finer food, but no music
[Well that was...unpleasant, to say the least. Two more deaths, but this time there's the matter of whatever's happening to Seteth as well.
Ignis is trying not to think about it, which means he's thinking about it a lot, which means he spends a few moments pacing and trying to figure out what to do. He thinks back to the party - for as much as you could call it that - that Olivert hosted, and, well... He's not sure how much morale can be boosted, but it's worth a shot, isn't it?
The decorations of the opera house are much simpler this time around, but the food is noticeably better, between the actual operational kitchen and the fact Ignis is much more skilled than Olivert. The food is well made and it even looks delicious from where it's set up, and there's a sign outside the opera house that reads:]
A not as grand feast, for all of us to enjoy.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it might be better than staying alone.
Catered by Ignis Scientia.
[At least there are less rose petals this time.]

Don't worry, I'm not here to insult you or waste one of my stupid questions on asking what's bothering you.
[He'll just. Shove a jar at Mikami, then; it's got something in it, it looks like it's probably that conditioner he's been working on?]
This is yours. Take care not to drop it. I did what I could with the scent of it, it's as unobtrusive as possible.
[Which is to say it's closer to something like sandalwood, it's inoffensive and generally much softer than it could have been, do not worry he is not subjecting you to his usual brand of smelling like a proper lady.]
You'll thank me later, I'm sure. It always tends to help me, anyway, after days like this.

I already thank you now.
[ It saves them time? ]
Getting my body cleaned up properly always calm me as well.
[ He is not particularly thrilled about having something in common with Cumore, but he is thrilled about feeling more at home in his body, step by step. ]

[Well. Most of us. Lysithea had asked him for some of this as well, she's just a little too dead to collect on it.
Anyway...]
I don't actually hate you, you know.
[It's not an apology by a long shot. Just. Putting that out there.]

I believe that, but I can't say it improves matters much. You're still very eager for my bodily demise.
[ At least Mikami doesn't sound angry (he's genuinely too tired for that), he's just solemn and a little puzzled. ]

[...Speaking of being an asshole, that's...at the very least more on par with what's likely expected.]
I'm well aware that I give you a hard time, because I'm of the opinion that you're quite an idiot. Either way, I'll get bored with you and move on to hassling someone else eventually. I always do.
[...Look, if you want him to be honest, he doesn't know what the actual hell he's trying to accomplish here either. He's done like one halfway nice thing and thrown some really weird assurances at you and now he's reached his decency quota for the next year and a half and he doesn't know what to do with himself.]

[ But Mikami has never changed and he has no real intention of changing now either. He's familiar with this, it's a scenario that takes him back to childhood days. And it upsets him, makes him feel dirty by association, but... there's worse going on here. And today was one of those rare days in the life of Teru Mikami that made him prioritize a little. ]
Luckily, our primary goal is a common one - survival. As long as there are righteous people left, I won't let the group die. Even if it means sacrificing my body for vague clues from our cruel captors. It disgusts me to do, more than anything, but unless we find a better way... it may come to that. As long as you remain innocent, it can only be for your profit as well, whether you ridicule this conviction or not.

Perhaps I'm a little envious, in ways.

[ Even Mikami has to admit that he has not been bestowed particularly much happiness in life thanks to this. More often than not, his ideals would leave him injured and humiliated.
And yet, though not pleasant, it's always been satisfying to know he's in the right. To know he's stronger than his foes because he's been fighting the good fight despite all the odds. ]

[It actually doesn't sound like an insult, despite his general thoughts on the Commandant.]
You remind me a lot of Alexei, actually - that's probably why I like giving you a hard time. You put up more of a fight than he usually does with me, though.
