The first week is over, and two of your number are gone. Everything related to the case has been cleaned up, with nary a knife left at the Main Square nor a trace of the mud shapes that once painted the clock tower walls, although some stray graffiti still dots some storefronts.

However you may feel about the entire debacle on Friday, there’s no doubt that something has changed about the atmosphere, although whether it’s something tangible or just a trick of the mind is hard to say. Maybe it’s nothing. Either way, there are more palpable changes to the city, with some of the fog retreating away from a few of the surrounding areas, uncovering new buildings and streets along the way. The night, however, remains unchanged as always save for the slow waxing of the moon, leaving it bright and full as early as Thursday night. Regardless of if you take it as an omen or not, at least that means the streets will be lit up fairly well for the week, provided some inconvenient cloud cover doesn’t slide right in.

[oh hai little guy. Zangetsu closes the chute and puts his hand in one of the buckets. He forms a baseball-sized ball of solid ice in his hand. Except the ball is also covered in spikes.

He opens the chute back up. It's hard with the limited space, but he chucks the ice ball as hard as he can at the critter]

[Unlike with Erik, this time the creature is alert to attacks. These people trying to invate the mail chute...of course this was going to happen! The creature retreats deep into the chute, barely missing the ice ball, ascending towards the higher end of the chute. The spikes on the ball may have actually touched the creature, that's how close it came.

It's still over there, Zangetsu may hear the noises it makes when it moves on the metal of the chute. It's matter of time before it descends again to attack...]

[ No that's it, that's really the tag.

Rembrandt had hoped that he wouldn't need to be back here so soon (or at all), but given the events of well just yesterday, he notices this break in pretty much immediately. So Zangetsu is getting the Erik treatment of being unceremoniously pulled out of the chute. ]

Monkey see, monkey do? [ That would sound more cheeky if he wasn't clearly irritated. ]

[Clever girl...!

His next idea is to pour a whole bucket of water in it and then freeze it, but then yoink. He smiles innocently

(it's hard to smile innocently when your teeth are razor sharp....)]

Oh. Hi, Rembrandt. What brings you here?

Good Evening, Zangetsu. [ Regardless of what time this is, he's not wrong. He crosses his arms once they're disentangled from the chute. ]

A nuisance. What about Erik's experience was so appealing?

[Zangetsu puts his hands behind his back and shuffles his feet, still grinning]

Well, I was curious about those critters. Wanted ta see if I could catch one and eat it -- if they used ta be human, they might be pretty filling! And since this one is here all by it's lonesome, I figured I could take it on. What's the big deal about this chute anyway?

I doubt they would amount to a morsel, even if you could ingest them. [ He tilts his head at that, maybe considering the thought. ]

We make use of this facility, so we have an interest in its protection.

[moonfang]

I could find a way!

Ohhh~? What'cha have in there!

[he moves to peek into the chute again]

[ Deadeyes. ]

And why would I tell you such a thing?

[moonfang]

Cause I asked nicely. Pleeeease?

Absolutely not.

Eh. Worth a shot. [he shrugs and puts his hands in his pockets] I thought you assholes were taking up that whole castle. You can't do everything you need to there?

[dominioned]

Most of what we need to, yes. [ Shrug. ]

But there is something to be said of decor. [ Maybe they just don't want their castle to be cluttered! ]
