WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Was what happened on Friday yet another tragedy in a string of them or just a complete shitshow? Well, regardless of which line of thought you subscribe to, the reality of it is that another three of your number are no longer in this realm with you. At least the remains of what had happened last week have been neatly cleaned up as always, even if that might not change what’s been etched in your memories. The drum set in the jazz bar remains busted though, because the masterminds aren't that generous. At least the tarot shop and boutique remain fine even if the vanished crystals and women's clothing aren't going to be restocked.
But either way, it’s a new week, and that means new locations to explore as the fog gives way to more of the city and its lamplit streets. The new moon waxes to half this week, appearing as a crescent moon for most of the week. It's far from optimistic, but maybe the brightening is a sign that this will be over soon...? Or maybe it just means the worst is yet to come, it's hard to say.
[[Welcome to Week 5! Note that new areas have been added, and can be found under the Week 5 tab on our Locations page. Once again, feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. You can also privately contact The Lady or Rembrandt.]]
investigation??
Anyway, if Iago was having any issues after the last trial, they're all gone by Tuesday. He seems to be doing just fine as always, and he's dressed in the same sort of black suits he's been wearing for the past week. He does have the cape on today because it's cold, shut up. He's been particularly scarce since the trial, but it looks like he's finally out and about again today. His first stop this afternoon is the church and while he may in fact need Jesus, he isn't here for religion. You can catch him poking around the place, in particular investigating the confessional since Rembrandt seems to be busy in the art museum lately...
And speaking of the art museum... that's where he's headed next! Iago's not really properly investigating because he keeps getting distracted by the displays and being Very Confused About Modern Art, but what do you expect from him. Does he look like an artist to you??
Alternatively, you can find him in the employees only area stealing things he likes. As usual. We're on week 5 and nothing will stop him from looting now. He may or may not be shaking all the snowglobes. Snowglobes are fascinating, okay!!]
art museum...adding another thread to our pile
He turns around from what he was looking at to see Iago on his mission of shaking all the snowglobes. He comes over to join him, picking up a snowglobe in the process of scattering particles of fake snow over the mini museum inside.]
I take it these have captured your interest?
never too many threads!!!
They have. [shakes another one!!] I received something similar from the post office, though I figured it belonged to someone so I didn't hold onto it.
[And now he has so many more to shake!! Look at them all. These are so cool!!!]
<: !!!
They are a very popular souvenir in my hometown. Keterburg is known for its beautiful snow showers.
[Even if it was the place of tragedy for him, he also has a lot of fond memories of his home.]
Is that what captivates you with the snowglobes? The snow particles?
no subject
[They're more idle words than anything else as he considers his response.]
Nohr is fairly cold compared to most of the surrounding countries and we do get snow, though not nearly as much as the northernmost regions of the country.
[and yet the dark mages still run around not wearing shirts smh.
He watches the snow swirl in this snowglobe for a moment, inclining his head.]
I'm not entirely sure what it is that's so captivating about these. They're... interesting.
["Cute" is probably the word he's looking for here.]
no subject
[Though he's...kind of a wanted criminal right now so hopefully that's blown over by the time they get there. It's fine. It'll be fine.
Iago can handle Nohr's cold in his dumb dark mage outfit but not Krakow's? smh.]
Charming, perhaps? [That's a little more Iago-sounding than "cute". Maybe.] Miniaturized scenes surrounded in snow... It is not uncommon to find them in the rooms of children in Auldrant.
no subject
also why do you think he spent 99% of his time in the castle??]
Yes, charming sounds about right. [also thanks, he's definitely a kid.] We don't have anything quite like this in Nohr; I suppose it's the novelty of it that has me so captivated.
[much like everything else here tbh.]

But onto the confessional! Just like the public side, there's not much room where you'd normally find Rembrandt. All in all, it looks pretty unremarkable, except it appears someone left a book behind... ]

Iago holds in his hands Tom the Piper's Son. Not exactly confessional time reading. ]
no subject
okay, you know what, for ease i'm going to say he can read it. nohr speaks english now, it's canon and no one can argue this with me because i'm the only one playing from it in this game!!!
Anyway, he'll copy down the title and the weird nursery rhyme inside. Is there anything else to note about the book? Is it just one nursery rhyme in this book or is there more to it? He probably shouldn't steal it since Rembrandt might get mad...]

...Dare I ask why you're more interested in taking these things than the actual artwork? I'd imagine the artwork itself would be worth a fair amount once we're done here.
no subject
I fully intend to take what I can at some point. I see no reason to bother with that right now, however. Rembrandt seems fond of the place, and I don't want to risk irritating him.
[but once rembrandt is no longer a concern, he's stealing all the valuable shit!!!]
These are simply interesting.
[shakes a snowglobe for emphasis!!!]

[They seem sort of like something Estelle would like. His taste and hers don't tend to overlap outside of a general fondness for pink.]
no subject
[maybe if they were pink........]
Anyway, what brings you here? Exploring the new areas we have access to now?
no subject
[Artwork is nice, okay.]
I don't always recognize what they're trying to do, but I can at least appreciate the effort behind it.

[There's so much about art he just doesn't Get, but this is everything all on display at once. It's wild. Artists are so weird.]

You seem confused.

I believe I'm justified in that.
[Gestures!!! He's currently looking at the computer.]
This is a computer, correct? Why is it here? I was under the impression that these are fairly common. What about this is in any way "art"?
no subject
[ the computer is....... ]
Not even I understand why the computer's here. It's a waste, if you ask me -- though people will find art in almost anything if they try hard enough.

I've seen more bizarre pieces back on Remnant.

[So there could be some weird stuff, he's just totally unfamiliar with it.]
