Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

I... guess that's possible, but who would have something that one of us could blackmail them with?

Maybe someone made a deal with Lady and got extra information or maybe they found out a secret.

Huh. Would she even do that? [that's... one heck of a layer to add to potential cases, if so. wow]

We can't rule it out, but it might be best not to focus on that angle for now either.

Right. Besides, among this group, I think someone with a simple enemy they want dead is a lot more likely.

In any case... I think if there is one, the accomplice would be the Lux user. Frankly, the ashes seem like they don't have much to do with what happened in the tank itself.

Do we even know if Lux leaves ashes behind?

He would be the expert.

Of that, I admit I'm not completely sure. I've only used the blade ability on Rembrandt...

But I also don't think the candles that were there would be able burn blood to that extent.

Maybe we can test it on something to find out. The question is, what should we try?

Might as well use it on the fish parts Mr. Mikami brought, if we're going that far.

[ Nodding his head. ]

[ He just gestures to where he places the clothes with fish chunks on them on the stage. HE'S NOT TOUCHING THIS AGAIN. ]

just kidding, this is fine. no one wants to risk being splattered with guts.

And nor does he want to get particularly close to these again either, so here are three light daggers materializing above the fish and then just plunging down into them. Now his opponent's monsters cannot declare an attack for three turns. But more importantly, does this burn them to ashes?]

[Wow, three daggers for one tiny fish? That's kind of overkill, but then again if you're testing for ashes, well... you'll get them. Granted, it's not like the whole fish has been carbonized completely because there are definitely still some notable lumps of burnt flesh here and there but needless to say, it's definitely more than just a little well done.

Also there's that now familiar smell of burnt blood, so enjoy that too.]

Well... now we know it won't just vaporize. Sorry for the smell, everyone.

[ Well then. ]

That is pretty much the same smell, by the way.

Did anyone take the knife out of her back and compare the wound there to the knife?

I took out the knife and it looked like it was made from the knife itself.

If you handled the knife, how does the size of the light-knife Suzaku just made compare to the other knife?

[ Huh. Sounds like the consensus is that it's a match! ]

Just in case... Pizza, can you try using your power too?

[ He hesitates and looks around the room. ]

Will you believe me that it doesn't leave a mark like that? If someone else can back up what I'm saying too.

...Unfortunately I really don't know what kind of mark it leaves behind.
