WEEK 3

WEEK 3

Another week, another set of bodies to add to the pile. Two lured in by The Lady's machinations, and another two done in by misfortune; six of your number are dead already. Who knows who it will be the next time? And for what reason? Nevertheless, there’s no choice but to keep pushing on in your own way; whether that means barricading yourself inside your room for the rest of your stay, leaving artwork of your fellow Survivors around the housing area, or eating all the raw meat in the vicinity… well, everyone deals with things differently.

Either way, you understand the drill by now, yes? Another portion of the city reveals itself as the fog retreats yet again, lampposts lighting the way to the new areas as usual. The full moon wanes to half this week too, so make the most of it.

[[Welcome to Week 3! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 3 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]
ortion: (❀ so not fabulous)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-24 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[I sure am now and I'm loving it, thanks.]

Oh? Was it a schooling requirement where you grew up?
drydrown: those shoes with that dress though (EHHH ♡ now wait just a minute)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-24 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's more of a social obligation than anything. Nobility tends to be somewhat like that, where I'm from.
ortion: (❀ contemplating)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-24 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I see.

[It's not an "I see" out of experience, that's for sure. Dist didn't grow up poor or anything, but only one of his friends was an actual noble.]

I was typically caught up in my studies at that age. I'm afraid I did not have much time for learning to play an instrument.
drydrown: the magna carta's a nice suggestion (HAUGHTY ♡ judging like john marshall)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-24 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
I had a fair amount of time on my hands, personally. My family has been nobility for quite some time; I wouldn't have to work at all, if I felt inclined not to.

[And yet he joined the Knights anyway.]
ortion: (❀ gorgeous)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-24 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
[That's such an interesting position to consider...]

And what do you suppose you would be doing if you did not decide to join the military?
drydrown: we have no use for you here (TCH ♡ looks like you've been busy)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-24 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
...I'm actually not sure. This has always been what I wanted; I suppose I could have gone to work for the Council - that would be our other governing body, alongside the Knights - but they're all about eighty years old and I've never been terribly impressed with how they do things besides.
ortion: (❀ flippant)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-24 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that sounds terrible. I can imagine the arguments about "young upstarts" that you would have to put up with on the regular.

[He can bet nothing ever gets accomplished.]

But it sounds like you would have always wanted to work regardless.
drydrown: congratulations! (BOW ♡ it's fucking nothing!)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-24 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. I like to earn what I get; there's no shame in not wanting that, I suppose, but personally I can't stand feeling stagnant. My aspirations are important to me, and there's no point in having them if you're unwilling to work for them.
ortion: (❀ beginning of the end)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-24 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, indeed, and I couldn't agree more. That is why this situation is incredibly frustrating to me. Not only are our aspirations being forcibly put on hold, but the Lady seems to love attempting to meddle with them at every opportunity!
drydrown: we have no use for you here (TCH ♡ looks like you've been busy)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-24 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
That's one way of putting it.

[He can think of a few others.]
ortion: (❀ my life is so tragic)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-24 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Well now he's curious!]

And how else would you put it?
drydrown: the magna carta's a nice suggestion (HAUGHTY ♡ judging like john marshall)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-25 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd say attempting to murder us all is a bit stronger than "meddling," for one thing.
ortion: (❀ ...unsure)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-26 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

Ah. Fair point. I suppose...that bit has been further in the back of my mind for the time being.
drydrown: those plates are totally relevant and useful (CAST ♡ mimura said what now)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-26 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
...I've been having more difficulties than I'd like with it, to be entirely honest.
ortion: (❀ thoughtful)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-26 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh.

Dist is quiet for a moment, then starts putting together a second drink.]

Why is that? Because we are still here...?

[It has been weeks...]
drydrown: we have no use for you here (TCH ♡ looks like you've been busy)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-26 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that.

[...Mm. Just...give him a moment to try to shake it off, he's fine.]

It's likely just impatience with the situation. I don't know.
ortion: (❀ just no)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-26 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
[The second drink that Dist produces is offered to Cumore.]

It is nonalcoholic.

[But definitely tasty! At least, in Dist's opinion. It's very sweet.

Whether Cumore accepts or not, Dist settles back to a seat near the piano.]

I can certainly understand. The trials have not helped matters- they are exhausting, and make focusing on our escape more difficult. We can only hope to have a breakthrough soon...
drydrown: we have no use for you here (TCH ♡ looks like you've been busy)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-26 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
We don't have much choice, do we?

[It's not sharp, exactly, but it's abrupt; he'll take the drink, though, he doesn't do booze but he does like sweet things, so...]

The idea of dying here doesn't exactly appeal to me.
ortion: (❀ my life is so tragic)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-26 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Dist can't really blame Cumore for being abrupt there. He's frustrated, too.]

I would certainly hope so. The moment you start resigning to it is the moment I know things have truly gone to the dogs.

[He stirs his drink before taking another sip.]

I plan to look into the sudden appearance of power to the museum and restaurant. There must be something there...
drydrown: those plates are totally relevant and useful (CAST ♡ mimura said what now)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I'd say I'm resigned to it. It's just...

[Mnnnngh. Anyway.]

I do hope you find something, either way. Whether it's answers or just a way to get the rest of the city functioning properly.
ortion: (❀ thoughtful)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-26 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Dist nods. It's a difficult subject, that's for sure.]

I don't intend to stop. Giving up is simply not something I am capable of. If I must work the Lady to get us answers...I suppose I will.

[Like, not literally work with her, but at least try to curry more favor with her. He doesn't like the idea, but he knows she likes him. He has an opportunity that many don't in that regard.]
drydrown: the magna carta's a nice suggestion (HAUGHTY ♡ judging like john marshall)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-26 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Do as you see fit. Just don't be reckless.
ortion: (❀ beginning of the end)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-26 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. Do you know me to be reckless?

[Dist...you don't want to know the answer to that...]
drydrown: we have no use for you here (TCH ♡ looks like you've been busy)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-26 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
[...are you kidding- ]

I know you to be a bit on the emotional side, and reason doesn't exactly always prevail. But that takes far longer to say, and is more difficult to put into a sentence with any elegance.

[cumore.]

It's something we have in common, I suppose.
ortion: (❀ ...unsure)
