weekend mingle featuring 5 pm brunch because time is meaningless now
[ There probably isn't a single person among them who isn't exhausted after that trial, so it's no surprise that, like last week, there's no party when it's over. Maybe some stay out and mill about the city, while others finally take the chance to get some well-deserved sleep.
Personally, Rideaux is absolutely going to bed now, because it's fucking 10 am or something, and that was a lot.
But when he wakes up again in what is nominally the afternoon, once he's taken a shower and no longer looks like a haggard mess, he's actually going to hole up in the kitchen at the clergy housing and make some pancakes. Just pancakes and nothing else, because this mix is "just add water!" and that'sthe extent of his cooking skills the most effort he's going to put into anything. Some of them may be slightly burned and oddly shaped, but they're free, so shut it.
There's also some coffee and some (cheap, not his good stuff) whiskey, so if you want to make a half-assed Irish coffee, he's not stopping you.
Is this supposed to be a distraction? Is this actually all just to celebrate the fact that Cumore briefly thought he was going to die and that was delicious to watch? Maybe, but no one has to know that. ]

He's here for a complete and balanced breakfast of a cheap irish coffee. Yup. That seems to be all that he's grabbing. He lingers in the Clergy House kitchen long enough to enjoy it or maybe he's waiting for a certain someone to finish their breakfast in the dining area.
Afterwards, he can be found holding a certain black battery and the notes that he grabbed from the clergy house. He's just going to head into the lounge to read through it a couple of times and then look at the box. Hmm. ]
Maybe it's like a car battery.
[ Just murmuring that out loud.
Much later, he's going to be in the auto shop with Rean likely tagging along. Putting the battery and the notes down on the work bench. He's going to roll up his sleeves, before opening each of hood of the car. ]
Maybe she left batteries in here some where?
autoshop;
[ He'll cast a gaze at them, before sitting down on the work bench. Unfortunately, though Rean could say he had many talents, mechanical engineering or anything relating to mechanics was something entirely out of his depth. ]
If you don't find it, then maybe she hid them elsewhere.

[ Before the trial. Before things went to hell. Dazai is also out of his usual area of expertise, but he can puzzle shit out and figure out things works. He does make traps after all, and usually more elaborate than the ones they have had in their room. ]
It looks like something you usually carry car batteries in. Lady has been scavenging what she can from the cars. It may just be that.
[ Time to move on to the next one. Opening it up to look. ]
no subject
Maybe. Though, if she used a car battery as a base, I think it's possible that she modified one so that a regular one wouldn't necessarily be one we're looking for, giving her skillset.
...Still, it'd be nice if she did just leave one in here, or at least something we could use to find out more about this thing. So I don't think it's a waste of time to look.

[ If she used a car battery and a carrying case with some wires... it could be used as a quick power source.
Moving on to the next car and opening the hood. There's a battery! ]
Found one! Now to see if there's something to let us see if it has any charge...
[ He's leaving it in there because he doesn't have gloves. ]
If it's dead, we might be able to use the battery to charge it.
[ Might give them an idea if it's STRONGER or just a normal car battery. ]

Terrible jokes aside, Rean will watch, placing his hands underneath his head as he did. ]
...how would we use the battery to charge it?
[ Rean knew how computers worked/how to use them because thank the goddess for the Orbal Revolution and Erebonia having fine technology, but once again. Mechanical stuff was like No to him. ]
no subject
He'll look over Rean, and the corner of his mouth lifts up for a moment. Then he'll walk over to the work bench to look for a multimeter. ]
There's these clamps attached to a cord. You use it to jump start a car. I haven't ever used one, but I know the gist of it.
[ At least he hopes he does. ]
Would it look cool if I manage to pull this off?
[ It's just charging a car battery... but for a moment, he wanted to lighten the mood. ]
no subject
He's watching as the other looked over and then came right by the work bench. ]
That sounds like it could be difficult. Though, maybe not if all you need to do is just plug it in...or something?
[ Just yolo a car. He wondered vaguely if Rideaux had knowledge about cars... ]
Hmm. Maybe you'd look just plain silly, knowing you.
[ Yeah he'll go along with the lighting the mood and so he teased a bit. They REALLY need easy jokes and teasing right now. ]
no subject
[ There's the multimeter! ]
Hey, I can look pretty cool when I want to.
[ There's a lack of any seriousness in his tone. ]
Is there anything you think we should attach the battery to? [ Tapping the original black box from the clock. ]
no subject
Whatever you say.
[ ...He'll shake his head, looking sheepish. ]
I don't really have an idea, but that's because nothing immediately comes to mind.
no subject
[ Wiggling his fingers in Rean's direction. ]
We can always ask the others next meeting.
[ He really just wants to finish it because it's odd... leaving it unfinished. ]
dazai in the lounge with the car battery
When he finds him, he gestures to a seat. ]
Mind if I join you?
no subject
I figured it would be you or Seteth.
[ Checking up on him. Giving a nod. ]
Go ahead and sit down. I'm just killing time for a bit.
no subject
[ He chuckles briefly before taking a seat next to him. ]
Asking how you're doing seems a bit unnecessary, but I'll ask it anyway--and if you'd rather have a distraction more than anything.
no subject
[ Placing his elbow on his knee as he plants his chin in his hand. Let's skip over the first question... ]
A distraction is always welcomed. You can talk about yourself if you want. About what it means to be a Paladin of Voltron.
no subject
[ Yeah, he guessed as much. He's worried--of course he is--but he also really doesn't want to push Dazai. Especially not so soon. ]
Talking about myself... You've asked a pretty tall order. [ But it's good-natured. ] The easiest way to explain it is that we defend the universe. Or, more accurately--all universes.
[ ... or, he did, before things went bad. But he won't get into that. ]
no subject
[ Have you seen how short Erik is. ]
You and your team?
[ It's easier to talk about other things for him anyways. There's too much darkness inside of him to even remotely start to trudge any of that up. ]
no subject
[ Lightly teasing. Shiro nods, though. ]
Yeah. Keith, Allura, Pidge, Hunk, and Lance. Most of us are from Earth, but Allura... she's an alien princess.
If it weren't for her, we'd never have formed Voltron in the first place.
no subject
[ Teasing in turn. ]
Does she look anything like aliens from movies or video games?
[ Green with antennas or anything? ]
no subject
[ He shakes his head, though. ]
Not at all. Alteans look just like humans--aside from the marks on their cheeks [ he gestures just below his eyes ] and their pointed ears.
There are plenty of non-humanoid aliens, though.
no subject
Wow maybe he shares Lady's taste in men. ]
What's the strangest you've seen?
no subject
Probably the Taujeerians--they sort of resemble large grubs. They have no faces, but they do have a large... [ hmm. ] Opening? Eye? That flashes when they speak.
If I had a bit of paper I could draw one of them and show it to you for a better visual.
no subject
[ As much as he doesn't care about if it would be right to sacrifice some of Dist's notes for the alien drawing cause, he does have plans on handing them over to Iago eventually.
Picking up notebook and black box up before giving a nod. ]
Follow me.
no subject
[ He stands, too; even if Dazai had brought it up he wouldn't have done it. And maybe he can grab the thing Ango had told him about, too. ]
Lead the way.
no subject
Just going to lead the way to his room. He left the door unlocked since he's sure no one would mess with it while they were down the hall. ]
Here it is.
[ It's missing one desk and there's twelve mattresses in here. It's four of them across the floor with two more stacked on each.
Dazai is placing the box down on a chair in the corner next to the door... which has a dragon mascot sitting next to it.]
