The first week is over, and two of your number are gone. Everything related to the case has been cleaned up, with nary a knife left at the Main Square nor a trace of the mud shapes that once painted the clock tower walls, although some stray graffiti still dots some storefronts.

However you may feel about the entire debacle on Friday, there’s no doubt that something has changed about the atmosphere, although whether it’s something tangible or just a trick of the mind is hard to say. Maybe it’s nothing. Either way, there are more palpable changes to the city, with some of the fog retreating away from a few of the surrounding areas, uncovering new buildings and streets along the way. The night, however, remains unchanged as always save for the slow waxing of the moon, leaving it bright and full as early as Thursday night. Regardless of if you take it as an omen or not, at least that means the streets will be lit up fairly well for the week, provided some inconvenient cloud cover doesn’t slide right in.

[Dist seems to clamp up for a moment. A little bit of envy is evident on his face before he collects himself.]

I see. [Where does he even go from here without sounding bitter?] Did that involve seeing the battlefield for yourself?

[ He caught that but he couldn't have been sure of the reason why. ]

That's right. There was a time where I was actually a Provisional Military Officer. Though, even before that, there was this civil war that became difficult not to get caught up in.

[ He didn't look too excited talking about this portion, if only because not everything went well. Because you know, wars. ]

[Wars are never very exciting to talk about, and unfortunately he had to discuss them quite a lot with a war-crazy colleague. He gets it.

Still though, yikes. Seems like child soldiers are present everywhere.]

I imagine it was valuable experience to pass on to your students, at the very least. Experience is important for an educational position.

...That's right, it was. At times it was rather difficult, seeing as I had just been a student not too long before I accepted the position at the Branch School, but I believe my own experience was invaluable in making it work somehow.

[ Among other things, like having helpful staff and friends around, but yeah. ]

I cannot say I envy the position, but it seems like a respectable one nevertheless.

[Even a prideful person like Dist can admit that much.]

A truly good instructor can leave a lasting impact on their students.
