Last week could probably only be summed up as a mess. Three people died, one was turned to currency and the hotel pool remains in a general state of unusability unless swimming in pulpy mush is someone’s idea of a good time. And that’s not even counting the haunted morse code T-Rex. At least the greenhouse is as relaxing as ever, even if someone seems to have made off with a number of succulents and cacti.

But with the new week comes a new set of locations to explore as the fog retreats to reveal another portion of the city. The half moon wanes to a new moon this week, leaving streets even dimmer this week -- hopefully you have some other portable sources of light available if you plan on straying too far beyond the reach of the lampposts in the new areas.

[the snowglobe shows a weird sideways city. Instead of snow, the silvery glitter is shaped like raindrops and seem to be weighted so they fall with the round end down]

Does it show his home, too?

It's not his. It shows Kyoto and has falling leaves inside. We haven't found who it belongs to.

[ Much mystery ]

You're from a world that's sideways?

Kyoto in the fall, huh...?

Yeah. [he shakes it and holds it up, watching the raindrops fall] This is what the inside of Ichigo's soul looks like -- this is my home.

[ He watches the little rain drops fall for a moment. ]

You've been to Kyoto?

[ It looks like there's more worlds that are similar after all ]

So there's a whole city inside of his soul? Are all souls like that?

[moonfang]

Ichigo's been there on vacation.

[he shakes it again]

It's totally empty except me and the Old Man, but yeah. Everyone's inner world is different -- beaches, caves, vast open plains, the peak of an icy mountain, a copy of the town you grew up in... they can be anything.

[ He doesn't need to really think hard about what his might look like. ]

Mine would probably be completely dark.

[ Hmm ]

Who's the Old Man?

That would be dreary. But... it'd suit ya.

[he sets aside the snowglobe for a moment]

The short version is, he's another manifestation, like me, of a different aspect of Ichigo's powers. He is also Zangetsu, in a way.

It wouldn't be any different from living.

[ He says it in the usual tone of voice for when he's messing around. ]

So he would be... Zwogetsu?

[Zangetsu barks out a laugh at that]

Nigetsu. Ichigo usually calls him "Zangetsu-ossan." He's a nice enough guy, but not much for idle chatter.

Ah, so you get lonely in there.

[ Tapping the snow globe. ]

... It'd be different if Ichigo came to visit every once in a while, but he never does. [he sounds like a bitter old grandpa...] Most Shinigami meditate with their Zanpakutou at LEAST once a week!

[ he needs a notice me senpai sign ]

Have you asked him to visit you more?

[moonfang]

.. Nah. He's... busy. He's not like normal Shinigami. He's still alive. He has a life to live. We can't be selfish.

He doesn't even have Sundays free?

[ Wow. He can spare a little meditation? ]

Are you sure he's busy? You aren't just being shy?

If he ain't doing substitute Shinigami stuff, he's studying hard to do well on his college entrance exams...

[he sighs]

I'm still not sure he even really "gets it".

[pointedly ignorning that bit. Zangetsun]

That's why you have to communicate while you still have the chance to.

[ Says the dude with the worst communication ]

We can get his attention in his dreams, if we hafta. But usually he blows those off as "just dreams". Such a troublesome master.

Sounds pretty tough being a weapon.

It's probably easier than a lot of other lives... but at the same time, you ain't got a lot of agency. [he grumbles] ... I guess that's why I'm having trouble with this. I need direction.

Are you asking for direction?

[moonfang]

[he looks away, sheepish, and rubs the back of his neck]

... Maybe.

[ Zangetsun. ]

You might want to ask someone better for direction.

[ At least someone with patience ]

[he chuckles]

You sell yourself short.

I'm not a patient person when it comes to my underlings. I don't tolerate insubordination and I'm very strict..

[ And Zan seems to be all instinct. He's a lot like a katana, like Akutagawa, but he's more than just killing instinct. It's probably not a good match. ]

Hehehe. Yer right, then. We'd get along like oil and water. I don't like always doin' as I'm told.
