WEEK 4
WEEK 4
Last week could probably only be summed up as a mess. Three people died, one was turned to currency and the hotel pool remains in a general state of unusability unless swimming in pulpy mush is someone’s idea of a good time. And that’s not even counting the haunted morse code T-Rex. At least the greenhouse is as relaxing as ever, even if someone seems to have made off with a number of succulents and cacti.
But with the new week comes a new set of locations to explore as the fog retreats to reveal another portion of the city. The half moon wanes to a new moon this week, leaving streets even dimmer this week -- hopefully you have some other portable sources of light available if you plan on straying too far beyond the reach of the lampposts in the new areas.
[[Welcome to Week 4! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 4 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

Ah, I completely forgot to ask you about this! I saw it on your desk, but it simply slipped my mind. This is something you've created, isn't it?
[He's not going to reach out to touch or anything, but it's obvious he's very fascinated by it.]
no subject
Fortunately for you, I have brought it along to remind you.
[Like, that wasn't his specific reason for bringing it along, but he's glad that Iago asked because he's been meaning to show it off.]
Yes, this is mine. It is called the Kaiser Dist RX- one of many models in my Kaiser Dist line. I was actually working on a brand new model before I was brought here, but I suppose a finished model is better to have on hand. [...] Never mind the fact that it is extremely downsized and nonfunctional.
[It's still cute, at least.]
You are welcome to have a closer look at it, if you would like.
[Go ahead and pick it up, Iago!]
no subject
[Time to pick it up!! He definitely had his hands on it earlier, but he didn't really pay too much attention to it. Now that he's studying it, he has a better idea of just what a "robot" really is. A metal, man-made golem certainly isn't far off the mark, as far as he's concerned.]
This is fascinating, Dist. How large is it usually? It is usually capable of combat, correct? How does it fight?
[...he is absolutely going to be bombarding Dist with questions for the next ever, be prepared.]
no subject
About fifteen feet tall. It is large enough to handle large groups of enemies, and its weapons keep them from attempting to do any damage.
[He points at the robot's various appendages.]
Its primary weapons are these drills here. They can also be used as bludgeoning weapons to knock enemies away or smash them into the ground. This arm here has a gripping saw blade, this arm fires explosive rounds form its cylinder...and most deadly of all are these arms that can fire twin lasers!
[Next up, he points at the weird tube things on either side of it.]
These are propulsion devices that allow it to launch itself into the air to cover more ground. When I create a new Kaiser Dist model, I make sure absolutely all of my bases are covered.
[It's extra af.]
no subject
[This is just so cool??? Holy shit, this is the coolest damn thing.]
This is absolutely stunning, Dist. If I had technology like this, Hoshido would have been under Nohr's control long ago. I want to see it once you've completed it.
[Never mind that world-hopping might not be a thing, he's not particularly in the mood to think about that right now.]
no subject
You want to see the latest in-progress model? Why, I would be happy to show it to you... [wait] Are you saying that you would want to come to my world?
[Oof, that's uh...that's something he'll have to prepare for while they're still here. Hopefully Auldrant isn't going to be in shambles by the time this is all over.]
no subject
Maybe I'd like to visit, but it's a bit too soon to start thinking like that. Perhaps we'll discuss it later.
[He glances towards the others purposefully; this isn't really a conversation he's sure he's ready to have to begin with, but it's definitely not one he's having where they could be overheard.]
Perhaps you could sketch out the design for me at some point? It wouldn't be as impressive as seeing you work on it, but I am very curious.
no subject
He drops the subject with about as much grace as he is capable, and moves on.]
That would be acceptable, yes. I'll grab some materials from the art studio tomorrow. [He could use some practice anyway, it's been a while.] I keep hoping that some sort of shop for machinery parts would reveal itself... The machines around only give me so much to work with to keep my mind sharp.
[Let him build a robot in Krakow!!! Not that it would operate, but...]
no subject
[You know. After someone else dies.]
Of course, when you do find something of the sort, let me know. I want to see exactly what you can do with it.
no subject
[Alas...]
But yes, I will certainly bring you along if I do find something that I can work with. It would be better to have hands-on experiences if I am going to teach you about this field anyway.
no subject
[erik how are you still alive after that stunt!!!!]
Agreed, though. I can pick up quite a bit from books and lessons, but that's nothing without the actual experience. I promise I won't let you down when the materials are finally available.
no subject
I know you won't, Iago. I am hardly concerned on that front. Honestly, you ought to give yourself more credit.
[He distinctly recalls a lot more credit being given in the past!! C'mon Iago.]
no subject
Maybe I just wanted to hear you praise me.
[this is it, this is what we're doing in front of everyone, dist deserves better]
no subject
On the one hand, that makes him feel pretty amazing. "I want Dist to praise me" is something no one says in Auldrant. And that's tragic, really. His praise should be an amazing thing to receive!!
But on the other hand, the way Iago said it just makes him sputter in mild embarrassment.]
I-Is that so...?
[He can't even pretend to be smug and self-satisfied about this.]
no subject
[this would have half a chance of being actually touching if he didn't sound so goddamn smug about it...]
no subject
[An attempt...to recover...why is this happening in public.]
I suppose it hadn't occurred to me just how much you do. I am...very flattered.
[Understatement.]
no subject
As you should be. There aren't many people I value this much, you know.
[But fine, fine, he'll let you have your dignity!!]
So what do you think of Dazai's little game?
[OR WE'LL JUST TALK ABOUT HOT OR NOT INSTEAD]
no subject
Charming, but I intend to pass. I don't need others to tell me how attractive I am, and I don't accept criticism.
[This just translates to "I have a very fragile ego".]
no subject
[this is absolutely 100% not because someone's going to comment on the mask.]
It is fun to see their reactions, though.
no subject
[He noticeably didn't really chime in with any comments of his own, though. Most people here don't meet his lofty standards.]
no subject
So who would you say is the hottest person here?
[iago no]
Yourself excluded, of course.
no subject
Actually you know what?
Fuck it. He basically admitted this back at the boutique anyway...]
You.
1 / 2
...Oh.
[GIVE HIM A MOMENT, HANG ON THIS ISN'T GOING AS PLANNED—]
no subject
[THIS IS THE WORST RECOVERY EVER MAYBE IT'D WORK A BIT BETTER IF HE DIDN'T LOOK LIKE HE WAS TRYING NOT TO DIE]
no subject
DON'T INSTILL VENGEANCE UPON DIST]
Oh? It seemed to me like I caught you by surprise.
[He says that like he wants to be extremely smug about Iago's reaction, but internally he can't believe it actually worked.]
