SECOND TRIAL

Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

[ ...Alright, time to get this over with.

Also he has the knife in a McDonald's bag. ]

As I was looking over Lysithea's body in the Aquarium, I took the knife out in her back, which seemed to be bloody and a knife from McDonald's. I also noticed that there wasn't much of a bloodstain in her clothing, so I began to try to search for any more wounds, or if the one in her back had been fatal.

I discovered that the wound in her back was specifically in her upper back, between her shoulders, but not through her spine.

The cause of death seems to be by her drowning, as she let out a discharge from her nose and mouth when I had been turning her over.

[ So yeah, that was a thing that happened. ]

[Hmm...]

The wound diagram shows something on her wrist, did anyone see that?

Drowning, though... How exactly did that happen? Did she have any marks or bruises on her anywhere else?

I didn't see anything on her wrist, but I did notice she had a wound on one of her left fingers, though Alfyn had been looking at that closer than I was.

[ Rean had also seen it when he rolled up her sleeves and was doing a full body examination since it was kind of hard to miss. ]

...I really tried my best, but I couldn't find any other marks or bruises despite searching every inch of her.

Interesting, so it's unlikely she was held in the aquarium until she drowned.

[personal profile] reanbeans 2020-01-18 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
...There might have been another way to hold her, though. By someone's power.
psychophant: (✦ 02)

[personal profile] psychophant 2020-01-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's an excellent point. Which of the powers would have been capable of something like that?

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-18 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd assume Gravitas would be capable. Being held down would practically require her to detonate the fish if she wanted to lower the water levels in the tank before she drowned.

That's an excellent theory. [well you know, aside from it being horrible, but that's not the point!!] Does anyone know what the limitations are on using Gravitas on people? I know objects were mentioned before.

We could ask out local Gravitas expert to test it out.

[ Where's Shiro ]

I think Gravitas. Shiro has been talking about its effect on objects, but he'd said that it didn't have any penalties if it was used on himself.

So, maybe it could work the same way if it was used on another person—no penalties.
psychophant: (✦ 03)

[personal profile] psychophant 2020-01-18 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
No penalties if used on himself, hmm... That's a very interesting idea, thank you, Rean.

Unfortunately, it is a bit too soon to start pointing fingers, but it's something to keep in mind.

Using Gravitas on oneself could have also made it easier for the culprit to escape through the window with no injuries.

The window wasn't very high up anyway, but yes, that's true.

Gravitas is the obvious one, but Gelu might be a contender. Temporarily freezing the water above her would make it impossible for her to escape.

Likewise, calling upon a doppelganger to hold her down and then letting it, and with it all evidence, disappear... it's an option.

[personal profile] psychophant 2020-01-18 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That's interesting. I hadn't considered Gelu... I suppose there wouldn't be a way to tell if that's what happened if someone with that power is capable of melting the ice on command.

Klados is certainly a possibility as well. Let's see what else we can determine to see if we can narrow it down any.

Sorry, but I can’t melt the ice once I’ve made it. Not unless I’ve got some warm water on hand.

Can you tell me more about how it works, then?

Perhaps Aufero as well, making her too tired to struggle. I have that power, but I can promise I have not used it on anyone here.

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-18 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? I've been curious about that one. What kind of "energy" is involved, exactly? I assume it's not just for making people tired or waking them up.

This isn't about what held her down, but potentially related to the killer's powers-- Something else we might want to address is that there was a burning smell in the bloody holes in the wall.

It might be possible that some other power was combined with hers, somehow. Lux, for instance?
moonfang: (almost human)

[personal profile] moonfang 2020-01-18 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, some of that blood was totally turned to ash! Takes a lot of heat to do that.

Lux seems to be the most likely contender.
