It's a quiet night as the silence remains unbroken. Without the toll of the clock tower, only a choice few will be able to discern the time as the hands on all four faces remain fixed at 9:27. And yet, even those without any means of checking the time will probably get the picture: it's been four consecutive weeks of death already, so what makes this one any different? So even though the lines between days may blur and tangle together, time still marches on and deadlines continue to draw closer.

The time is ████. Is there a reason to be out in the streets right now? Maybe.

[ That figures 'cause it was close to Dist but, look, you can almost never be too careful!! Except when you can. Anyway, he'll pick up the flashlight with his bandaged hand, touching it as little as possible.

Okay!! Uhh, is the flashlight broken anywhere? And if he tries to flick it on, will it come on? ]

[The flashlight looks intact and fine, which is corroborated by the fact that it turns on just fine when Erik flicks the switch because you can never stop lighting up people's lives. (Except when they're dead, probs.)]

[ How sweet!! Make way, Luminary, he's about to have a new #1! And thankfully it seems like nothing is abnormal with the flashlight. Unless it's powered by potatoes not batteries, and if it is Erik will never know anyway. He sets the flashlight to the side and makes his way over to the gun!

Okay, now he's gotta stop and think. He's pretty sure guns fire in a straight line so can he like... figure out the trajectory of the bullet based on where he is now? Or, like, line up where the shooter might've been standing based on what Dist's position was? ]

[How's he's doing this, first of all? Drawing a line from where the gun is on the ground to Dist's body or something else?]

[ Since it's hard to see, he's gonna use a lux dagger to try and like... "shoot" in that direction! It's a very scientific process. ]

[He can shoot, but...! There's nothing really that corresponds with where the dagger ends up. He just basically lights up the back wall and that's more or less it.]

[ At least it was a pretty show!! He'd try once more for safety but, ironically, he's also deciding to stop for safety. Maybe he'll try again later and use Dist's body as the origin point or something!

Anyway, since Dazai's handling the gun, he'll make another pass around the autoshop. Anything eyecatching on the walls? How about the doors or vents? ]

[Walls, you say? Well, there actually are a couple things to note. For one thing, there's small hole in the wall above the back workbench and behind Dist's body.

There's also another small hole in the doorframe at the entrance.]

[ Nah, those were always there. Time to move on—

Okay, no. Given Dist's body is nearby it does seem like this is related but, eh. Is there anything in the wall to dig out? And if there is, is there anything notable about what he pulls out? ]

[Digging into the hole behind Dist's body nets Erik a bloody bullet, which is kind of deformed because that's just what they do, pretty much.

Meanwhile, digging into the hole at the doorframe gets him... well, another bullet albeit less deformed and not bloody at all. Treasure?!]

[ He got two for the price of one, sweet! The blood is less sweet.

To be clear, which part of the doorframe was the bullet embedded in? ]

[The bullet was embedded on the side directly facing the inside of the autoshop, at around mid-door height.]

[ Not somebody shooting the lock then, got it!! Who would do that from the inside anyway?

Okay, since it's fairly safe to say Dist was at the workbench, can he tell at all what Dist might've been working on? There was some mention of a half-constructed something but, who knows, maybe Iago can find some closure if he knows what Dist died doing!! ]

[Zangetsu is here now, too, looking a mess with his bedhead and wrinkled clothes. But he needs to know something]

Oi, Erik. You seen a black plastic box around here?

[The mystery box is sitting innocuously on the workbench, a little off to the side of the half-constructed robot thing. There are also some notes there but generally all that shit looks safe and undamaged by whatever happened in here.]

I wonder how much he got to look at it before he....

[he shakes his head and growls] Dammit... Why couldn't it have been someone useless... [like Cumore]

[Oh well. Nothing that can be done now except try to salvage the work that was already done. What do Dist's notes say?]

[The notes are about the box, but needless to say, they have nothing to do with the case. Might be best to leave this one until after the trial.]
