After Trial Mingle

[ Seems like everyone is either hiding from any blood bending, wanting to take the time to think, or just doing their on thing after a trial as long as that one is. So here's a general mingle for after the trial or the rest of the weekend. ]

[ that sure was a thing that happened, and admittedly, she had some level of confidence in rideaux to know he didn't do the crime. she sees him walking towards the jazz bar and later decides to see if he's still in there.

she knocks. ]

[ Well, at least out of all the living people who could have shown up here, she's the least objectionable. He takes a drink and exhales slowly, looking into his glass for a moment before he finally sets it down and comes to open the door.

By this point we'll assume Dazai has already come and hopefully gone, so Rideaux is a little less committed to keeping the place locked by now, and won't try to rush her inside or anything. ]

To what do I owe the pleasure?

[ It's probably the same line he would have used if she'd come to visit him under any other circumstance, but the delivery is dry, and there's no smarmy smile to accompany it. He just looks tired, honestly. ]

[ she can tell. it's honestly impressive that he's not turning her away like she thought he would. she's walks inside and sits a few seats away from him, pouring herself a small glass of wine. ]

It was foolish of the others to think it was you. [ ... ] My vote went to Ulquiorra, for the record. And Ignis.

[ If she actually looks over to where the musical instruments are, she can see the drum set is knocked over on its side and covered in dents, but everything is in order here on the bar side, at least. He's not one to waste a precious resource.

He closes the door again behind them -- but doesn't bother locking it this time -- and returns to his seat, where his coat is thrown over the back of the chair. He picks his drink back up, and looks over at her when she speaks.

He's glad to hear it, actually; he hadn't really expected any less of her, but it's also in his nature to assume everyone is going to turn against him when the cards are down, so he'd still had doubts. ]

Well, I did always think you had better sense than most of the others.

[ she'll take that compliment, actually. she won't say anything, but she'll nod her head in acknowledgement. she sips on her wine, looking down into her glass. ]

Let's say you did kill Ignis. Why waste a vote on someone who's actually helpful than someone who's more of a liability? Say, Ulquiorra, who was arguably the better choice.

[ He kind of raises an eyebrow at that, though there's really no reason he should be surprised by it; they do both favor pragmatic self-preservation over justice, and it's a strategy that's been in the back of his mind the whole time he's been here. Make himself indispensable so that it will clearly be in everyone's best interest to keep him alive.

...Actually, that's nothing new. That's been his strategy for the past fifteen years.

Good to know it at least worked on one person. ]

I can't say I disagree with that reasoning.

And thank you; I like to think I've more than proven my worth by now. Barring those who may still be contemplating murder themselves, I'm pretty sure I'm the last person anyone should be trying to get rid of, whether they like me or not.

[ Which is one of many reasons that trial was so fucking frustrating. ]

You're our best bet at determining the cause of death. I can only imagine that someone would want to get rid of you so they can get away with the crime.
