THIRD TRIAL

Trial III

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"After the fiasco somebody I won't name caused yesterday, I'm glad to see someone else had the courage to do what was needed. This time it's a valid murder. To the culprit: I wish you good luck, darling. Let's see you get away with this murder."

Someone seems to be pleased, unfortunately. Anything that makes the Lady pleased can't be good, can it?

Let the trial for the death of Olivert Reise Arnor and Sirius begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

Why would I lie about something like that? But yes, of course he can confirm it.

[tell them dist!!!!]

You're right in that there are still a few people who haven't revealed their powers, but if I'm remembering correctly, that would be... Cumore, Erik, Ignis, and me. Out of all of them, I'm the only one who would come close to leaving behind colors like that.

So tell me, Shin, are you going to try to pin this on me now that you're running out of options?

Tch... That would be a rather stupid move, considering you're the one offering.

Whoever did this must have not understood how cleaning chemicals work, though.

...Is that really your best defense? If I recall correctly... your double doesn't do anything without being given orders. If you ordered it to clean, would it really recognize the danger in those chemicals?

Of course it would. It knows everything I do.

Besides, how do I know you're not an accomplice in the murder or trying to protect that man?

[ aaand after the doppelganger test zangetsu does: ]

If you're still pinning this on Dist, I highly doubt he'd have been able to clean up every single color that wasn't black or white effectively in the time between the murder and the investigation. Even if he was wearing all black and white, his hair color would've left something behind.

There would have been at least a little residue.

Hm? Didn't someone say they saw a bit of pink in that mess?

What I'm saying is that paint mixes together, and it would've been difficult to clean up every single spot of pink at the crime scene. There was no pink present in the kitchen as far as I'm concerned; only in the bucket.

If the killer was really going to be that meticulous about things, I don't see why they wouldn't have just cleaned up all the paint to remove any incriminating evidence, period.

I wonder... if someone covered up their head, would any of the hair color show through at all?

I wasn't seriously expecting you to try to pin the blame on us, but very well.

[He ticks each one off on his fingers as he goes.] The colors Dist's replica would have left behind don't match the ones that were found. There's no benefit to an accomplice killing for an incentive like this. Neither of us are very familiar with the art room, and I doubt Dist knows how to use that... thing. [The kiln.] Finally, how do you expect either of us to move Sirius, even with Dist's double helping?

[They're possibly the noodliest noodles in this game, strength stat of 0 coming in clutch!!!]

But do go on, I really do want to hear your arguments. Tell me what you think happened.

Very well said, Iago.

[Dist isn't even completely in the clear, but he really appreciates Iago sticking up for the both of them...]
