FIFTH TRIAL
Trial V
From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.
Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.
The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:
"If you don't make this trial go like I want it, every single person in this room is getting vivisected!"
It has been a couple hours and she's still furious. It doesn't seem like her mood is going to improve anytime soon...if ever. Behind her, Rembrandt doesn't seem very impressed with her gratuitous threat. At least she probably won't get to make good on that threat, hm?
Let the trial for the death of Dist the Rose begin.
[OOC NOTE: From the halfway point of the trial and onwards, you'll have the option to ask the masterminds for the chance to get a hint! Be warned, though: the price will involve some body horror for your character. Keep that in mind when deciding to use this option!]

Ango... maybe we can change it. Ask her to take me instead.

[And then, he smiles.]
Thank you for these last few weeks. It was fun.

Can I really?
[ Can he really be the Dazai Ango keeps looking for? Can he really be the one that was in the photo with two strangers, looking like he actually found a way to the light? ]

He really wants to stop with just that hug though, because he feels like he has no right to say these words, but....well. If Odasaku could say them even after his death mission, then maybe he can too.]
We don't talk much, but I know the future-you. You protect the weak and save those who can't save themselves. You take pride in your job as a detective, and you've saved Yokohama more times than I can count.
You can become a good person, Dazai, even if it seems difficult. You just have to think "What would a good person do here?"
...you can use Odasaku as a reference point if need be. He's a pretty good person.

He does nod at that. Ango can't see his face, but he's almost desperate to latch on to this idea. Maybe... maybe if he tries to do good... then maybe he can find the real reason to live. Find worth in staying alive that was more than these warm flashes he gained from Ango, Odasaku, and Rean. ]
Odasaku is one of the good ones. He's one of the best ones.
[ Correcting himself there. He knows this. Odasaku saved orphans, didn't kill, and always did good, even within their organization. ]

[Dazai will be okay if he looks to Odasaku for guidance. Ango has to believe that.
He doesn't want to let go, because he knows this is the last time they'll ever hug and letting go means saying goodbye. But he can't do it forever, he knows that. So eventually he finally lets go and reaches into his coat to pull out a notebook.]
Here. Take care of this for me, alright?

Then there's a notebook. It takes him a moment, but he realizes what it is. He immediately opens it to flip through the last entry. He wants to see if Ango wrote his own name there with Dist's. ]
I will.

Thank you.
Don't drink too much, and make sure you eat actual food from time to time. And sleep too, don't forget about that. And...
[He'd go on forever if he could. There's so many little ways he looks out for Dazai, and all he can do is hope someone else picks them up for him.]
...be safe.
