WEEK 3

WEEK 3

Another week, another set of bodies to add to the pile. Two lured in by The Lady's machinations, and another two done in by misfortune; six of your number are dead already. Who knows who it will be the next time? And for what reason? Nevertheless, there’s no choice but to keep pushing on in your own way; whether that means barricading yourself inside your room for the rest of your stay, leaving artwork of your fellow Survivors around the housing area, or eating all the raw meat in the vicinity… well, everyone deals with things differently.

Either way, you understand the drill by now, yes? Another portion of the city reveals itself as the fog retreats yet again, lampposts lighting the way to the new areas as usual. The full moon wanes to half this week too, so make the most of it.

[[Welcome to Week 3! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 3 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

[ Really, Rideaux needs to bring Alfyn here with him at some point so he can get a proper briefing on the potential uses for all of these plants he doesn't recognize. But he's still wandering through to see what he can figure out on his own, anyway. Maybe if he grabs a few leaves to compare to some of the books in the library...

He's not particularly interested in the pond, but catching Seteth staring into it makes him wonder if there's something going on, so he'll come take a look. (Anyway, he ought to follow up on his... changes by now.) ]

Something in there?
baitless: bringing a hand up to his face thoughtfully. (chai... just means tea...)

Hmm... not that I can see, no.

[It takes a few moments for him to answer, because he's just... looking. Maybe there is something? But maybe not.]

I simply find it soothing to look at water like this, though I generally prefer to do it when I'm fishing. Of course, I do not have a rod here, so I'll have to just settle for admiring the lily pads.
pr159: (then let's hear you say it)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-23 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

[ He doesn't, really. ]

I wouldn't have considered fishing a relaxing pastime, but I suppose it would depend on the situation.
baitless: a peacefully happy expression, i think. (thinkin' about fishing.)

[personal profile] baitless 2020-01-24 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'd imagine it can be frustrating if you're trying to catch things and nothing's biting, but I never really mind if I catch anything or not. It's really just a bonus if I do.

Then again, I have a lot of good memories associated with it, so that likely influences things. My wife was always much better at fishing than I, so I was just happy to spend time with her.
pr159: (we might get along better now)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-24 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
My hometown used to be something of a commercial fishing hub, back before the harbor dried up. Not caring whether or not you catch anything seems like a pretty foreign concept.

[ And the former fisherman were always in a lousy mood because of it.

He kind of glances over at the part about Seteth's wife, noting the use of past tense. He's mildly curious, if nothing else. ]

Was she the same sort of... being as you?
baitless: he looks a bit tired, but less intensely so. (how vaguely and unhelpfully can i put it)

[personal profile] baitless 2020-01-24 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... yes, I have known people like that. It has always been more of a hobby for me, but I do like to keep different perspectives in mind. You always learn something interesting if you do that.

[...it's still kind of hard to talk about what he actually is with basically strangers, but...]

...honestly, it would have been deeply awkward to try and marry any of my own kind, since in a manner of speaking, we are all family.

[He shakes his head.]

No, she was a human.
pr159: (there's much i don't want to remember)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-24 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ Well, he's not wrong; Rideaux's learning something kind of interesting right here. ]

With a typical human lifespan?

[ Were there others, or was he only getting laid for like, 50 out of his 2000 years... ]
baitless: an expression that can serve as either deep frustration or, perhaps, some level of grief. who can say. (i am so tired all of the time.)

[personal profile] baitless 2020-01-25 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I was able to extend her lifespan after we discussed it. I would not have if she did not agree to it, of course, but we were able to spend a few centuries together.

...I am not entirely certain how much time we would have had together had things simply been allowed to run their course, but she... she died in battle.

[and he's still so fucked up about it!! he's so fucked up about it.]
pr159: (let mine not be counted among them)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-25 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I see... That's certainly a shame.

[ and pretty ironic... like getting hit by a car a year after finding the fountain of youth. ]

I'm impressed that that's something you could do, though. [ AND INTRIGUED... ] I assume that's one of the abilities they took away when you came here.

[personal profile] baitless 2020-01-25 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
...yes, it was.

[SNIFF......]

Honestly, I don't know much of an ability to do something like that I would have even without them trying to alter my abilities. I'm considerably less powerful than I used to be, and there are certain things I cannot do at all anymore.
