It's a quiet night as the silence remains unbroken. Without the toll of the clock tower, only a choice few will be able to discern the time as the hands on all four faces remain fixed at 9:27. And yet, even those without any means of checking the time will probably get the picture: it's been four consecutive weeks of death already, so what makes this one any different? So even though the lines between days may blur and tangle together, time still marches on and deadlines continue to draw closer.

The time is ████. Is there a reason to be out in the streets right now? Maybe.

[ That sets in about three to four hours after death... is he still warm?

And okay he's just going to carefully roll him over to check him out. Sorry you don't look fabulous, Dist. ]

[Depends on what he's checking to determine temperature, but Dist is pretty much completely clothed (which includes his hands because gloves), so it might be hard to tell like this.

He's still in a puddle of blood so the back of his clothes will totally get ruined if he's just rolled over like that?? But anyways, his entire front is pretty much soaked through with blood as expected, although it doesn't take any effort to see that there's also a small hole on the front of his torso as well.]

[His neck is... well, it's not super cold but it's not that warm either. The neck itself doesn't exactly have the most mass, though.

There isn't a bullet on the ground, but there's a bullet casing a couple feet away from the body!]

[ Okay, so we'll do a trade off then and let Rideaux take over the body checking out since Rideaux wants a shot.

He's going to sit up Dist first though, and lean him side ways into the work bench.

OKAY time to go check out that bullet casing. What size does it look like it's from? Is there any indication of the size to verify it on the bottom of the casing? Also was it location behind where the body originally was? ]

[It resembles a 9mm Parabellum round, although the rim of the casing only has 9mm inscribed on it. If we're looking at the scene from the entrance of the autoshop, Dist's body was in front of the workbench in the back with the casing being a little in front of and to the right of the body.]

[ Does it match the bullets that went to the gun the slime was having fun giving out?

Anything else he can see around the body or should he go check out that gun that Erik found now? ]

[Wow, the blobs are opposed to being called slimes and they will strike for their right to be called the appropriate name!!

But yeah, it definitely looks like the casing matches the cartridges found in the gacha guns. There's nothing else on the floor around the body that can really be seen, so Dazai can look at the gun if he wants.]

He's going to put his pocket knife where the gun is so Erik can like try to math lady his way into trajectory business.

Dazai is going to check if the safety is on. Then he's going to remove the magazine to check the bullets. How many bullets do we have in here? He will remove each of them and count. ]

[The safety will be off! As for the number of bullets, Dazai will find that there are 10 cartridges left in the gun.]

[ Is there still one inside of the barrel of the gun? Just going to open that up to see. ]

[There isn't one inside the barrel of the gun, no, but there would have been one round that was chambered and ready to fire. (Incidentally, there are still ten cartridges in total, I just misread your last tag.)]

Also he's totally pocketing this gun btw to take with him to the trial as evidence \o/

Let's do the copper wire test. He's going to grab the copper wire from the work bench and then head over to stand where the bullet casing is. Unraveling the copper wire to make it long enough to reach. ]

Hey Erik, catch! Hold the wire up to where the bullet hole is.

[ Okay, taking over the body check, then. Let's just get this bloody shirt off, actually. What are we noting re: livor mortis?

Also, can he get a more accurate temperature if he feels his lower abdomen or something (he is not wearing gloves rn)................... like, if he has to get a meat thermometer from the opera house kitchen to get a more conclusive determination he can, but everyone would probably rather not go there. ]

[Livor mortis is not visible on his body, which Dist may be thankful for because it would totally ruin his beautiful complexion!!

It's... well, it's definitely warmer compared to taking a neck measurement at least? It's hard to get a definitive measurement because Rideaux isn't a human thermometer but it doesn't seem like he's been dead for longer than a couple of hours at maximum. ...If he really wants the actual temperature he's free to make an attempt with the thermometer but Dist probably would not appreciate that.]

So there's no discoloration (distcoloration) at all, and no visible blanching if he presses on the skin? The same is true on both the front and back? ]

[There's no discoloration, nope! He just looks pretty pale right about now, so there wouldn't be much visible blanching either. And yes, the same is true on front and back!]

[ Does he still have his glasses on? Are they broken or anything?

Assuming they're there, he'll slide them off so he can check his eyes. Any stiffness to the eyelids yet if he opens one? ]

[His glasses are still kind of on his face, but they're askew even if they aren't broken.

Checking the eyelids will net him no stiffness there!]

[ Hm. How's the temperature in here, anyway?

Also, how is his makeup aside from probably kind of covered in blood, definitely asking for science. ]

[It's not freezing or anything and the temperature outside is cool (around 40°F or 4°C), but considering the electricity is off, it's dark, the door has been left open for who knows how long and there's not much in the way of insulating surfaces in here... it's probably lower than standard room temperature.

Also he was pretty much faceplanted in a puddle of blood so......... it's probably hard to tell, to be honest. You can imagine it was probably ✨fabulous✨ though.]

Let's check his hands for anything strange -- under the gloves, just in case there's anything someone was trying to hide, and the gloves themselves for any notable stains or anything that could have come from anything other than Puddle Of Blood.

Assuming he's not going to find any signs of a struggle since so far it looks like Dist was just shot + he was kind of a wimp anyway, but, being thorough!! ]

[It is a mystery.

But anyways, the gloves themselves are as clean as they could be considering they were in blood, so needless to say there is nothing else that stands out on them! There is also nothing underneath the gloves either except for whatever blood seeped through and got on his palms and fingers, so you're good on that front too.

In general there are no other wounds or signs of struggle on his body though so good on being thorough!!]
