WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Was what happened on Friday yet another tragedy in a string of them or just a complete shitshow? Well, regardless of which line of thought you subscribe to, the reality of it is that another three of your number are no longer in this realm with you. At least the remains of what had happened last week have been neatly cleaned up as always, even if that might not change what’s been etched in your memories. The drum set in the jazz bar remains busted though, because the masterminds aren't that generous. At least the tarot shop and boutique remain fine even if the vanished crystals and women's clothing aren't going to be restocked.
But either way, it’s a new week, and that means new locations to explore as the fog gives way to more of the city and its lamplit streets. The new moon waxes to half this week, appearing as a crescent moon for most of the week. It's far from optimistic, but maybe the brightening is a sign that this will be over soon...? Or maybe it just means the worst is yet to come, it's hard to say.
[[Welcome to Week 5! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 5 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]

[ He'll set his car down on the Go space. Beep beep meow. ]
Let's see, now, starting funds...
[ Checking the directions again to see how many of each bill they're supposed to get, and yes, he just totally commandeered the banker role here.
Here, Rean, enjoy your fake cash. This is as generous as he'll ever get with money.
Aaaand ready to go!! ]

Also we can handwave them playing and being vague about this because lol I don't remember the rules!! But generally Rean's very cautious and absurdly stingy/careful with his money. ]
...This isn't so bad. Maybe I can introduce this game to some friends I know back home.

It's fun, right? A little bit of it is luck, of course, but I feel like these kinds of games actually give you a fairly good idea of whether someone is smart with money or not.
[ Draws a Get Out of Jail Free card and sets it aside for future use... ]

But. His luck is bad? Just bad.
He's in jail soonner than later. This will happen more than twice. ]
Yeah...among other things.

[ He definitely waited until he was close to winning to share this advice. ]
It works better later in the game once you've actually built things up, obviously.

[ Rean sounded so defeated. He knew a loss when he saw one... ]
Though, I think you were playing the angle of buying properties better than I was. But still, it was a good round, I think.

[ tbh they might be the only people left in the bar by this point since monopoly takes so fucking long ]
And I agree. You don't have bad instincts, actually.
no subject
And wait, was that a compliment? ]
Thank you. I think I've heard someone say that before, but it really does help me a lot, especially when things are in a pinch.
[ His instincts hadn't steered him too wrong so far, and it's one of his strengths - good for having in a place where he lacked his ability to perform crafts and orbal arts. ]
...You're rather good at strategizing yourself in a game like this, though. Even on your first time through.

[ Retrieving the dice... ]
To be fair, it really is similar to a game we have back in Elympios, so I wasn't exactly starting from scratch, at least with the basic strategies.

[ Dear Aidios, he didn't really know how else to respond to that, given the sheepish look. But it was probably true, despite his constant patrols.
Then again, Rean wasn't exactly an ideal target either, considering. ]
It's been honestly quite awhile since I've played any board games, so I had to say it felt like I was flying by the seat of my pants for awhile. But, maybe next time if we go another round, experience or not, our match might run a little closer as to who'll win.
no subject
[ You just implicitly called them all assholes... It's not wrong though, which is why he sounds more amused than offended. ]
They're not something I usually have time for myself... or anything I'd care that much about even if I did, to be honest.
But sure, I might be up for a rematch sometime.

[ As far as he's concerned, just because someone wasn't generally nice didn't mean they were an asshole, but he did think that most of the nicer people had died, so...there was that. ]
Because of things back home?
And I guess I'll hold you to it, if you're up for it.
[ He'll rise to his feet. ]
no subject
[ He'd probably have a whole year of paid time off saved up by now if he could actually roll over all of the unused hours from one year to the next. ]
I'll be waiting, then.
