Five weeks. It's been five weeks, and twenty-seven has now dwindled down to eleven. And while only two passed this week, this trial may have been the most devastating in its own way, as threads of patience frayed and fragments of trust fractured. Nevertheless, if The Lady is to be believed, that may very well have been the final set of sacrifices that she was waiting for, so perhaps the end is in sight.

Of course, the fact that everyone is still stuck in Krakow means that it's not over yet, and who even knows what's happening over in the Twilight?

And so, some more changes are in store for this week, even if it may not be the same ones that you've gotten used to. For one thing, the fog stays put and no new areas of the city are revealed under the light of the lampposts. Secondly, The Lady is nowhere to be found in the city, with her bookstore office vacated and abandoned with nary a trace as to where she went. And third, the clock tower will no longer operate, which-- well. Actually that's not new at all, but it certainly may make it difficult to keep up with the facade of passing days. At least the moon still serves as a reminder of that, gibbous phase waxing into something fuller over the course of the week even if the color looks a bit off.

It may not be a fresh new start, but it's not time to give up yet, is it? After all, you are all Survivors.

So, how have the last minute investigations been coming along?

[you mean some people don't run on spite alone???]

Cumore mentioned those to me, though I'm fairly sure everyone else has them covered. I examined the Lady's office, but she's left nothing behind since she cleared out. I've been unable to determine her exact location as well.

[Presumably the castle, but there isn't any way to check that right now.]

I spent most of my time yesterday examining that sludge Ulquiorra left us. Tell him that I said "thanks, but never do that again".

[IT'S SO GROSS.......]

We'll be meeting up tomorrow to discuss everything we've found, so you all will want to listen in then.

Hm. With everything I saw in there before, I'm surprised she could clean it out so quickly.

[ He sounds like he's kicking himself for not looking through her stuff when he was alive. ]

Erm... I'm sure he'll get the message. Anything in particular about the sludge we should know about? [ Ulquiorra what did you do ]

I'm sure someone will try to make it if Twilight's still standing. I don't know how much longer we'll be here, but things are getting worse on this end...

I doubt it's important on your end, but he apparently melted down currency and left that for us. Not that I'm complaining; it may give us a few more weapons.

... Well. How do I put this? The reason we found out about the lamps was because we decided to try and save ourselves. It turns out what's inside the lamps- Something like souls, but Ulquiorra claims it's more like "spiritual energy"- We might have had to feed off those to stabilize ourselves...

Do you wonder why we still exist in the first place, despite the fact we're dead?

I've been very curious about that, yes. At this point, I don't have a guess as to why that is, though perhaps with more information I could attempt to work it out. Did you all find an answer on that side?

[The rest of that is... worrying, but he figures Shin will explain what he can. There's no sense in hiding any information at this point, anyway.]

This might sound a bit strange to you, but according our ally in the Twilight, we barely survived in what she called a "double zero state". In short, part of our souls were missing, and it was a lot worse for those who had died after being attacked by the manifestations again. Before we found an answer, our broken souls were too unstable to survive escaping the Twilight.

[ Remember what happened to him and Pizza? ]

I'm not sure how, but whatever's in the lanterns managed to patch us up enough to survive escaping to the Day... Though exactly how isn't as clear to me personally.

... You lot should be careful as well. Especially the ones who took that hint. We've been warning you about what happens when she feeds you to those things again.

[Ah, so that's what Hyoubu meant... Well damn, at least you guys saved Pizza.]

I understand. Do you know anything about what is in the lanterns and if that will be of any use to those of us on this side? We do still have several who took the hints over here.

Not that I know of... But I'm sure they play a huge part in something, given that she installed more of them around the city.

Did she? Do you know which ones she put in later? Where did you get this information?

We saw a picture of the day in a magazine on our side. She must have replaced all of them, since I highly doubt the architects in this world would think of lighting a city with soul energy.

That does seem highly unlikely, yes. That's fascinating, though... What exactly did you all do to them?

I'm not sure exactly? I think we just... Sucked the energy out of the bulb? Somehow? It's incredibly hard for me to explain.

Did you just need to touch the bulb or was there more to it? I want to relay this information to the others to see if we can test it on those who took the hints.

Touching the bulb was involved... But if you really want to know, I can just tell you from experience.

After all, she was wrong about one thing. I do know what happened after she threw me to those things.

I would like to hear it. What happened?

For one, I nearly got obliterated when I woke up here. Apparently our ally thought I was going to become just like the blue eyed "manifestations," but no. I only lost half of my soul from everything and only a pair of fins on my arms to show.

But that wasn't the worst part. Not at all. Other than the horrible realization of how broken and inhuman I've become, I've been plagued by this insatiable hunger ever since! That empty pit inside me just kept demanding more and more, and since food wasn't enough I'd had to turn to constantly eating live plants just so I could think straight...

[ He sounds like he's regretting his actions at the trial. ]

It's horrible... And it seems the only thing that fully sates the hunger was whatever was in the lampposts... Or at least, that's what I can gather from those savage instincts forcing me to swallow the contents of the bulb whole... It was a lot like inhaling a thick cloud of vapor, so thick I could scoop it up with my hands... I've never felt any sensation like that in my life...

I imagine the others are experiencing something similar, although I don't believe their hunger is quite that bad. [please let shiro eat a plant, that's hilarious] The effects may be slightly lessened on this side.

I'll let them know about the lamp posts. It may prove beneficial to try it on this side as well.

... This is more of my personal opinion, but if that Lady really didn't think the transformation affected my soul, there's still more to this world than she realizes.

Oh, there certainly is. Dist and I theorized quite a bit about that. [You know. Before he died.] I'm certainly looking forward to hearing what the others have uncovered. We should be able to figure out how to proceed from here.
