Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

Gravitas is the obvious one, but Gelu might be a contender. Temporarily freezing the water above her would make it impossible for her to escape.

Likewise, calling upon a doppelganger to hold her down and then letting it, and with it all evidence, disappear... it's an option.

That's interesting. I hadn't considered Gelu... I suppose there wouldn't be a way to tell if that's what happened if someone with that power is capable of melting the ice on command.

Klados is certainly a possibility as well. Let's see what else we can determine to see if we can narrow it down any.

Sorry, but I can’t melt the ice once I’ve made it. Not unless I’ve got some warm water on hand.

Does that matter? I'm hardly the only person here who hasn't volunteered what power I was gifted.

Then I don't think I'm gonna say anything else! Besides, I was in my room all night. I froze the door shut in case anyone got a bright idea about stabbin' me in my sleep. ... It was more of a pain the ass to get it open again than I expected.

To be fair, there were several candles and matches next to the tank, so it's not like there wasn't at least a small heat source available.

Not enough to melt a large sheet of ice in that short a time, I wouldn't think, but just putting that out there.

Pfffttt. If there's one thing I've learned, it's how well ice insulates itself. It'd take a lot more than a few piddly candles.

Perhaps Aufero as well, making her too tired to struggle. I have that power, but I can promise I have not used it on anyone here.

Oh? I've been curious about that one. What kind of "energy" is involved, exactly? I assume it's not just for making people tired or waking them up.

Apparently it can also be used to power electrical devices. I can drain them as well, but I haven't found any exposed power sources. [He's not about to stick his fragile flesh arm into some clock gears.]

It truly is! I've been working hard to solve our electricity problem, and now I discover that I could have had a perfect workaround!
