Trial V

From what you can see, all the lights in the opera house are turned on. Only when you enter and see the open doors that lead into the main theater, you can see that room's lights are currently turned off. It's very dark in there.

Like before, Rembrandt escorts everybody to the stage. In the dark you still can see the many blue-eyed things you may be getting used to. They're still very scared of Rembrandt, staying as far away from the assistant as possible. The stage is illuminated by the spotlights, the only light in this theater.

The Lady and Rembrandt are at their balcony. She stands up, addressing the group:

"If you don't make this trial go like I want it, every single person in this room is getting vivisected!"

It has been a couple hours and she's still furious. It doesn't seem like her mood is going to improve anytime soon...if ever. Behind her, Rembrandt doesn't seem very impressed with her gratuitous threat. At least she probably won't get to make good on that threat, hm?

Let the trial for the death of Dist the Rose begin.

I'm fairly certain you and Shiro are the only two left alive and I doubt either of you would give me that information for free.

I also don't hear an argument.

I'm almost certain Shiro would, actually, if it were the "right" thing to do.

Excellent, then answer this for me: when Gravitas is used on a person to make them lighter, can they move faster?

I'm not sure, actually, for someone else; I've been hesitant to try it on anyone other than myself. I can tell you, though, that using it on yourself doesn't increase your speed.

I see. So Ango couldn't have used it on himself to get to the autoshop that quickly.

But we don't know how it works on someone else, correct? Will you test that out for us now? Ango tested it on Dazai before and confirmed it's safe, so I want to see if we can eliminate this possibility entirely.

It's safe as long as you don't do too much. Slight alterations only.

Agreed. And besides, if there are aftereffects from using it too much, we'd be able to see that on someone else, anyway--so we'd know if it had a hand in this.

What kind of aftereffects? Is it anything like the mark Aufero leaves behind?

I'd assume that if it's like the effects for inanimate objects, the person in question would have wrinkled skin, but... I'm not completely sure.

I had no effects when I used it on myself, anyway.

I'm not sure how to articulate it accurately, but dialing gravity back by about 5% is what let Dazai-kun jump as high as he did.

[At the moment? Nope, no side effects. And she will not move any faster, although she'll feel floatier; think of it kind of like how you'd look walking around on the Moon, although on a far smaller scale since Shiro didn't go overboard with it.]

I only feel lighter. This doesn't change my speed whatsoever.

It makes you super sore afterwards. I felt heavier for about half a day after he used it on me.

Since we haven't seen it used on anyone else, I would prefer to see an example rather than simply take your word for it.
