It's a quiet night as the silence remains unbroken. Without the toll of the clock tower, only a choice few will be able to discern the time as the hands on all four faces remain fixed at 9:27. And yet, even those without any means of checking the time will probably get the picture: it's been four consecutive weeks of death already, so what makes this one any different? So even though the lines between days may blur and tangle together, time still marches on and deadlines continue to draw closer.

The time is ████. Is there a reason to be out in the streets right now? Maybe.

[ Okay, so we'll do a trade off then and let Rideaux take over the body checking out since Rideaux wants a shot.

He's going to sit up Dist first though, and lean him side ways into the work bench.

OKAY time to go check out that bullet casing. What size does it look like it's from? Is there any indication of the size to verify it on the bottom of the casing? Also was it location behind where the body originally was? ]

[It resembles a 9mm Parabellum round, although the rim of the casing only has 9mm inscribed on it. If we're looking at the scene from the entrance of the autoshop, Dist's body was in front of the workbench in the back with the casing being a little in front of and to the right of the body.]

[ Does it match the bullets that went to the gun the slime was having fun giving out?

Anything else he can see around the body or should he go check out that gun that Erik found now? ]

[Wow, the blobs are opposed to being called slimes and they will strike for their right to be called the appropriate name!!

But yeah, it definitely looks like the casing matches the cartridges found in the gacha guns. There's nothing else on the floor around the body that can really be seen, so Dazai can look at the gun if he wants.]

[ if they wanted rights they shouldn't slam into people like that. no to puff puff.

He's going to put his pocket knife where the gun is so Erik can like try to math lady his way into trajectory business.

Dazai is going to check if the safety is on. Then he's going to remove the magazine to check the bullets. How many bullets do we have in here? He will remove each of them and count. ]

[The safety will be off! As for the number of bullets, Dazai will find that there are 10 cartridges left in the gun.]

[ Is there still one inside of the barrel of the gun? Just going to open that up to see. ]

[There isn't one inside the barrel of the gun, no, but there would have been one round that was chambered and ready to fire. (Incidentally, there are still ten cartridges in total, I just misread your last tag.)]

[ Okay, so to be clear, two bullets are missing compared to the gun he himself got from the gacha including whatever is ready to pew pew in the chamber?

Also he's totally pocketing this gun btw to take with him to the trial as evidence \o/

Let's do the copper wire test. He's going to grab the copper wire from the work bench and then head over to stand where the bullet casing is. Unraveling the copper wire to make it long enough to reach. ]

Hey Erik, catch! Hold the wire up to where the bullet hole is.

[ The bloodied one. He's going to toss the spool over at Erik, while holding on to the wire ]

Got it! [ Dutifully holding it up once he realizes what's going on! ]

[ He's going the wire tight and then like hold like he would a gun. Keeping in mind that Dist is only half an inch taller...

can he tell about where the murderer was standing when they shot? ]

You know, it might not work well since anyone who is responsible is going to be taller than me.

[ But we'll just do the thing to do the thing to see if he even KNEW someone was there behind him ]

[If we're playing connect the dots with the bullet hole in the wall and Dist's body, then Dazai will find that the shooter was probably somewhere on the right side of the room (when looking in from the entrance). Is there anything specific he's trying to figure out about the trajectory?]

He's going to try to figure out about how much taller someone can be (guesstimate) if they were holding the gun with their arm out stretched versus if they were holding it with their arm at a 90 degree angle. JUST is it obvious the shooter may have been taller than Dazai ]

[I will say that the bullet in the wall behind Dist was more or less at his chest height and the shape of the hole itself was not particularly oblique. Beyond that, it's difficult to make estimations of height here, especially since the shooter's exact position is unclear.]

[ it being at chest height actually helps a lot.

time to go do the same thing with the other bullet hole in the door, but this time he's going to stand where the gun was found (where he left his pocket knife). ]

Erik, can you move to the other hold now?

[ Was the hole itself oblique or at an angle in any way btw? ]

[ Walking along with the copper wire (hopefully not hitting Rideaux with it, who has to deal with all of this going on over his head probs) until he's at the wall!

He does, like, try to look at the hole and tries to remember the angle of the bullet when he pulled it out?? And tries to see if the way the wire stretches is skewed in the same way but. It's dark, it's a wire, and that's unlikely to help in this scenario. ]

[ wire is copper and dazai did set up a bunch of candles during intermission so we should be good at seeing.

He just wants to see if it was done at an angle or straight across. does it look like someone fired the gun down on the ground versus standing up/if it's straight just like the other one. ]

[The shot is not oblique just like the other one, and it's around the middle of the doorframe!]

[ Okay... hey let's check under the work bench. Is there a second bullet casing there? over by his body? ]

[There isn't! There's nothing like that on the floor near the work bench or by the body.]

[ OKAY we are missing uno bullet casing.

time to check under the car junk stuff on either side of the body. Anything under here? o3o ]

[ Hmm... okay. WEIRD. Nothing on the other side of the work bench or on it? ]

[Nada on the work bench unless like... you count that half-finished robot thing chilling there? But no casing for sure.]
