EPILOGUE

As the world they've been living in so long quickly dissolves around them, the oppressive air from the Gate fades away from their senses and their vision turns turns completely white. It only takes an instant for their sight to return, but when it does, they'll find themselves in the same dim, dank chamber that they were in a moment before albeit with several main differences: the Gate and the machines that were clustered near it are now gone.

However, you'll only be able to take in this sight for a few seconds before the scenery blurs and suddenly there's the scent of the cool December air brushing past your face, blinding sunlight assaulting the eyes.

It's been six weeks since you've seen anything but the night, so it may take a bit of adjustment before realizing that there's a number of very, very familiar faces before you, as well as one who might not be so recognizable. Either way, one thing is for sure: that long, long Night is over, and it's the start of another Day.

[ He'll smile weakly as he caught one empty McD's wrapper, but he won't say anything about it. ]

It's good to see you again and that everyone else made out okay. It'd been awhile, and things were getting really difficult for awhile...but it all worked out.

[Dist nods in Rean's direction, pointedly shoving the wrapper out of sight. You saw nothing.]

I would argue that "really difficult" is still an understatement.

[He saw everything. Boy did he see everything, including whatever Rean did with the weird eyes and all of that.]

But you all did well, regardless. We're all here, aren't we?

[ Too late, Dist...at least he won't draw attention to it. ]

Haha, yeah, considering what we dealt with, that could be true.

[ So he definitely won't refute that, and uh. Yeah, he sure did, didn't he? But, the other hadn't been treating him differently, so that was a relief. ]

...Thank you for saying that. I think it helped that I had support in all of that, really. But seeing it all come together and the rest of you being here with us...it feels like whatever efforts we made really stuck.

Yes. This was certainly a joint effort, wasn't it? I must admit, I was impressed with how much effort both sides put into investigating and working toward the Lady's defeat.

[It was nice to see! For the longest time it seemed as though they were getting nowhere, but then...!]

I imagine we would have some...problems...on our end, had those of you in the Night not managed to destroy that machine and get Rembrandt to humor you.
