The clock strikes eight. The intermittent showers that dominated most of yesterday had, at some point during the night, escalated to a complete downpour that drenched the streets. Maybe that's why the morning might almost feel refreshing today—while it can't be said that the birds are chirping and the sun is shining brightly, the breeze is cool without being frigid while the sky is bright with the half moon.

Nevertheless. The deadline for Tuesday's motive was laid down as Friday, and amongst the pleasant earthy smell of the rain may be a tinge of something else.

Well now, how shall you spend this morning?

[Your stalwart investigating spirit deserves a compliment!

While Dazai goes to the third floor, Raven goes up to the floor. The faces of the clocks are up there, large and round. Look at the time, it's sleuthing time. The door to the observation platform beyond the clock is open. Unlike Dazai, though, you don't find mud drops that hint anything.

The mud isn't on the floor, it's on the wall. And it's not some sort of random stain, either.

What are you going to examine?

[ let's look at the mud on the wall. is it in any particular shape or pattern? also, where on the wall is it in relation to the faces of the clock and/or the observation platform? ]

[Luckily for everyone involved in this game, our spatial orientation skills won't have to be tested: the mud is on the same wall than the door to the observation platform!

It's funny, this mud on the wall seems to form a rather abstract bunch of stuff. Lots of straight lines and geometric shapes drawn with mud cover the wall]

HMMMMM.

raven's going to step back. does it look like these lines and shapes form anything in particular? or does this mostly look kinda random, even though it was made deliberately?

also, what sorts of geometric shapes are there? ]

[Give it your best art critic eye, Raven, and you'll see...

...you'll see you have no idea what you're looking at. All those squares and triangles and circles and the lines just connect together, covering most of the wall and almost reaching the observatory door on the center of the wall, but you can't seem to tell what's up with any of this, not even if it was random or deliberate]

[Alfyn approaches next, his own critical eye turned to the wall!

Can he recognize anything in it? A map? A diagram?]

[Alfyn's critical eye reveals...

...still nothing. Looks like this particular abstract thing's meaning is an enigma that won't be able to be solved]

[Maybe he'll move towards the open clock door then, if that's not the direction Dazai went. He's not going to get more out of the mudral by staring at it longer.]

[You're killing me with that pun, you know.

Nope, this is a different place! This open door leads to the outside, to a small observation deck. Above you there's one of the faces of the clock, and the view around is spectacular.

You may be interested on the view that's way closer to you, though! Here on the floor of the observation deck you'll see two things: one is an object on the floor. The other is something tied to the base of the railing of the deck.

[Hi guys, what's up. Nice of you to join Ango! Let's take a look at this object here:

It's a bottle! A bottle on its side, it's a bit of a miracle it didn't roll and get lost. There's a big opening on it where a can was embedded, and there's a candle inside, already melted]

A bottle with a candle... and a can? [Does it have any special things for where it's placed beyond being near the door, or can Alfyn pick it up and look closer?]

[Pick it up if you'd like! Looks like there's nothing particularly special about the place this was at]

What in the world would this thing even be for?

Makes me think of the lanterns the taverns had inside.... sorta.

[It's very makeshift, and has Alfyn scratching his head as he picks it up and examines it]

[Take a good look at this novelty object, Alfyn! Looking at the candle and the melted wax, maybe you'll be able to tell something. The now hardened wax spills out and reaches the edge of the can pocket]

[Let's take a closer look at this mystery item!!!]

[Alright, taking a closer look to this bottle can thing!

Determining how skillful whoever made it is may be impossible, but you do can tell something: it doesn't seem like it's existed for long. The bottle is clean, the tin from the can is shining and without many smoke stains in the inside of the can, and the cuts made on the bottle and can to assemble it are still sharp. Don't touch them, you may get cut.

All that plus the freshly melted candle seem to be all there's to check about this object]

[There seems to be nothing else lying around here on the floor!

Looks like the only stuff other than this curious object is...whatever's tied to the base of the railguard. Whatever it is, seems to be hanging from a rope of sorts.

Nothing to do but get that up so you can examine it to your heart's content.

[Okay, time to reel that up then. What horrors is he about to find?]

[Reeling it up is easier than you may expect, both the rope -- rope you and Alfyn may find is makeshift like that other object you found -- and the thing hanging from it feel rather light. Finally, after some pulling, there's a head! And then a torso, and the rest of a body.

Thankfully, this isn't a second victim. It's a deity statue. Anyone who may have been at the prop room may recognize it as one of the foam statues found there.

So yes, there currently is a makeshift rope and a foam deity statue to examine. Want to split this, Alfyn, Ango?]

[ now that we're done looking at the markings, raven's gonna go over to the railguard. is there any dried blood here, specifically? ]
