Last week could probably only be summed up as a mess. Three people died, one was turned to currency and the hotel pool remains in a general state of unusability unless swimming in pulpy mush is someone’s idea of a good time. And that’s not even counting the haunted morse code T-Rex. At least the greenhouse is as relaxing as ever, even if someone seems to have made off with a number of succulents and cacti.

But with the new week comes a new set of locations to explore as the fog retreats to reveal another portion of the city. The half moon wanes to a new moon this week, leaving streets even dimmer this week -- hopefully you have some other portable sources of light available if you plan on straying too far beyond the reach of the lampposts in the new areas.

It came with a guidebook too. Memorizing that certainly helped a lot.

Yeah, he is. He's a good, skilled man with a sense of responsibility who knows how to treat well those under his care in the town...

...And of course he knows how to show how much he loves his family. Without him, I'm sure I wouldn't have become the person I am today, and I'm forever grateful to him for all he's done for me.

Some were, but it would be much more fun if I could stack the deck and draw the cards I want to show. I might have to find a way to subtly mark the cards.

[It's more a placeholder than anything else as he gathers his thought and makes another move; a bit careless, but nothing that will cost him the game.]

What of the rest of your family? Do you have any siblings?

Oh, you should do that. Creating the perfect set in advance would be wonderful. If you do any future readings of the sort, I would certainly like to hear them.

That might actually be interesting to try on the Lady, but I think she would kill me for stacking the deck.

[ He'll shuffle the cards before offering them and the booklet back over to Ango. He does take the chance to press his fingers against Ango's hand when he does reach for them. It's brief to keep others from noticing it. ]

Yes, they're just cards. They're meant to guide you to answers, and they're not set in stone. In this case, instead of encouragement, it could be a warning.

...and there is one last card, which will show your future.

[He's hoping for something better here, he really is. But then he flips the death card, and that notion goes right out the window.]

[That touch may be nice, but it makes the guilt even worse.]

I did say I wanted to do cards for you next, didn't I?

[His heart isn't quite as into it when he shuffles the cards and gets the emperor first.]

Ah. A fitting card for a mafia executive as yourself. I think you can guess what this card means about you.

If you have any insight into that, I would appreciate it.

The most I've been able to get from either of them is that she apparently did practice magic at least once, according to Rembrandt. I assume that whatever she attempted to do went poorly. I did find something that supports that idea, but I plan to share it at the meeting anyway, if you can wait until then.
