Trial III

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"After the fiasco somebody I won't name caused yesterday, I'm glad to see someone else had the courage to do what was needed. This time it's a valid murder. To the culprit: I wish you good luck, darling. Let's see you get away with this murder."

Someone seems to be pleased, unfortunately. Anything that makes the Lady pleased can't be good, can it?

Let the trial for the death of Olivert Reise Arnor and Sirius begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

This implies that either Olivert came with the culprit voluntarily, or that there were two culprits, who were carrying him as to not have him leave any prints...

The larger set of footprints likely belong to Sirius. It does seem likely that a third person was involved; I imagine if Olivert had that much to drink he'd have a difficult time making it anywhere in a straight line.

Sirius would have an easy time carrying him. He was also one of us who has a strong tie to supernatural ability.

We might want to consider that Sirius was an accomplice who was then betrayed.

We certainly can't rule that out. His manner of death sounds different as well, so perhaps whatever plan was in place went awry.

[ Oh yeah, there's also Sirius. ]

Then Sirius may have either been a part of the plan or was tricked into helping.

That's also a possibility. Sirius might not have had any idea what the killer was planning.

The half hour between the deaths is curious. Either they needed Sirius to do more before the betrayal or Sirius may have left for a short time.

In the case that Sirius was innocent, he may have left the culprit to take care of Olivert and returned unexpectedly, yes. The culprit had to kill him as well to keep him quiet. That would explain the messiness of the second body.

That's what I was thinking. Though, I do have to wonder... Did it look as though Sirius was killed in the freezer?

He was probably killed in the kitchen and dragged to the freezer. There was some blood streaks leading towards the freezer.

Given how large he is, I imagine that would be a very difficult task. I doubt many of us could manage it.

His heels were dragged through the paint. The back of them.

[ Dazai will indicate where by pointing to his own ankle. ]

Ah, I see. That sounds like it confirms it. Was there any paint inside the freezer?

That's the strange thing, there wasn't any. He may have been picked up or it dried before he was placed in there.

[Hmm...]

It's possible they went to get rid of any evidence before returning, which could explain how the paint would have time to dry.

[But that just sounds dumb??]

They may have been drinking as well. Not as heavily as Olivert, but it could have impaired them.

[ Sighs that still sounds dumb. ]

I think we're missing too many pieces still.

According to his profile he only weighed 130lbs. Despite his astounding size, he wasn't that heavy.

Perhaps not, but dragging someone that large who's- [...] ...who isn't exactly going to be able to help you isn't going to be terribly easy, either.

[Finally, some fucking tact. Not much, but at least he didn't call Sirius dead weight or useless or something.]

It would certainly be easier for those of us with greater physical strength, yes. I believe I could personally do it, though it would not be pleasant.

[ But he's also like. obviously not the culprit. so. ]

...I'd be a little alarmed if you found dragging corpses around to be pleasant, regardless of size.

Might explain why the trail stops before the freezer. Or the killer cleaned up most of the mess.

And was his hand dragged as well?

[Most of his contributions seem a bit bemused, like perhaps he’s finally starting to see this as the play that it is. It’s pretty absurd. Also notably, he didn’t bother to even pretend to deal with the investigation either.]

There was a smudge of paint on his palm.

[ Just going to indicate it on his own palm. maybe we should ask for more mod drawings ]

Then something else happened. Or he fell in just the right manner.

[A tilt of the head, the faintest bit bird or catlike like all his movements.

It might be a good idea to clarify the palm thing still. Maybe.]

There's only a couple of people who may be able to lift him.

It's more likely he went with them willingly.
