The clock strikes eight. The intermittent showers that dominated most of yesterday had, at some point during the night, escalated to a complete downpour that drenched the streets. Maybe that's why the morning might almost feel refreshing today—while it can't be said that the birds are chirping and the sun is shining brightly, the breeze is cool without being frigid while the sky is bright with the half moon.

Nevertheless. The deadline for Tuesday's motive was laid down as Friday, and amongst the pleasant earthy smell of the rain may be a tinge of something else.

Well now, how shall you spend this morning?

[ This is wonderful. He can live happily unaware of crime for another 20 minutes, unless someone bursts in screaming now.

After he has had a few bites, it's time to head to the candle shop to up his stock. He has to cross the main square to do so, of course. ]

[...Well about that uh. Depending on which direction Raven's coming from, she probably won't even make it that far without seeing something very interesting along the way. After all, it's pretty hard to miss all the stuff scattered about in front of the clock tower in the main square.

[Well, there is a little something that Dazai may see as he exits the Clergy Housing...]

[Well, alright then.

As you draw closer, it becomes readily apparent that something is very, very wrong with this picture. Knives and stationery lay scattered about, with wet sheets of paper plastered on the slick cobblestone like some poor imitation of paper maché. A couple of heavy books are also strewn around haphazardly, pages flapping lightly in the breeze. But that isn't what you should be looking at, not really. Because it's what's lying there at the center of it all that's the most important thing.

Sorry. Make that who's lying in the center.

Face down with their bangs obscuring a portion of their face, they lie still with one arm trapped beneath their chest and the other splayed out to the side limply. The combination of angle and the thickness of the jacket also makes it difficult to see anything about the rise and fall of a chest, but honestly--you don't really need it. Because even if the scent of blood and gore is obscured by the smell of rain, the unpleasant sight of fragmented bone and exposed grey matter would be enough to tip anyone off. Perhaps the only saving grace is that this scene looks mercifully absent of blood, so it's clear that ginger hair could belong to no one else.

[ raven pauses when she encounters the body. she doesn't freeze up -- no, she's seen corpses before, this is nothing new -- but rather... she closes her eyes and takes in a deep breath.

it's begun, hasn't it.

if elliot's eyes are open, by chance, raven will gently move to close them. really shouldn't be tampering with evidence of course, but it's the respect he deserves.

to anyone who may be outside or near the area, they'll hear raven call out: ]

Elliot's dead.

[ Mikami is here because he wanted more candles but... this isn't happening now. He'd already wondered what Raven was looking at, but with this call he's instantly moving over in quick steps. ]

Don't touch the body.

[ He places his own candle on the floor some respectable distance away and instantly takes out a notepad to draw a sketch of the body position.

He should probably be taking time to mourn or so, but he's not really in the mood to get sentimental. ]

[ Since he was heading out of the clergy housing, his gaze falls on the scene. He knows that red hair, and remembers just yesterday the boy was as lively as any other time he's encountered him. The woman's- Raven's voice confirms it. ]

Poor kid.

[ He also feels almost a little envious. ]

[Well, so much for getting up early. Shin immediately hurries to her as fast as he can.]

Where is h- [He spots the body.] Excuse me. [He makes a beeline to the body.]

[ Hm. In retrospect throwing a knife yesterday at someone who's dead today maybe doesn't look great. ]

[He looks over Mikami's shoulder.]

You know, I do happen to be good at anatomy sketches if you need something more detailed.

...but anyway, he’s already picking up the pace when he notices something’s off, and... welp. He doesn’t look perturbed, because he’s seen his fair share of gore (and, well, caused it), but even so, he lets out a defeated sigh as he takes the sight in.]

[ From the very top of the clocktower stands a very familiar familiar, a pop of yellow bright among the dreary scene. The clock rings once, twice, and then three times before the man there speaks: clear and loud enough to those in the town square. ]

Isn't it wonderful that one among you was punctual? Rejoice, for your loved ones are safe from harm at the cost of one life: Elliot Schafer is dead.

Of course, this is only the beginning but all things in order—you may investigate as you like until we summon you again in a few hours time. Or you may retire and go about your business, but surely you're fond of justice in some form or another?

[ Shin. His profile says he's an artist with an interest in taxidermy. That's... not exactly respectable, but presumably gives a good qualification for this matter specifically. After a moment of thought, Mikami nods.

His own image currently looks much like a rough placement stick figure and he flips the notepad to a new page to hand it to Shin. ]
