WEEK 4
WEEK 4
Last week could probably only be summed up as a mess. Three people died, one was turned to currency and the hotel pool remains in a general state of unusability unless swimming in pulpy mush is someone’s idea of a good time. And that’s not even counting the haunted morse code T-Rex. At least the greenhouse is as relaxing as ever, even if someone seems to have made off with a number of succulents and cacti.
But with the new week comes a new set of locations to explore as the fog retreats to reveal another portion of the city. The half moon wanes to a new moon this week, leaving streets even dimmer this week -- hopefully you have some other portable sources of light available if you plan on straying too far beyond the reach of the lampposts in the new areas.
[[Welcome to Week 4! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 4 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

Maybe he shouldn't be nosy, he doesn't like people being nosy about him.
...
but he's gonna be nosy.]
Good... evening, I suppose. I see you are working on something, then?
no subject
I am, yes.
[...there are so many colored pens here... Iago at least has the decency to stop what he's working on and look up when Seteth addresses him.]
It's nothing particularly important. Is there something you need?
no subject
[...]
...they really do have so many different colors of ink here, don't they...
no subject
They do. I've been fascinated with them since I first saw them. Pens are interesting enough on their own, but being able to write in color certainly makes taking notes more interesting.
[this isn't even being a nerd, this is being a child]
no subject
[look, we are all like children seeing these wonders of modernity for the first time, it's fine]
no subject
[Well, sort of. Iago gestures to the bench, come sit and look at his not-so-great art!!]
no subject
[Seteth will go ahead and look at Iago's little art project, then!]
no subject
I don't mind it. It's not as though any of them are particularly useful here anyway.
[The detail on the magic designs is pretty damn intricate, but obviously even a perfect one wouldn't work without the rest of the tome, so...]
no subject
[...look, not every dark mage is a horrible person, even if one very specific person is, but then he's been dealing with a lot of horrible weirdos so like.
you know.]
Well, it is good to keep in practice, is it not, in the event that you find a proper medium for the spells? I have been trying to do that myself.
no subject
You're keeping your skills sharp with your weapons training, correct?
no subject
[Macuil was always the magic nerd...]
Yes, I have, though I've only been able to work with lances for now. I'm hoping I can get an axe and a sword sooner or later for that end of things...

[maybe if antumbra took place in the rural US they’d be having a very different conversation...]
no subject
That's precisely what's confusing me. It seems as though there isn't as large an emphasis on weapons as there is in Nohr, but that's based entirely on what books I've read about this city. It's possible that with the increased technology they've found some way to create some other sort of weapons, but even then I'd expect to find somewhere that sells those.
[????????? this is so confusing. where are y'all hiding your blacksmiths.]
no subject
You are definitely right. Perhaps we simply have not found what weapons they do use yet? That, or everyone is trained in hand to hand combat as a matter of course...
no subject
I suppose that's possible, but it would make more sense that there are weapons available as well. We'll have to keep an eye out.

[Well, aside from INVESTIGATING, but most of that is stuff we still don't know what to do with, so.]

[But that doesn't stop it from being frustrating as hell right now.]

[He lowers his voice as another thought strikes him.]
There are also, well, the dead, if they manage to contact us again.
