The clock strikes eight. The intermittent showers that dominated most of yesterday had, at some point during the night, escalated to a complete downpour that drenched the streets. Maybe that's why the morning might almost feel refreshing today—while it can't be said that the birds are chirping and the sun is shining brightly, the breeze is cool without being frigid while the sky is bright with the half moon.

Nevertheless. The deadline for Tuesday's motive was laid down as Friday, and amongst the pleasant earthy smell of the rain may be a tinge of something else.

Well now, how shall you spend this morning?

Body Check

[It takes a few minutes for the main figure sketch to be completed. There's a considerable amount of detail for something done on the fly, but it's a lot better than Mikami's stick figure.

With that, he holds the notebook under his arm for a moment as he kneels in for a closer look.]

[Just for some body context, Elliot's lying face down on his stomach with his right arm under his chest and his left just... sort of flung out there.

What part is Shin going to be getting a closer look at?]

[ He's got that noted in the initial sketch.

He carefully moves the bookbag off the body and sets it to the side for Mikami to check out... Just in case that bag was hiding anything under it.

Which means he's gonna look closer at the torso. ]

[If Shin's rolling the body over to see the torso, there's a couple things he might note. First off, is that the body is pretty stiff, so he might not have an easy time of it. Second, as he turns Elliot over, it's going to be obvious that there's some blood underneath the body, mostly centred around the head although some of it would have seeped into the clothing and is smeared on his face.

Third, beyond his shirt and nice sherpa jacket having some blood around the collar area, there's nothing immediately obvious about his torso although from the whole moving his body thing it's also pretty obvious that Elliot's neck is kind of bent oddly and not really in a comfortable position.]

[ Hm... Rigor Mortis set in... And this man has bled out.

He'll take a closer look at the head first, taking a moment to sketch out what he sees and make notes, before he gently brushes a hand against the back of Elliot's neck in hopes of feeling any broken bone that might be there...

He doesn't mind getting a little blood on him while he's touching the body. ]

[So, let's just get the neck out of the way, first of all. It definitely feels broken with some of the vertebrae shifted out of place and responsible for that awkward bend.

The head, though... well, it's pretty disgusting, to be honest. It's quite a large fracture more on (his) right side and close to the top of his head, and it's to the point where the skull looks kind of caved in, with some of the bone bits mixing around in the grey matter. There isn't that much as far as blood goes though, although his head is definitely still wet with rainwater.

Maybe it's some kind of miracle though considering all this, but underneath the layer of blood caking Elliot's face, his eyes are closed and the rest of his face is more or less unscathed.]

[ Well! Definitely noting that in the first sketch he drew and drawing the state his head is in... It might be a little frightening how he makes no effort to censor the head trauma. It's a quick sketch, but he still makes notes of the details all the same.

When he finishes up, he goes down and checks the chest and arms. ]

[The chest is... well, there's definitely stuff shifting that really shouldn't, particularly where his ribcage is.

As for his arm, if he checks the elbows and wrists, those are pretty obviously dislocated and/or broken, with some nasty-looking abrasions on both hands too.

There's a lot that was broken here, is what I'm saying.]

[Good god. He's going to take the time to sketch the arms, and elbows...

Then he gently takes a closer look at those hands... Then checks on the legs real quick.]

[His hands basically look scraped up and there's some skin peeling off but not much as far as blood goes. It's pretty much all around his hand, on his palms, knuckles, etc. Some of the fingers are also twisted oddly like they're broken too.

His legs look like they fared better because there's nothing obviously broken or anything, although he's been lying out in the rain for who knows how long so his pants are probably kinda dirty.]

[After he's done sketching the hands, he's gonna feel around the legs to make sure nothing's broken before turning his attention back to the broken torso. He'll have to remove some clothes to check the body for any sign of external injury.]

[The legs seem fairly intact. Is Shin stripping Elliot's torso completely?]

[He's exposing the chest, but he has no reason to look at the bare arms.]

[Alright, fair enough. Either way, it'll be pretty obvious there's a large degree of reddish-purple discoloration all over Elliot's chest; there's no obvious open wounds, but considering his ribs are super broken, it probably speaks for itself.]

[There's the confirmation he was looking for! Going to do a sketch of the torso as well. Mikami's notebook is filling up with detailed art of horrible wounds. Beautiful.

Anything else that might catch his eye, or is this the extent of the damage?]

[The discoloration is pretty even, although it does have some more splotchy points where the colour is darker, but the more notable thing is that it definitely does go beyond his chest, probably down to at least his abdomen.]

[Does the discoloration go down to the pelvis, because Shin might have to take off this body's pants to see how far it goes.]

[It will, in fact, go down to the pelvis and god Shin are you just going to strip him in the middle of the square.]

[Look he's not taking off the kid's underwear! He just wants a better look at the damage.]

[Nothing for it then. When Shin takes off Elliot's pants, he'll see that there is notable pink-purple discoloration along the legs, mostly on the sides that were closest to the ground. I say that, but it's notable that the parts that actually were pressed against the ground are pale, but more or less that's the trend for both of his legs.]

[ Okay, you know, he's been standing back and monitoring this as a Supervising Physician, but honestly it's fucking ridiculous that they're all letting this guy do this.

So, when Shin moves aside to update his drawing again, Rideaux is just going to kind of shove his way past him to take his place. ]

All right, I think you've had enough fun here.

[ He shakes his head. Lord. Anyway.

1 - First off let me clarify because I am dumb and having trouble picturing this so I am clearly off to a great start -- is this purple discoloration more on the sides of his legs and it's clear in the middle/against the ground, so like blood WASN'T pooling at the bottom?

2 - Does all this discoloration appear to be bruising, or does it look like something different since we're specifically calling it discoloration? ]

[Wow Rideaux! Some people just wanna touch corpses okay!! Let them live their lives, be free, etc.

1. The blood has definitely pooled! It's just that there's blanching where his actual skin was pressed up against the ground because blood vessels compress, you know how it is.

2. How familiar are you with corpses and postmortem changes, Rideaux?]

2. A lot more than I am LMFAO... people die a lot on Spirius missions. And, uh. Around him. By coincidence, of course. ]

[Totes by coincidence, Rideaux is a pure and innocent soul who has done nothing wrong!!

In that case though, it should be obvious that the discoloration is primarily coming from livor mortis rather than any real bruising (although there's a little of that scattered around too). ...Basically what we mentioned above re: blood pooling, essentially.]

[ He is the finest and most upstanding citizen.

He will let this corpse have his pants back, then... but he's going to go back to the torso here to check that out for himself, and he will remove his sleeves to get a better look at his arms just in case there's anything going on there besides the dislocated elbows/wrists.

Also, do the broken ribs seem like they happened from a fall or is there any sign of any direct impact from something besides the ground? ]
