WEEK 3

WEEK 3

Another week, another set of bodies to add to the pile. Two lured in by The Lady's machinations, and another two done in by misfortune; six of your number are dead already. Who knows who it will be the next time? And for what reason? Nevertheless, there’s no choice but to keep pushing on in your own way; whether that means barricading yourself inside your room for the rest of your stay, leaving artwork of your fellow Survivors around the housing area, or eating all the raw meat in the vicinity… well, everyone deals with things differently.

Either way, you understand the drill by now, yes? Another portion of the city reveals itself as the fog retreats yet again, lampposts lighting the way to the new areas as usual. The full moon wanes to half this week too, so make the most of it.

[[Welcome to Week 3! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 3 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

[ Shaking his head. He has no idea what all that was about but other people are drilling Dazai so, onwards! ]

With all of... that out of the way, I guess it's time to get back on topic. I wish I could say I learned something substantial, but I've only got one thing to share this time around.

Somehow, Rembrandt can see our memories. I'm not sure how it all works, and who knows if it was all just a trick, but he asked me about my past. When I wouldn't tell him, he decided to learn more about it on his own.

What a disgusting invasion of privacy... I can't bring myself to be surprised anymore, but I'm still irritated.

How did he do it?

[personal profile] bawcock 2020-01-22 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, but the only thing I saw was flickering lights. After that, he told me a couple of things about myself, things he didn't seem to know before.

[ So maybe legit?? Shrug?? ] I did ask if he had something back there he reading off of—which made him open up his side of the confessional. There wasn't anything there that I could see, but it isn't like I searched the place.

They probably have our powers to use at their whim. Reading someone's past like that is something I can do with my original powers.

[personal profile] moonfang 2020-01-22 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
... Well that's just great. So he's got an atomic goddamn bomb and no idea how to control it.
notbymyside: (10)

[personal profile] notbymyside 2020-01-22 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It might be that they're not fully able to use any one power. It took me years of practice to learn to use my ability at will. There was a solid two years there during my time in high school where I refused to touch anyone because I kept accidentally seeing their pasts.
moonfang: (reflected)

[personal profile] moonfang 2020-01-22 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not the problem, here... even if he only has access to a fraction of my, or Ulquiorra's for that matter, power... let's just say the two of us could turn this city into a parking lot without so much as breaking a sweat. It's not a brag... I'm really genuinely worried. My power can kill people pretty easily if it's not controlled. When I compared it to a bomb, I wasn't exaggerating.

....actually, can your power turn people into blue-eyed ghosts? Because that might be what was used on the people here.
moonfang: (hmph)

[personal profile] moonfang 2020-01-22 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It can turn people into ghosts, and weak ghosts into mush. But no, I can't make mutants. Speakin' a which...

[He has some other stuff to talk about]

I'd been assuming that might be the case. Thank you for confirming that. He seemed very interested in my magic as well.

[..........considering what he can do in canon, here's hoping rembrandt can't use his magic, um.]

[personal profile] notbymyside 2020-01-22 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't confirm it, but given what he has done so far that seems like the most likely outcome. If it's true, then it might be useful for bridging the gap between him and us.
psychophant: (✦ 92)

[personal profile] psychophant 2020-01-22 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be good to see if we can at least determine the extent of his powers, but I highly doubt he'll part with that information.
notbymyside: (20)

[personal profile] notbymyside 2020-01-22 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
If we offer to help him learn to use our powers, then he might become friendly to us.
psychophant: (✦ 43)

[personal profile] psychophant 2020-01-22 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
...That is possibly the worst idea I've ever heard.

Man, so that's how he did it!

[ That dirty cheat! But it isn't like getting mad now will help anything. Best to focus on what they can do now rather than how much Rembrandt sucks. ]

At least that's one mystery solved. Thanks for speaking up.
notbymyside: (10)

[personal profile] notbymyside 2020-01-22 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a potential mystery solved. He could have more bullshit powers up his sleeve that we don't know about.
bawcock: (♪ i wish i didn't do)

[personal profile] bawcock 2020-01-23 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I should've said, "as good as solved." All we need to do now is ask him about it.

[ No part of this plan is bad. Except for the parts that are. ]

Well, okay. More the first part than the second. I doubt he'll be as forthcoming about anything else.

[ That's interesting ]

If that's true, then we won't be able to touch them with any other powers.

That's true too. Though it makes me wonder how he could use your power AND any other power at the same time.

pr159: (i don't have time to regret)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-22 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The idea that he has that ability because he took it from you, and probably has all of ours.

[ Also that just seems like kind of a weird power if it's not just part of a larger omniscience, but. Beside the point. ]

I'm not saying I don't think it's possible, but that wasn't exactly something I'd considered strongly before.

[ So, you know, if either you or Dazai did exist in some kind of fractured dimension... He doesn't think there would be any divergence catalysts for a Chromatus power to destroy in whatever universe they're from anyway, but who the fuck knows, really. ]

It's only a possibility, not hard facts. But I felt it pertinent to warn you, just in case it ends up being true. There's a reason I'm an expert in espionage despite my young age.

I’m somewhat surprised they have to bother going through our memories now in the first place, given how much information they have on us to begin with. It definitely wouldn’t have been easy to find some of the specific information on mine without digging through my memories.
