Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

In the case of an accomplice, we'd have to consider how the motive figures into it.

People from the same world might have reasons to wish to eliminate the same person. Otherwise, I can hardly imagine any of us got so close to one another to go this far yet.

Not necessarily. In the rules it says an accomplice gets a minor version of the motive, so someone who would rather have their target killed than to have them erased from existence may have had a reason to cooperate.

Blackmail could also be a motive to participate.

I... guess that's possible, but who would have something that one of us could blackmail them with?

Maybe someone made a deal with Lady and got extra information or maybe they found out a secret.

Huh. Would she even do that? [that's... one heck of a layer to add to potential cases, if so. wow]

We can't rule it out, but it might be best not to focus on that angle for now either.

Right. Besides, among this group, I think someone with a simple enemy they want dead is a lot more likely.

In any case... I think if there is one, the accomplice would be the Lux user. Frankly, the ashes seem like they don't have much to do with what happened in the tank itself.

Do we even know if Lux leaves ashes behind?

He would be the expert.

Of that, I admit I'm not completely sure. I've only used the blade ability on Rembrandt...

But I also don't think the candles that were there would be able burn blood to that extent.
