SECOND TRIAL

Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

[ Mikami also brought clothes, but the clothes are only a carrying device. He'll put them down on the stage and open them, which makes them... smelly, sorry. He's brought fish chunks for examination if needed be. ]

The fish in the aquarium were... detonated, for a lack of better word.

[ Okay time to walk a long way back from the fish chunks, bye. ]

There were also small holes in the wall, faintly reminiscent of bullet holes and bloody. We can assume they were made by use of the Sanguis ability.

To get this out of the way now, Seteth and I both have that ability. He said that Lysithea did as well, and that she may have been the one to use it.

Whoa! Sanguis sounds really cool.

[He doesn't have as strong a sense of smell anymore, but he still knows what old fish smells like. Can he tell how long ago this fish was exploded?]

[ ZANGETSU SMELLS REAL BAD but it’s mostly his breath — his clothes were protected by his poncho ]

The blood bullets in the wall came from fish blood, just so ya know. For some reason that blood was pretty burnt up as well. Tasted totally nasty. I think a Sanguis user probably pulled the blood right outta those poor fishies. Maybe fer practice?

There were candles. Perhaps, like the boy last week, this user required a medium to learn the use of their powers.

[He's giving Zangetsu a wide berth this is what you do to wild animals that have just had a meal?? It's fine?? To be fair he's always about this far away but now it's slightly further!]

I find it hard to believe all that mess was just for practice.

I dunno what candles hafta do with blood, but whatever you say, Batman.

[he taps his chin thoughtfully]

Maybe she thought she was in danger.

That is not my name, Hollow.

[Neither of them are calling each other by name now, this is great. Also apparently that takes priority over exposition, so the candles are going to have to be in the wind for now.]

If she didn't think she was in danger, she would be even stupider than I thought.

[he blows a big blue raspberry. ] Okay, Bruce Wayne.

I mean, technically aren't we all in danger?

[He's out of range, so all that does is make him deadeye a bit more. It's probably a lost cause. Hollows, honestly.]

Yes. Some of us are more adept at dealing with it than others.

[Like, this level of danger is kind of an inconvenience for them compared to back home if only because of the power level switch. Sigh.]

...it’s odd, but I found one other fish over by the candles that was, well...

[He brings over the sliced-up fish he found!]

I found it by some of the extinguished candles, and it doesn’t match what happened to the rest of the fish.

Maybe this fish [ ugh, gross ] was 'experiment zero'. Before detonating the other fishes' bodies, this was where the researcher, presumably Lysithea, figured out the anatomical requirements.

That wouldn’t surprise me. There were some holes in the aquarium itself, which I confirmed were probably the result of the use of Sanguis.
