SECOND TRIAL

Trial II

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"This time we don't need any introductions, do we? Let's make this an interesting trial, just like last week. Give me a name! Who is the killer this time?"

Short and sweet. Will the Lady give you that offer later? Only time will tell.

Let the trial for the death of Lysithea von Ordelia begin.

[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

There were skid marks outside and it was pretty wet. Maybe they will have grass, grass stains, or even mud?

[ Maybe they will find nemo on the bottom of someones shoe ]

This is probably the most unreliable check that we could do under these circumstances. It has been raining on and off the entire time we've been here- just recently, even. I would say that any sort of buildup could have been accrued at any time.

[No he is not still bitter about last week or anything...]

Besides, if the culprit changed their clothing, who is to say that they did not also change their footwear?

...Well, I don't think it's something we shouldn't try.

The killer was a little careless last week, and we managed to catch him because of a simple check.

[ As much as he disliked saying that. ]

That evidence was far more damning than some mud and grass being present on someone's shoes. I am saying that we should not narrow down suspects based on simple things like this. It will only create unnecessary discussions.

[...AGAIN, NOT BITTER OR ANYTHING...]

[ Oh Dist...

He actually could understand that point. But. ]

I'm actually thinking that maybe something like a piece of fish could've been stuck to someone's shoe? That'd be more of a way to narrow it down, and that's why I'd like it if everyone cooperated.
pr159: (of course it's me you've come to try)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-18 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You realize all of us investigating in the aquarium were tiptoeing around fish bits, right? We'd be more likely to have some on our shoes than someone who went skidding on wet grass afterward.
ortion: (❀ contemplating)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-18 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That is exactly what I was about to say, thank you Rideaux.

[He wasn't there, but from what he's heard so far, it sounded like quite the mess at the aquarium.]

[ He really didn't want to argue this, honestly. So he'll table it for the sake of not wasting anymore time. ]

...I don't agree, but I can understand your point.

[ He'll just come back to this if it's a last resort, if anything. ]
pr159: (but things don't work that way)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-18 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
For the record, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it if you have nothing to hide. I'm just saying residual fish pieces probably aren't the main thing we should be searching for.

You don't have anything to hide, correct?
ortion: (❀ just no)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-18 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow Rideaux are you implying he does?]

I don't- I simply find it extremely aggravating to be suspected for something so trivial like I was last time.
pr159: (i don't have time to regret)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-18 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Not necessarily, just that you're really bad at not looking guilty?? ]

Look, that's fair, but it's more suspicious if you don't comply. Just saying.
ortion: (❀ do u think this is a game)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-18 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[U RITE, U RITE.......

So with an angry huff, Dist...finally complies.]

Absolutely wonderful to know that I am damned if I do and damned if I don't with you people.

[His shoes...are just wet, with only minor wear and tear from having to walk around. Nothing outright suspicious, though, but still pretty annoying for Dist. He could have avoided this if he had his chair...]

You may have noticed that we ruled you out again last week. Narrowing down a suspect pool is a necessary part of solving a crime, however unpleasant for those innocent. I apologize for inconvenience it might have caused, but it was not personal on any level.
ortion: (❀ extra unsure)

[personal profile] ortion 2020-01-18 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I did notice, thank you, but I am still within my rights to be annoyed by the unnecessary distress that the whole ordeal caused!

[He gets the logic, he's just being Difficult. Sorry, Mikami.]
drydrown: the magna carta's a nice suggestion (HAUGHTY ♡ judging like john marshall)

[personal profile] drydrown 2020-01-18 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You people really need to decide if the murderers we're after are meticulous or stupid. Given that we did this exact thing last week, I would sincerely hope no one here would be careless enough to leave evidence like that in their person.
