and operate fonic technology.

[ He...tried...Rean was definitely not a science person.

...Thank you for the explanation. It's been interesting learning about how different the worlds outside of my own are.

It's amazing you can make fonic technology without casting an art, though.

I am indeed. I haven't been to many gatherings like this, but it has been surprisingly entertaining to watch everyone go about their business.

[He glances Cumore up and down as he talks, and a smile slowly appears on his face.]

[Honestly there are so many goddamn wallflowers at this party it's a wonder there's even room on the walls at this point? For some reason Ulquiorra remains in the general vicinity of the creeping fig tree, because why not and it doesn't seem the most popular spot for one reason or another.

Also, nerd who doesn't go to parties, meet the loser who normally literally has to be ordered to go to parties and it's honestly debatable whether that's ever happened either, because the only one qualified to give him orders has a rather unique definition of the term, maybe.

That being said, he does level a blank stare at mini Kaiser Dist RX.]

... Am I to take it that strange creature is yours? I had taken it for so much trash in the streets.

[Dist came here to have a decent time and honestly he feels so attacked right now?

[He just sort of. Stares from namesake to orb(??) and back again with possibly some consternation -- why are so many of you like this, or possible this is just the Lady's taste at work and actually that tracks. Ulquiorra just shakes his head after a moment.

This is how you do socializing, clearly. Just insulting each other's interests and adding as much noise as possible to the din by making your conversational partner screech a little.]

I'm merely stating facts. It was rolling about on the ground and getting in the way.

[Also he kicked it, but that's probably implied given his all of him.]

Dist doesn't feel the need to explain himself for his naming conventions. Of course he named it after himself!!

That said, the more he hears about the state his poor robot was in before finding its way to him, the more aggravated he gets.]

I cannot believe this...! At least Rean had the decency to find its rightful owner!!
