WEEK 6
WEEK 6
Five weeks. It's been five weeks, and twenty-seven has now dwindled down to eleven. And while only two passed this week, this trial may have been the most devastating in its own way, as threads of patience frayed and fragments of trust fractured. Nevertheless, if The Lady is to be believed, that may very well have been the final set of sacrifices that she was waiting for, so perhaps the end is in sight.
Of course, the fact that everyone is still stuck in Krakow means that it's not over yet, and who even knows what's happening over in the Twilight?
And so, some more changes are in store for this week, even if it may not be the same ones that you've gotten used to. For one thing, the fog stays put and no new areas of the city are revealed under the light of the lampposts. Secondly, The Lady is nowhere to be found in the city, with her bookstore office vacated and abandoned with nary a trace as to where she went. And third, the clock tower will no longer operate, which-- well. Actually that's not new at all, but it certainly may make it difficult to keep up with the facade of passing days. At least the moon still serves as a reminder of that, gibbous phase waxing into something fuller over the course of the week even if the color looks a bit off.
It may not be a fresh new start, but it's not time to give up yet, is it? After all, you are all Survivors.
[[Welcome to Week 6! Note that there are no new locations this week, but feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. As alluded above, The Lady will be unavailable, while Rembrandt will still be around on Monday and Tuesday before disappearing for the rest of the week.]]

lmfao I totally missed the edit HERE WE GO
Yes, I am here.
[The feed clicks for a second, but another response comes through after Dist spends a moment searching for the right words.]
I am so sorry, Iago. I can only imagine what I have put you through these last few days.
no worries!! I figured it made more sense to put it here lmao!!!
You have nothing to apologize for. That wasn't your fault - it was that bastard's. [Ango's, he means. He's stopped calling him by name entirely at this point and given how vicious that sounds, it's very obvious why.] He chose to target us, to target you. You did nothing wrong. I would never blame you for this.
[That's the most important thing to establish. It isn't Dist's fault. Though the words are spoken easily enough, there's no losing that desperate edge to them.]

He would be lying if he said he didn't smirk a little while taking in Iago's vitriol over what happened. The fact that he has so much passion in his hatred means he's not completely broken, and that's...good. It sounds like he hasn't given up.]
Oh, believe me, he received an absolute earful from me as well. [Ango really got it bad from both sides.] Still, I feel so foolish for my actions. I should have gone with you, but I prioritized my work.
[Well...what's done is done, though. He shakes his head, however unseen it may be.]
Rest assured that I have not given up, however. We spent a good deal of time exchanging information and exploring. We feel as prepared for the Twilight's collapse as we possibly can.
no subject
[This makes it sound like Iago did any punching at all........
Anyway.]
Your work has always been vital to us. None of us can continue it. Everyone... [A brief pause to collect himself.] Everyone was furious that you had been taken from us. We all agreed that you are the most useful one here.
[Perhaps it doesn't mean all that much now, but Dist deserves to know that. After weeks of trying to remain useful to the group, he should know that they were all very angry about his death at least for that reason.
He settles a bit after that, though.]
I'm pleased to hear it. I knew you'd be just fine over there. [never mind that he's been having a meltdown anyway, shhh.] What have you been able to find?
1/2
You punched him? Bravo, Iago! Believe me, I was on the verge of doing it myself.
[God, he can only imagine how the Lady handled the execution too. But he doesn't really want to think too hard about her right now.
He- He knows about what she wants to do with him, so...]
no subject
Please tell everyone that they have my thanks for thinking as much. You most of all, of course. You have always believed in me. In turn, I absolutely believe in you to see this through.
[Okay. Okay, deep breath. There is no time to get emotional!!
It's hard, though. It's really hard. He desperately wants to be there with Iago. Soon... Hopefully, soon.]
An entire list's worth of discoveries, honestly. Those in the Twilight have been very busy, even prior to my arrival. Shin intends to relay our recent findings in text, for you all to investigate on your end as well. But the most important part is that we believe we have stabilized ourselves enough to survive the Twilight's collapse. All we can really do is wait to truly test that hypothesis...
[It's a little unnerving, but. At least hope is in the equation now.]
no subject
The rest of that, though... Well, it takes him a moment to fight down another relieved, near-hysterical laugh. All this time his biggest concern is something they've been able to address and combat on their end. That was the one thing he couldn't figure out how to address and he's been so damn worried about it, but now...]
I am so proud of you, Dist.
[And sure, maybe it wasn't entirely Dist's doing. But that doesn't matter, because it's something he should have expressed weeks ago and it's said in the same sort of tone one might use for a love confession.]
You've all done so well to be able to prepare for that. If you have faith in that hypothesis, then I know it will turn out fine.
We will do all we can from here - not just to put an end to the Lady and her schemes, but also to help you all. I plan to tell them everything we discussed; I'm done playing games. I'm going to put an end to this.
And once I have, you are never leaving my sight again.
[...iago no.]

Thank you, Iago. Thank you so much.
[Damnit, where's his handkerchief...]
I do have faith in it, as much as I have absolute faith in you- my beautiful, amazing, genius savior. [Dist.] I cannot wait to see you on the other side of all of this. And I certainly have no intention of leaving your sight, don't you worry.
[He lets his laugh carry over this time- full of confidence and excitement to see the end of all of this.]
I wish you all luck- not that you need it, of course. But it's from me, so it still counts for something. [Dist, they need all the luck.] I know you will be very busy, but you can contact me at any time with the walkie talkie. I will answer for as long as I am able.
no subject
That is a dangerous offer. I'm likely to never let you go.
[That was supposed to be teasing, but it... really doesn't sound like it... This is supposed to be Dazai's walkie-talkie but what if he just... steals this too.......???
Anyway. Just... gonna move on, okay!!]
I won't let you down. I haven't so far, have I? [just ignore that your trial nearly ended in losing cumore or mikami shhhh] Nothing is going to stop me from putting an end do this and reuniting with you. There's nothing I could ever want more.
[...He just sort of said it without thinking but... hmm. He's not in the habit of lying to Dist, so maybe it's true. Gods, he really is glad he's alone, he's definitely bright red now...]
no subject
On the other end, Dist feels his heart leap upon hearing those words. Ah, he loves Iago so much... Perhaps when this is over, he will be able to say so in person.]
You haven't, and I certainly don't expect you to start now. Give the Lady and Rembrandt what's coming to them, and perhaps put in an extra punch on my behalf.
[Listen, he loves the idea of Iago throwing a punch at the Lady now that he knows about the Ango ordeal. (hahaha...)
Anyway, after a thoughtful pause, his voice comes through again.]
I have a request. It is unrelated to all of this, but it is important nevertheless. When we meet each other again, would you mind helping me test something? Would you call me "Saphir"?
no subject
Oh? Of course, I certainly have no problems with that. I'll wait until we can meet in person - and I'll want to ask you about it too.
[But that's something to hold onto for now, something else to keep driving him forward. "Saphir", huh...]
Thank you, for everything. I feel as though I can accomplish so much more now that I've heard your voice. I... [He pauses for a moment, long enough for him to cut the feed as he tries to consider exactly how to end that. But after a moment—] I miss you. So much it's unbearable.
[He still doesn't like showing any weakness, but he told Dist he'd be honest with him and he certainly has no plans on changing that now.]
But that's only even more reason to keep moving forward - I look forward to seeing the end of this. Continue to trust in me; I'll ensure everyone who has ever hurt us lies dead at the end of this.
no subject
Thank you. And I will tell you when the time comes, don't worry.
[It's going to be quite the test...but it's one more thing to look forward to.
Hearing Iago say how much he misses him causes his grip on the walkie talkie to tremble slightly, but he's quick to try to steel himself.]
I miss you as well. I know it hasn't been that long, but not being able to see you is excruciating. [It didn't help that a shitshow ensued for the both of them after his unexpected death.] But I am glad to have given you what amount of strength that I am able.
[Sappiness aside, one of his low laughs makes it through the feed. Oh Iago, never change.]
Good. I knew I could count on you to bring them the ruin they deserve.
[...]
Remember, you may talk to me at any time you wish. But at some point, I or any of the others may not answer. Do not fret when this happens. We will be fine, just as I know you will.
no subject
I understand. Thank you for the warning. I trust you completely - if you say that you'll be fine, then I know you will be.
[It's still a terrifying thing to allow himself to lean so heavily on someone else and to fully trust and believe in them. But just like so much else, it's easy with Dist.]
I'll keep in contact with you frequently until that time. Even if we have nothing important to discuss, I... would like to continue hearing from you.
[A soft exhale, but that's followed by a light laugh.]
I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that I'm going to put much of what I've learned to the test today. Someone has to study that disgusting sludge Ulquiorra was so kind to leave us.
no subject
[Of which now Iago apparently owns. Once a thief, always a thief...
As for that last bit, Dist's tone switches to that excited curiosity of his.]
Are you? How delightful. [The science part is delightful. The sludge? Not so much. But still. Science.] I cannot wait to hear your findings.
no subject
Of course. I look forward to sharing them with you.
[...]
Thank you again, for everything. I truly do not know where I would be without you. I do need to get to work, but I will keep this close to me. I'll speak with you again soon.
no subject
You are most welcome, but this goes both ways, you know. But we needn't think that way anymore. We won't be without each other. Not now, not ever again.
[He won't hear anything otherwise. These three days were absurdly hard, and he doesn't want any others like them.]
Of course. I will be here. Best of luck with your work, Iago.
