Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

[The charcoal on the page works. The result can be clearly read, nice job!

There are a few indentations that seem like Lysithea started to write but changed her mind about what to say, but after a few attempts she seems to have made up her mind. Her note says:

'My name is Lysithea von Ordelia, of the Leicester Alliance of Fódlan. If you are reading this, I am most likely dead. Whether that is by our hosts' hands or something else has happened, I can't say. I may be a mage, but soothsaying isn't something I have ever been capable of doing.

I'm writing this to urge all of you to keep going. Please don't let our hosts win this twisted game. Please bring them to justice for the crimes they've committed against all of us.

If Seteth is reading this, I have a specific request: when you go home, and I have every hope that you will, please help stop 'those who slither in the dark'. I don't want them to have the chance to hurt anyone ever again. Also, please say a prayer to Saint Seiros and Saint Cethleann to watch over me.

I don't know about that. It means she went out intentionally and knew there was a chance she would die. She might have been considering the motive.

It does sound like she has some enemies. Who are "those who slither in the dark?"

...I do not wish to go too far into it out of concern for her privacy, but “those who slither in the dark” are some horrendous underground organization not unlike our hosts in that they perform all manner of human experimentation. Lysithea and her family suffered greatly at their hands, but... I do not know if she would have acted on the motive unless the Lady and Rembrandt provided some way of eliminating the entire group. She did not know much about the organization’s structure or if it could be traced to one person.

Hmm... that would make this a pretty huge gamble for her to go for. She wasn't usually that reckless, was she?

...I'm not sure if "reckless" is the word I'd use for her, but she always struck me as being in something of a hurry to accomplish things. I wonder if she thought this was the only opportunity she may have had to actually take down this group.

Well, even so, there are a lot of things in this case that don't seem consistent with a killer acting in self defense. If she was going to go ahead with it, it probably wouldn't have been right there at the aquarium.

It's true. It ultimately wouldn't give us much more of an idea of who killed her, either...

That, and it was already the eleventh hour. ... I want to believe that Miss Lysithea died as someone we could have trusted. We may never know, but there's no reason to do otherwise.

Well, she did have a cut on her finger, did she not? I think those may be connected.

Or perhaps these were simply the last ramblings of a girl afraid of a great deal of things here, including death.
