Fine Food(?) and Music(???) Await You

[Well that was truly a heartbreaking matter, to say the least. But what follows will be important. If they crack now, there will be no telling what their future holds. So now, more than ever, it is important that they hold together.

Few seem prepared to rise to the occasion, so it is left to Olivert to prepare something truly spectacular.

As the room is prepared, he hums and serenades himself quite happily. It's a good amount of work but he doesn't seem to mind doing it himself, although he would never turn down a few extra hands if they wanted to assist.

The important thing is that the Opera House has been decorated with lights and tables and rose petals aplenty. Enough to brighten up their little gathering. Amongst the tables there is food, but considering at least some if not all of them were the prince's doing, perhaps a little caution may be in order. There is at least probably a fifty/fifty percent chance of it being an edible dish!

Outside there is a sign made up to draw their numbers in.

Tonight, a Grand Feast, to be shared amongst friends.
Everyone is highly encouraged to attend, though it need not be mandatory.
In the darkest hours it is important for the brightest lights to shine.
If necessary, tonight that light shall be me.
Wonderful music and food will be provided, you only need bring yourself.

Prepared by Olivert Reise Arnor.

[Trust nothing about this.]

[Yeah, that right there? That makes Ango frown a little.]

Teru-san, even if he was a criminal he still deserves to be remembered.

[ Ango would say that. Ango, who is so familiar with that Dazai who's profile calls him a Mafia member. Mikami has noticed and he hasn't liked what he'd seen. ]

As a bad example, maybe. Of course, I'm speaking metaphorically. You can't literally erase the memory of a crime and you shouldn't.

[ Actually, he's no longer sure you can't and that's... bad. ]

But pleasant remembrance of the killer is a disservice to the victim.

If he had targeted Elliot on purpose then I would be inclined to agree with you. But it sounds like Elliot was an accidental victim in all of this. and that Hyobu had set that trap to capture someone who would take advantage of the situation and try to kill the 'person' hanging from the rooftop. He just hadn't anticipated that someone would try to help instead of hurt.

With that in mind, plus the threat made against all of us, it's hard to see the situation in black-and-white.

[ Mikami does not find this hard in the slightest. ]

The way his trap was set up was more than vulnerable to so-called accidents like the one that happened. Willfully taking actions with the intent or even knowledge that they'll endanger others' lives means fully embracing the consequences of such eventualities.

It's a flimsy excuse.

It's still different than going out and specifically murdering someone. I'm not saying he's an innocent person who should have gotten away with it, but there are shades of grey within the criminal spectrum.

Within the spectrum, maybe. Within the group of homicide culprits, meanwhile? I don't feel like picking apart minute categories among the worst of the worst.

That may just be a difference in perspective between us, then.
