WEEK 3

WEEK 3

Another week, another set of bodies to add to the pile. Two lured in by The Lady's machinations, and another two done in by misfortune; six of your number are dead already. Who knows who it will be the next time? And for what reason? Nevertheless, there’s no choice but to keep pushing on in your own way; whether that means barricading yourself inside your room for the rest of your stay, leaving artwork of your fellow Survivors around the housing area, or eating all the raw meat in the vicinity… well, everyone deals with things differently.

Either way, you understand the drill by now, yes? Another portion of the city reveals itself as the fog retreats yet again, lampposts lighting the way to the new areas as usual. The full moon wanes to half this week too, so make the most of it.

[[Welcome to Week 3! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 3 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

[ Rean would just smile sheepishly at the question, but he's glad to see that Rideaux would go ahead to go about answering it.

He's attentive as he usually was when someone spoke, and then took a sip of his own drink again around the time the other began pouring his brandy. ]

...It does sound nice to have been able to be around in a place that was likely a bit nostalgic.

[ Rean could only think there were at least some fond memories to be had. How could there not have been? He wondered vaguely on what type of people must've looked down on the other. Rideaux certainly didn't seem like a saint, but Rean didn't exactly think it was nice for people to do the same to others. ]

And I suppose it's good to have a reminder of your starting point to how far you've gotten, despite the difficulties.

[ His eyes narrow slightly as he puts the bottle away. ]

I don't need the reminder. And nostalgia has very little to do with it.

[ That implies more good memories than he actually has. And even the ones he does have -- like the drunken nights out he used to spend with Julius before he decided to reinvent himself as an upstanding family man -- usually just make him angry when he thinks about them now. ]

...Sorry for assuming as much then.

[ Rean had no idea the story of the man and his circumstances that could've surrounded the subject, but he figured an apology might be necessary. ]

What are you apologizing for?

...?

[ ... ]

...Oh, because it seemed like I may have overstepped by saying that. I don't really know your experiences, after all.
pr159: (please just go)

[ ...He takes a sip from his glass and sighs. It's not like this had ever been much of a secret back home anyway; it's always been part of his lore, so to speak, and something that contributed to how well-respected he was, whether people actually liked him or not. ]

Well, if you want to know, I lived on the street for several years, until I got hired as a Spirius agent when I was twelve. That bar was a good place to find the kinds of jobs that didn't get advertised on the job boards, and it was somewhere to go on cold nights where you didn't have to worry about being kicked out for being too dirty or not having enough money.

[ He had...actually been curious. So he was glad Rideaux had volunteered that information of his free will, because Rean didn't want to seem rude just prying. ]

...I see. It sounds like it was difficult experience, so I appreciate you being able to tell me this, at least.
pr159: (but things don't work that way)

It's not like it's a secret.

[ shrug. ]

Anyway, much like how walking barefoot over jagged rocks for long enough will toughen your soles, I like to think I'm pretty difficult to break at this point, so. There is that.

[ So you probably don't want to target him. Just saying. ]
