finer food, but no music

[Well that was...unpleasant, to say the least. Two more deaths, but this time there's the matter of whatever's happening to Seteth as well.

Ignis is trying not to think about it, which means he's thinking about it a lot, which means he spends a few moments pacing and trying to figure out what to do. He thinks back to the party - for as much as you could call it that - that Olivert hosted, and, well... He's not sure how much morale can be boosted, but it's worth a shot, isn't it?

The decorations of the opera house are much simpler this time around, but the food is noticeably better, between the actual operational kitchen and the fact Ignis is much more skilled than Olivert. The food is well made and it even looks delicious from where it's set up, and there's a sign outside the opera house that reads:]

A not as grand feast, for all of us to enjoy.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it might be better than staying alone.

Catered by Ignis Scientia.

[At least there are less rose petals this time.]

Oh, don't think that I've never been without conviction myself. It's just never been anything I've been willing to mutilate myself over - there's a line, with regards to most things, and I've never had my convictions put to the test in such a way with regards to the others.

Perhaps I'm a little envious, in ways.

Strong convictions aren't a particularly pleasant experience, but I find it necessary. If I shy down from them at signs of hardship, what were they ever worth in the first place?

[ Even Mikami has to admit that he has not been bestowed particularly much happiness in life thanks to this. More often than not, his ideals would leave him injured and humiliated.

And yet, though not pleasant, it's always been satisfying to know he's in the right. To know he's stronger than his foes because he's been fighting the good fight despite all the odds. ]
drydrown: the magna carta's a nice suggestion (HAUGHTY ♡ judging like john marshall)

The Commandant would love you.

[It actually doesn't sound like an insult, despite his general thoughts on the Commandant.]

You remind me a lot of Alexei, actually - that's probably why I like giving you a hard time. You put up more of a fight than he usually does with me, though.
