WEEK 2

WEEK 2

The first week is over, and two of your number are gone. Everything related to the case has been cleaned up, with nary a knife left at the Main Square nor a trace of the mud shapes that once painted the clock tower walls, although some stray graffiti still dots some storefronts.

However you may feel about the entire debacle on Friday, there’s no doubt that something has changed about the atmosphere, although whether it’s something tangible or just a trick of the mind is hard to say. Maybe it’s nothing. Either way, there are more palpable changes to the city, with some of the fog retreating away from a few of the surrounding areas, uncovering new buildings and streets along the way. The night, however, remains unchanged as always save for the slow waxing of the moon, leaving it bright and full as early as Thursday night. Regardless of if you take it as an omen or not, at least that means the streets will be lit up fairly well for the week, provided some inconvenient cloud cover doesn’t slide right in.

[[Welcome to Week 2! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 2 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

[Well then. He really wasn't looking for anything like that, but of course the bowels of the opera would be full of weird things like this. It kind of reminds him of some of the lesser Fracciones back home?? He'll stare at the deer head for a moment before hefting and shifting it a little.

How much heavier is it?? Does it shake, rattle or roll? Or does he need to stare into its eyesockets lovingly to commune with it.]

[Well, skulls do tend to have small parts that come loose, particularly when there's a fool or five (present company excepted) rooting and looting (and quite possibly tooting) their way through the premises. So it's not all that surprising to find something, but that it's that much heavier...

Strange. He'll set it down and move his candle closer to see if the light can catch anything. A preview before he tries reaching for it. Could always be some kind of mini-supernatural rodent waiting to bite his unfortunately human-adjacent fingers off. It's not unheard of, after all.]

[That's a whole hell of a lot of keys to just jam randomly into a backstage prop?? Is that all there is in there or is this like. Some sort of Holy Grail of props with a small but accurate portrait of the opera's foremost patron lovingly decorating its forehead??

If there's nothing else to find in the deer head he'll just examine the keys he found. How many are there, what do they look like, and if there's any indication as to where they go. There are still plenty of locked doors in this city...]

[Once again: that is so many goddamn keys. Some kind of jackpot was had here and anyone else would be more keyed up; Ulquiorra's expression barely twitches. He does finish closely examining the keyring and then slip the whole thing into his pocket, along with the pocket Aizen and whatever else he's managed to squirrel away from the rest of backstage. Hmmm.

There's still a few prominent doors that come to mind right away. He might as well take a stroll; that's all he's been doing lately. To the opera's restaurant kitchen we go -- it's more or less useless to him, but he'll have a go at matching up a key.

Anything?]

[What is this, Blue's Clues??

Fine, he'll start by trying the brightly colored ones. Green, then red and yellow if that one doesn't go. Black and blue can be saved for last since that's what the door would look like if he had his powers and didn't have to worry about actual locks. SMH.]

[... Locks it back up and throws away the key because he really doesn't care about feeding these peasants--

OK no, he's not going to bother either way, it doesn't matter that much. And he'll take a moment to look around the kitchen, too -- presumably it's more well-stocked than the other kitchens and possibly has more knives?? Are there bodies in the fridge or anything fresh or like. Signs of recent use. Blue's Clues all the way to town, bitch.]

[He looks over the food with a completely neutral expression because he's literally just a statue I guess; but taking stock of the kitchen itself is useful. Even if he has no use for this stuff, there are people -- and possibly things -- in this city that do. Hmm.

Important other question, there are totally more knives here, right.

And since it happened in the other kitchens, is there any sort of writing or menus or orders or whatever in evidence here, or is it just a very empty kitchen with some signs of wear and tear?]

[You know what, don't mind if he just goes ahead and borrows one of these higher-quality knives. It's no sword and not much of a weapon, but given all the incidences and happenings in the city recently (and how messy everything is, on the whole), it'll at least be a useful tool.

First come first serve, after all. Speaking of which, who stole the wine, y'all. Is the Lady just literally drinking her way through the city here. Oi.

For the most part, cookbooks and alcohol are both equally useless to him at the moment, but he takes a moment to look into it, anyway. The uniqueness of the book is noted; it's flipped through for anything else that might catch the eye, but otherwise he'll just take it with him for later perusal. Given he really, really doesn't need a cookbook, it might be returned, but later.]
