INVESTIGATION 3

The clock strikes eight. It's a chilly morning, made even frostier by the fierce winds that would assault your body should you decide to step out onto the streets of Krakow. It seems that during the night, some light snow made its way down, blanketing the city in a layer of fluffy white, almost even covering up some of the puddles left by yesterday's destruction. Of course, that's only superficial; the water still remains on the streets as slick, icy sheets uncovered by the howling winds. And in the same way that the frigid winds care little for the tranquility of the snow, yesterday's violent disruption was a strike against the usual Thursday happenings.

Well, a reminder isn't so bad every now and then. After all, it's Friday morning and there's a motive out for the taking. The gusts send up a dusting of fine snow every now and then, but it's not so terrible that it's impossible to take a stroll or search for clues in the half moon's light. So, where to?

[ Mikami pauses. Mikami stands perfectly still for a moment, closing his eyes and accepting that he hates every facet of his life. Then he takes out his face mask and puts it on.

He's a strong lawyer, he can do this. What is or was burning in here, friends? ]

[Let''s check out the kiln! That's where the burning is coming from! Thankfully, opening it is rather easy, and right away he'll have access to the things inside. You may want to get everything in there out, before all you have are cinders and ashes!

Right away he'll be able to see fabric, indeed. Clothing! But yeah, first better make sure it won't continue burning up]

[ He is not sticking his fingers into this, but he will grab two paintbrushes and use them as makeshift tongs to remove what he can from the fire. ]

[The paintbrushes manage to grip the topmost layer of evidence inside the kiln. Once Mikami pulls and lets it fall to the floor, he'll be able to see what's this fabric!

Thankfully, it's not as bad as it could have been. This is intact enough to recognize what it is: a labcoat. This white fabric and the way it extends down -- what's left of it, at least -- are unmistakable]

[ That's not exactly the most identifyable piece of clothing, but maybe they can still work with it.

Before Mikami moves to examine it more closely, he will check the fire once more. Anything else in here to pry out? ]

[Indeed! Once he gets those paintbrushes in, he'll grab and pull out of the kiln another piece of clothing evidence!

Unfortunately, when it falls to the floor, it crumbles away into a bunch of ashes. It's too late to try to find out what it is. All that's left are scraps and a lot of soot]

[ Mikami mutters a very rare curse under his breath.

But okay, even though this went fairly poorly, he's going to look at those scraps. Can he determine color and fabric type? ]

[Oh yes! These scraps are certainly black! But the type of fabric is hard to tell due to all the soot and ash it's caked with. At least you got the color of what's left]

[ Well, it's better than nothing.

Let's look at this lab coat then. Are there any stains on it (that are visible anymore, anyway)? Is the size distinguishable? ]

[umbralant]

[The only visible stains on this lab coat are soot stains! But given where it was found...yeah.

As for the size, looks like the kiln burned the lower part of the coat, as well as most of the upper back -- meaning that, although it's in a relatively wearable state, knowing its exact size is not possible.

But hey, at least it's better than 'bunch of black scraps', because you can't even wear those ones, haha!]

[ He is not happy with this. Then again, has he ever been happy lately? Or at all.

But alright. Alright, he can work with this. Probably.

Now that the evidence has been removed from the furnace, he's going to look around the kiln to see if there's any traces of its recent use left around. ]

[Take a look inside the kiln, Mikami, and you'll see...hm. There's still a lot of ashes here, but it doesn't seem like there's anything else inside, or any traces from anything else it may have been used for. No clay, no other materials...just ash]

[ Oh this is just great. Absolutely fantastic. A killer finally decided to get smart.

Does anything else in the room seem at all disturbed? ]
