FINAL INVESTIGATION

Time continues to pass. And before long, it's the end of the week once again. Maybe it feels strange to call it that when there's such little sense of time besides the changing phases of the moon, and maybe the exact day doesn't even matter to you anymore. But regardless of the day, regardless of the month, regardless of the year, one thing is certain:

The time for preparations is over.

Because as the moon in the sky shines blood red, it becomes clear that all of the fog and the tremors were nothing but omens for what was to come.

And so, on Friday morning, Survivors will find themselves waking up to the sensation of energy practically buzzing through the air, prickling and tingling on skin like static electricity. Those who venture outside will also find that the fog that's creeped up in the recent days has been dispelled entirely, which includes the impassable kind that once hid a number of the buildings. Despite this, the tremors themselves do not lessen, and in fact, the earth itself seems to be vibrating with this energy as well.

The feeling will only get worse as the day progresses, and those who have been marked by the manifestations may feel more restless than normal.

The clock is ticking and there are some new areas to explore. No one's coming to save you, so there's nothing to do but to save yourselves, right?

But all right. If the boxes were heavy enough to warrant dragging and left marks, and then were presumably brought up the stairs, well...RIP to the Lady's back? That said, are there still any boxes in here, or were they all cleared out?]

[ All cleared out unfortunately, but hey now you know where her weak spot is. There's nothing else to see around, so it might be look cute time-- or he could venture upstairs. ]

[He imagines Iago and Mikami will yell at him if he leaves...but on the other hand, he really doesn't like being idle, and they're busy so maybe they won't notice if he fucks off for just a little while, and if he comes across something he can't handle he can always come back here and get them.

Also, he's never made a good decision in his life.

So! Upstairs. Sure. Why the fuck not. Assuming nothing has changed in the entrance hall, there were more stairs heading up, right? Let's check those out.]

[ This is a good choice, obviously. Heading up the stairs from the entrance hall leads Cumore to a really long corridor. There's a lot of closed (unlocked) doors in this hall but they're all pretty unexciting just like the unused rooms downstairs. At the end though, is one incredibly ornate door that just screams "look at me!", and one door from which rustling can be heard.

Hm. ]

[...oh, good, there's possibly something alive in here.

Let's...take one making weird noises first, just because that's where the first thought goes. Clear out the monsters and then figure out what to do with everything else. Sword still out, fully prepared to stab some shit if needed. Let's fucking go.]

[ Cumore opens the door and is met with the actual dragon of Krakow, which promptly incinerates him, rip.

Or so it went in an AU Antumbra. Opening the door sword at the ready it's.. well it's pretty dark in here but seeing as he's the one person who's not blinded by the lack of light, this actually wasn't the worst decision? It'll probably take a second for his echolocation to catch up to his instincts though, because even in the darkness he immediately sees dozens of eyes, or rather the tapetum lucidum shining off of them in various colors.

They all turn to look at him. And then, one meows. The shapes afforded to him by his echolocation are fuzzy, and feline. Congrats Cumore, you found a bedroom full of cats. ]

[ A mystery for the ages, or probably a day? The lightswitches don't work, but there is a lantern on the desk! Just care around the kitties, who are now doing their best to rub up against and greet the new visitor. ]

[He will try not to step on the cats, just because unlike most people, it is not the cats' fault if they're a little stupid. Their brains are the size of walnuts.

Okay. Assuming he does not fall and break his neck, let's get the lantern working and see what's in here, outside of "so many cats oh no."]

[ Clearly all this room has to offer is cats, who now with the light on come in various colors: tabbies, a siamese, a couple of black cats and a calico...you get the picture. They're all really well cared for and seem happy.

But to the rest of the room, it's a standard bedroom if not pretty spacious even if it doesn't feel that way with all the felines. Items of note are a wardrobe, mahogany desk, and a chest.

Ah, and there's god knows how many cat toys around the room, everything from wands with feathers, to balls with bells, and toy mice and fish. ]

[ And at this point the Cumore chase squad is entering, looking pretty stressed (or at least that's true for Mikami) and...]

They're cats, Teru Mikami. Doesn't your world have those...?

[He says, making his way over to the wardrobe first. Any obstructions to opening it? Because if not, he's opening it.]

[ None! The first thing Cumore will see is multiple copies of the outfit Rembrandt wears every day, all identical and all with that same horrible yellow accent. Standing up against the inside of the wardrobe to the back, is a very expensive looking violin. ]

[drydrown]

[...Rembrandt's room, then. With like three dozen roommates. Weird. Anyway, he's tempted to declare this violin is now officially free real estate because whenever he investigates anything apparently he's just going to steal people's shit, but it's probably bad to steal from people that are probably demons, so uh. Anything else of note in here?]

[ This has completely thrown off his groove to be honest. And the cats keep approaching and he's helplessly trying to evade and yeah, it's kind of ridiculous.

This is gonna be the rest of his investigation, hopefully it's at least funny to watch.]

I assume you finished whatever you were doing downstairs. I didn't want to just stand around doing nothing in particular.

[UGH THAT WAS A LOT OF STAIRS, but you know what, Cumore is in one piece and dealing with the cats, so he can yell at Cumore for being reckless later. For now... Let's see what's behind that ornate door! Assuming there aren't any traps, of course!!!]

[ No traps! It would really be a terrible idea to have traps in her bedroom of all places. Welcome to where the Lady sleeps, or at least where she used to sleep. This is clearly the master bedroom given the absolute gargantuan bed and plush decor.

With the lantern Iago is carrying he can see two areas of interest: the large desk sitting directly under the bay window, and a bookshelf stuffed to the gils. ]

[Ugh, of course the Lady's got a great bedroom... it almost makes him miss home.......

Anyway, let's start with the desk! Is there anything sitting out here?]

[ There is! It's...a device of some sort. Rather than trying to bumble my way through describing it, have a picture, though the device on her desk is smaller. There's also a slot on the bottom which looks like it could fit reams of paper. ]

[ah, of course, tech he doesn't recognize.

Well, this sure is weird. Does it look like this thing is on? How about that slot at the bottom, is there any paper in there now?]

[ Judging by a dim lightbulb, it appears to be on standby mode. There's no paper in there now, but there is a piece of paper directly to the side on the desk written in Polish which reads: ]

[Huh! Well, he's definitely taking this paper. But first!! Is it the Lady's handwriting and what color ink!!!

But while he's checking things out here, do we have any more paper around?]

[ There's a couple of blank pieces of paper on the desk! And it is the lady's handwriting, in black ink just like before. ]

Okay, well that's certainly interesting. So let's see... What happens if he writes linguistic test: common (in purple ink!!) and inserts it into the slot?? Common is probably what they call the language everyone speaks back in Nohr, take pity on me FE:F never explains anything!!!]
